I used to dislike reading in coffee shops, but now I really enjoy it. Not sure why, it's not like the noise ever bothered me, I can easily tune that out. Why does coffee go so well with books? Well, I guess everything goes with coffee. (Do I talk too much about coffee?)
I also never read in the bath and now I stay until I almost dissolve!
Where do you like to read best apart from home? Any weird preferences? 🖤

  • Máte radi mytológiu? Ktorá je vaša najobľúbenejšia? 😊
〰️
Mytológiu milujem už odmalička, keď mi na dobrú noc mamina čítavala Staré grécke báje a povesti. Zbožňovala som príbehy o rôznych bohoch, príšerách a hrdinoch. Dodnes je grécka mytológia tá, o ktorej viem najviac. Avšak zaujimajú ma aj iné, napríklad ma veľmi baví severská. Ak patríte medzi fanúšikov mytológie, určite by ste si mali prečítať Kirké, ktorá veľmi zaujímavo rozpráva príbeh o bájnek gréckej čarodejnici. 😊
.
🇬🇧
.
Do you like mythology? Which one is your favorite? 😊
〰️
I've loved mythology since I was a small child, when my mom used to read me bed time stories about greek mythology. I adored all stories about gods, creatures and heroes. Greek mythology is still the one I know most about, but I love others too. For example norse mythology is very interesting. If you love mythology, you should definitely read Circe, story about greek witch. 😊

"Our point of view, as an imaginary camera, picks up and lingers over things like this in the room. We are invisible, anonymous intruders. We look. We listen. We note odors. But we are not physically present in the place, and we leave behind no traces. We follow the same rules, so to speak, as orthodox time travelers. We observe but we do not intervene." I loved the salty girl who doesn't care to talk to people, forgets their names and is so different from her sister. She might be my favourite Murakami character ever. I am a licuid dreamer which is why this story appeales to me so much. His descriptions of and musings about sleep, dreams, reality and conciousness give the story a deep layer and makes you come up with your own thoughts and theories. It has so much of Murakamis magic in it and it's so well paced. He makes places feel special, just by giving words to the feelings we all know: at night alone and anonymous in a diner, waiting for the last train of the night in the trainstation and how that station changes between that last train and the first train in the early morning.
I'll keep my thoughts about the story to myself, because you should experience it for yourself. It's a really short book and it captures the vibe of Murakami so well, highly underrated in my opiniom and I recommend it for people who want to try him out 🖤
PS: you should really really read this after midnight

Let me just say that the second I read what Middlegame is about I knew it would be a favourite. I just didn't know how horrifyingly in love I would fall with every single aspect of it, the characters, the lyrical and sinister language, the ideas and the execution. I love that she didn't make alchemy a flashy magic trick, which it isn't, as someone who has read up on it a lot, I think she used it so well in a modern setting. Being a twin myself I want to say she did the relationship between Roger and Dodger beautifully. I mean this book tore my heart to bloody pieces and I loved it. Eventhough Dodger is the math girl I relate to her on so many levels it's not even funny anymore, from her not great coping mechanisms to simple facts like 'her love for stale coffee bordered on the surreal'.
Reed is the antagonist and everything he does is morally wrong and evil and I love him. The way he exudes this engery of power, he doesn't scream, doesn't use unnecessary violence, he is just intimidating because of what he is, and I absolutely loved that. We don't see much of him but I still feel like I know his personality well, which is a sign of great writing in my opinion.
The way McGuire made us understand things that can not be understood was brilliant. The way she showed how it's possible to read numbers, to see time, to use math to accomplish anything seems so easy the way she describes it. Spoilers later, but when she added another thing to the story, I was shocked, not social media 'shook', I mean my stomach literally dropped and I didn't know what to think.
So yeah, read Middlegame, the magic is in all the details I could never talk about. I hope it brings as much joy to you as it did to me. 🖤
Thanks so much again to @tordotcompub

Ja was denn??!! 🤔
Was bedeutet Loslassen für dich?

  • This one is going to make you dust off your boots and find yourself a cowboy or pack your shit and move to find one!
Stolen glances lit with lust and a deeper connection are only the start of Garret and Mary Beth.
Enjoy this HOT read 🖤🔥 Big Sky @daniwyattauthor

When my feet hit the dirt at the Big Sky Dude Ranch, I have a pretty good idea what to expect. What happens next nearly shook me out of my brand-new cowboy boots. See, I’m here to write a travel article, but in one instant my interest in saddles, horses, and the Montana sky evaporate. All I see are blue eyes, chiseled cheekbones, and a black cowboy hat.

What I find out, is the quiet cowboy who owns this land is the measure of alpha. Quiet. Controlled. He’s older but has a body carved from fresh air and decades of hard work.

I do what I can to maintain my professionalism. After all, for two days he’s barely looked my way. And yet, he’s ruined every pair of panties I brought.
One slip and everything changes. Garrett West shows me what’s underneath that calm cowboy exterior. And, let me tell you, it’s big.

Except, we are from different worlds. Different decades. And some differences may be impossible to overcome.

  • Many of you have already read this much hyped debut thriller by Alex Michaelides, so bare with me while I chat a bit about my thoughts.

I am always a little leery when it comes to reading books that are getting all the hype right away. This is why I’m just now starting to read Daisy Jones & The Six (did you all just gasp). I know I can be a disappointment at times.

