  • I remember watching Pretty Woman as a fourteen year old and hearing Julia Roberts’ character state that her legs were 44 inches from hip to toe. The beauty algorithm in my brain was running. Her legs were long (44 inches from hip to toe) and ipso facto she was gorgeous. I was crushed when I measured my leg length at home and came up short. It would be hard for me to be beautiful. Sure, these were the thoughts of a fourteen year old but, in mainstream and social media, we are ALL constantly reminded what can acceptably be called beautiful: someone who has a symmetrical face with clear skin, a narrow nose, the right eyebrows, pouty lips...the body has its own set of preferred qualities and dimensions. The problem is the beauty standard in our culture is anything but standard! It’s arbitrary and yet unforgiving. Reaching for an ideal that is so damn exclusive just is not one of my values anymore. I have redefined beauty for myself and it stretches far beyond the physical. #eatingdisorderrecovery #edrecovery #allbodiesaregoodbodies #haes #selfacceptance #selfcare #selfcompassion #antidiet #bodypositivemovement #redefinebeauty

  • It's okay to be different not to look like anyone else. Let each other know that you are beautiful. Have a voice. Keep pushing forward. Believe in yourself. Beauty is feeling comfortable in your own skin. Love who you are, flawless or not. With make up on and make up off, beauty looks like how you feel.
Beauty is, be the real you!

It’s YOU and YOUR HAPPINESS.
Isn’t it real time to redefine beauty together?

  • When our cultural ideals for female bodies look like teenage bodies, and those ideals remain etched in our brains throughout our lives even as our bodies grow and shrink and age, we are destined for disappointment. So how do we develop or maintain a positive body image? We expect and embrace *change* in our appearance, ability, and experience. We respect body diversity for others and for ourselves as our bodies evolve throughout our own lives.
✖️All bodies change.✖️Understanding and accepting this fact of life will save us so much heartache. More likely than not, the changes our bodies undergo through puberty, childbearing, aging, caretaking, working, and experiencing the ups and downs of life will push us further away from the body ideals in media and in our minds. If we place too much value on our appearance and achieving or maintaining an ideal, whether relating to our health or our looks, we are set up for failure. But change and growing and shrinking and weakening and strengthening are NOT failures -- they are the very nature of being human.
➕Expect change. Don't tie yourself to one physical state or experience. Value your body as instrument, not an ornament. You'll be OK.

  • No shame in my game.

Am I perfect? Nope.
Can I do all the reps they can do? Nope.
Do I have to pause and jump back in? Yep.
Do I modify? Oh Yeah.

There is no shame here, I modify, I pause, I drop weight. Sometimes I can push up on my toes, sometimes it’s on my knees. But I don’t quit. I don’t give up.

The thing is I am not lesser because I don’t have the same abilities as the trainer or the people behind her. My body walked through a completely different life than theirs.

Your value isn’t measured by being able to keep up with them, or lifting heavier than them. That’s just a mental game. STOP PLAYING.

Push past yourself, is becoming a better YOU. There is only one. 🤓

No shame in my workout game. I’ll be over here pushing and modifying. Let me know if you want to jump on the train. 💪🏻

  • If you watched my live today, THANK YOU! I put together the winter bundle and was blown away by how amazing it is. They chose some of the greatest colors! So I’ve decided I’m going to do a live every day this week so you can see the gorgeousness that IS the winter bundle. I’ll be putting more details in my story at some point today. In these pictures I’m wearing cherry lip conditioner and saffron on my lips, ever red and ballerina on my cheeks, Ivy League, bird, and glamazing on my eyes, henna contour, and angel illuminator. ALL are included in the winter bundle. 🤗 Such gorgeous colors I can’t even handle it.

  • How do you define beauty? 💗
Is it acts of kindness, sincerity, pureness, gratefulness, joyfulness...wouldn't it be amazing if we allowed these traits to shine through and redefined beauty?

  • ITS TIME TO BREAK UP WITH SHAME. ⠀
⠀
A growing number of researchers and practitioners are examining shame and its role in a wide range of mental and public health issues including ⠀
self- esteem/concept issues⠀
depression⠀
addiction⠀
eating disorders⠀
bullying⠀
suicide⠀
⠀
The evidence clearly points to shame’s importance, and researchers now describe shame as “the master emotion of everyday life”. ⠀
⠀
So how do we break up with shame? ⠀
⠀
We start by talking about it. “The less we talk about shame, the more power it has over our lives,” Dr. Brown explains in her book Daring Greatly. “If we cultivate enough awareness about shame to name it and speak to it, we’ve basically cut it off at the knees.” ⠀
⠀
If this is something you struggle with, there are some great resources out there, professionals who can help you work though your shame and overcome it, and hopefully someone you trust that you can open up to about your feelings. I definitely recommending checking out works my Dr Brene Brown, who is an expert in shame research. ⠀
⠀
Wishing you a shame free day babes. If you need a little inspo check out Sarah over at @thebirdspapaya. This absolute babe challenges shame on the daily 💪🏻

  • Today I knocked over a glass with my butt 🍑 😂 .

How ? Well, I was dancing and my booty bump went a little too hard to the left and bam 💥 glass goes flying against the wall. .

I laughed because my butt is big enough to knock things over ! Maybe I should wear a caution sign ⚠️ .

I’ve gained weight. Maybe it’s noticeable , maybe it’s not. But I feel it. .

In my movement. .

In my protruding belly. .

In my thighs when my shorts feel tight. .

I feel it, and I’m okay 👌 .

There’s a little more of me to love 💕 .

I am enjoying all that life has to offer , all the delicious foods, all the fun activities and all with amazing people. .

I never thought I’d be happy if I wasn’t at my goal weight. I thought, only then, will I be able to enjoy food, eat dessert , and have fun with friends. .

But life is here, right now, waiting for you to grab it by its tail and say, I am going to have my cake and eat it too 🍰 .

Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, and I sure don’t want to reach the gates of Heaven and think my last day was spent counting calories And beating myself up because I’ve gained weight. .

I will have hoped my last day was filled with laughter love and some serious booty bumpin 🍑 🍑 😂 .

So here’s how to handle your weight gain: focus on squeezing as much joy and love out of the present moment as possible .
