38 days until graduation, 49 days until trip abroad with the boy + 75 days until i start my big girl job!!!🙈🍎👩🏼🔬 i am VERY excited for what is to come but man, these last four years have given me so much joy!💚 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✘ one of my major highlights was this mission trip to san pedro la laguna, guatemala last may! every time i reflect back on this trip i can’t help but smile (& maybe shed a tear). it sure was memorable💛
✘ during our 8 day visit to the village, we became red cross certified (in guatemala), provided and ran 5 clinical days for local patients to receive free dental care (some travelled more than 2 hours) working with guatemalan dentists, and taught community leaders a shortened version of the red cross training that we had learned earlier in the week. we also were able to hike indian’s nose mountain (at 4:30am but so worth it) + observe the mayan culture—its beauty and its people🌺
✘ wished those 8 days could have been 8 more as only so many locals could be helped during our mission, but think that gives me a good reason to go back...and i will be back!! ☻
there’s somethin’ about volunteering your time that makes you feel good😊 it brings a smile to your face and puts a smile on those you are impacting. through philanthropy events, this mission trip, literacy tutoring + now cuddling nicu babies, i have seen the impact of giving back, not only in these small settings but also in improving my awareness & mental health🧠 it definitely has enhanced my undergrad experience and i’m very grateful for all that i have learned & all that i have yet to learn🌟
what is your fav way to volunteer your time? ↓
I used to love celebrating my birthday with you. I know you hated it, as you once told me. You didn't want to take away my spotlight. But I didn't care, I never wanted the spotlight. I would rather share it with you. I realize now that I have spent more birthdays without you then I did with you.
I know someday, when the time is right, we will celebrate together again. Until then Happy Birthday! I'll have some cake for you. I miss you always. ❤
The Thirteenth Station of the Cross: Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross
As Jesus' body is removed from the cross, it remains forever stained with the saving blood of Christ. As the rings of a tree tell the story of the tree's life, the wood of the cross tells the story of the Passion. The blood, sweat, and tears remain behind as the body is taken away. In the way that Christ absorbs the sin of the world, the cross absorbs the pain and suffering of our Lord. We are reminded that those tears were cried for us. The wood of the cross bears the story of a "God who so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). #stationsofthecross#lent#catholic#prayer#reflection#Franciscan#careforcreation
Heading to Jerusalem
With his disciples, Jesus
knows what’s coming.
He knows it’s his last Passover supper.
He knows of the betrayal.
He knows of the suffering.
He knows of his upcoming death.
Yet, he takes no detours.
He has no change of heart.
He doesn’t back out,
Faithful to the call on his life by the Father just for You and for me.
Eyes on the cross just for You.
Resolve in His heart just for You.
Death that would lead to life for You.
“When Jesus had finished this talk with his disciples, he told them, “As you know, the Passover celebration begins in two days, and I[a] shall be betrayed and crucified.” At that very moment the chief priests and other Jewish officials were meeting at the residence of Caiaphas the high priest, to discuss ways of capturing Jesus quietly and killing him. “But not during the Passover celebration,” they agreed, “for there would be a riot.” Jesus now proceeded to Bethany, to the home of Simon the leper. While he was eating, a woman came in with a bottle of very expensive perfume and poured it over his head.
The disciples were indignant. “What a waste of good money,” they said. “Why, she could have sold it for a fortune and given it to the poor.” Jesus knew what they were thinking and said, “Why are you criticizing her? For she has done a good thing to me. You will always have the poor among you, but you won’t always have me. She has poured this perfume on me to prepare my body for burial. And she will always be remembered for this deed. The story of what she has done will be told throughout the whole world, wherever the Good News is preached” (Matthew 26).

Last hour at work before the super duper holiday long weekend. I’m giddy and antsy, which has me standing and ready to begin to rest😉💛. I’ve envisioned a restorative cleanse of sorts for this upcoming weekend, which will include a nutrition refresher, hot yoga classes, my first outdoor ride, and quality uninterrupted time for writing. I have some important visiting over the 4 days too, but mostly, it will be time to trim mindset excess, including any stress or anxiousness about workouts leading into May’s Fargo Marathon. Wishing everyone a genuinely joyful and peaceful long weekend🌿.
Human beings find themselves, in quite the predicament. We have the mental capacity, to ponder the infinite, seemingly capable of anything, yet we’re housed in this hard-pumping breath-gasping decaying bodies. Simultaneously Gods, and worms. Human beings exist at the interplay between the finite and the Inifinite. The explicit awareness that you’re a breathing piece of defecating meat, destined to die. Ultimately no more significant than a Lizard or a potato. It’s not especially uplifting.
We are the only being in the animal kingdom that can contemplate its own death. So it’s not just that we’re running away from Immediate predators but that even if everything’s awesome, we lose sleep over the fact that one day we will die. One day the sun will eclipse and burn the earth, one day it’s all gonna end. But the existential bummer is that we are uniquely aware; The first and most Impactful solution to the death problem was the virtual reality known as religion. It absolves us of our fear because guess what? You will live forever in the Kingdom of God and walk the gardens of Eden all you want!
The second solution to the problem of death is Romantic love; The deification of the other. To live forever in a lover’s eye. To make a lasting Impact. The third solution and perhaps the most creative one: The creative solution to the problem of death; What can we build? What can we do? What can we create together to overcome, to transcend, to redefine our boundaries? To be remembered forever and hence to live forever? To expend the perimeters of the possible? To make the Impossible possible, to overcome our limits to put things together in a certain way, in which things become transcended.
That my friends shall be Art, art in all its shapes, all its forms.