Part of it is I don’t want to be sucked into how everyone else is feeling about the book and lets face it I don’t want to be disappointed and then shamed by the book community when I actually say that it didn’t live up to the hype. Well today is the day I face this fear and let you know that this book didn’t live up to all the hype.
I wasn’t bored by any means, but I wasn’t blow away either. There were a few characters I really wanted to get to know more. I wanted to really get lost in their minds because I found them fascinating. I just felt the development was lacking something.
Don’t get me wrong I totally see why people rated this so high. It’s different, twisty, dark, and plays with your mind. Maybe I’m becoming a thriller snob cause for me it was just OK.

No matter what my thoughts are I think if you’re into thrillers you should add this one to your summer TBR stack.
My rating 3 ½ - 4 ⭐️ #myloveforbooksisreal #books #booknerd #bookstagram #igers #thesilentpatient #alexmichaelides #celadonbooks #thriller #hypedbooks #bookread #readwithme

  • ‘The last part of the journey was the most tedious. They felt they were close but they weren’t, not yet. They crossed the border, crossed a line of hills, crossed another ….. There was something military about it’
•
What are you #CurrentlyReading?
•
I’m currently reading #NowWeShallBeEntirelyFree by Andrew Miller. I don’t usually pick up historical novels which are set in anything other than ancient or Shakespearean so I’m really excited to be giving this a go. So far I’m really enjoying the writing, Miller has a gorgeous writing style! I’m also very intrigued by the characters. I’ll be sure to tell you all what I think when I finish.

  • Happy Monday everyone! I had the best time in Asheville this past weekend celebrating my husband’s birthday a little late. I promised my husband we wouldn’t do anything book related since it was his weekend, but we did stop at one of my favorite non-book stops there, @sierranevada. If we lived closer, I’d definitely be in one of these hammocks every weekend with a book 📖 Thanks to the drive out there and back I got a ton of reading in and am about halfway through Beartown - boy, I can tell this one is going to rip my heart out. Tell me something good that happened for you this weekend 👇🏼

  • REVIEW: 5 ⭐️ You’ll either feel a relatable anxious connection to these perfectly flawed characters or you won’t and you’ll launch the book across the room and curse them in irritation.⭐️ I loved Normal People in a miserable way, Marianne and Connell’s vulnerabilities and angst made me hold them tight and love them more. ⭐️Rooney addresses the nuances of class, depths of mental health, familial complexities, and domestic abuse. ⭐️The characters are magnetically drawn to each other, they connect but fail to communicate, so theirs is a dysfunctional relationship. This can frustrate a reader but also elevates your level of concern and empathy. I’ve still got them on my mind! ⭐️This is a difficult one to universally recommend but I do hope you’ll take a chance on Normal People and make your own conclusions. If you’ve read it I’m very interested in your thoughts! Eager to get the chance to discuss it with a book group in June. Thank you to the tagged publisher for my free copy! 🥳 #normalpeople #sallyrooney #irelandcalling #relationshipissues #contemporaryfiction #readwithme #bookbarct #bookgroup #coffeeandbooks #whatimreading #bookrecs @hogarthbooks @penguinrandomhouse

  • — As a tarot reader, sometimes you do a reading and it stays with you. —

That happened for me this weekend. —

I am sharing the message as a mindset reminder as we start the week. —

As the picture shows, my client pulled all of the fives of the Minor Arcana for his reading. —

In tarot, the fives are all challenging in their own way and tend to represent change, struggle and striving for balance. —

The energy of the five can really turn things on their head and is not always welcome. —

This opened a powerful discussion about the ways we (the collective we) are constantly seeking perfect balance. —
And, that finding perfect balance can be both elusive and unobtainable. —

So, what did we end up with? —

Accept the imperfection. —

Let it roll. —

Know that you are perfectly imperfect. 💜 —

Do you have place where you can just switch off and chill?

We’ve bought a new house and I can’t wait to move once the work has been done... I look forward to doing up the garden now that both kids are big enough 🙌
It will be plenty of sunny moments like this for us all 🥰

➖ After I Do is refreshingly real while still satisfying my need for a lighter read! Taylor Jenkins Reid feels like the breath of fresh air I needed to get out of my reading rut! I find myself excited to get even a few minutes to read. In the car, in waiting rooms, while I'm standing at the stove stirring dinner, I'm looking forward to every page! .
➖ When Lauren and Ryan’s marriage reaches the breaking point, they come up with an unconventional plan. They decide to take a year off in the hopes of finding a way to fall in love again. One year apart, and only one rule: they cannot contact each other. Aside from that, anything goes. Lauren embarks on a journey of self-discovery, quickly finding that her friends and family have their own ideas about the meaning of marriage. These influences, as well as her own healing process and the challenges of living apart from Ryan, begin to change Lauren’s ideas about monogamy and marriage. She starts to question: When you can have romance without loyalty and commitment without marriage, when love and lust are no longer tied together, what do you value? What are you willing to fight for?

  • Máte radi mytológiu? Ktorá je vaša najobľúbenejšia? 😊
〰️
Mytológiu milujem už odmalička, keď mi na dobrú noc mamina čítavala Staré grécke báje a povesti. Zbožňovala som príbehy o rôznych bohoch, príšerách a hrdinoch. Dodnes je grécka mytológia tá, o ktorej viem najviac. Avšak zaujimajú ma aj iné, napríklad ma veľmi baví severská. Ak patríte medzi fanúšikov mytológie, určite by ste si mali prečítať Kirké, ktorá veľmi zaujímavo rozpráva príbeh o bájnek gréckej čarodejnici. 😊
