I receive a lot of questions about how to make van life and long-term travel financially sustainable. Whether you're living on the road or just want more flexibility in your current work schedule (which is what drove me to start my own business back in 2014), working remotely is on the rise.
No matter what your education, background, or skill set is, there is likely some type of remote work that’s suitable for you. Nearly any skill, with the right combination of learning, experience, and determination can become a doorway into working remotely. To help you figure out where to start and what your options might be, we put together a list of 20 solid remote work opportunities you can do from anywhere.

In a few days I’ll be back in Spain! 💃🏻💃🏻🇪🇸 I may not be sporting a summery olivey tan this time (I’ve never been so pale in my life ATM thanks to these Parisian winter days), and I’ll still be working everyday (albeit on some very cool projects), but I’m definitely excited to be back to a warmer climate, and practice my español (starting with this: ¡una sangria por favor! 🍷)🎈🎈🎈

BALI 💫 My Happy Place. .
We’ve traded in a Canadian winter and moved to Bali for a few months to soak in a work/live lifestyle full of sunshine, yoga, surf and endless co-working cafes!
In between meetings: this is the uncut, selfie stick, b-roll I grab when you know you need content, being your real self...
And let’s face it: dealing with your hot spot, a deadline, and knowing you’ve got a call in 7 minutes... and need more coffee.
It’s finding a gorgeous spot outside though to be present.
I could honestly have gone back home and put on sweats or a swim suit... but ducking in here with eyeball blind was the thing to do.
Do you change up your work space?
Our preference as humans is to be in nature. We simply thrive in it. Study after study shows that not only does being outside in nature improve our mental and physical well-being, it improves memory and focus, reduces mental fatigue, and increases creativity.
As human beings, we thrive in changing scenery — which is hard to come by in a monotonous desk-job setting. Studies show that trees, natural light, and outdoor air can positively impact our well-being.
So... might I suggest get out of your office?
Sit on your patio and do whatcha gotta do?
Go to a coffee shop, cafe, museum, botanical garden, outdoor spot with space heaters...
Where is your favorite remote spot to work?
Tag me in stories and I will repost you?
Drop your spot below (use a tag if it’s a local biz and give them some press 🙌🏻)

Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.
Or in my case grapes.ok, well, wine. I tasted as much wine as I could 😂😍

❝ Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do ❞ -Steve Jobs-
Time ⏰ and energy 💥 are limited resources for each of us, and how we choose to spend those precious resources, matter a lot.
Having a To-do list 📝 and following it, keeps us away from Procrastinating and not sticking to our plan to achieve our goals. 🎯
But just as important could be having a Not-to do list, because if we are conscious of what we have to avoid ⚠️ we can focus our energy 💥 on those things we need to do, to make ourselves more productive, more successful and why not... more Happy😁
My Not To Do list:
❇️ Overthink everything
❇️ Try to do everything on my own or at once
❇️ Start the day without a plan
❇️ Put important tasks for later
❇️ Try to please everybody.
What would you add if it was your Not To Do List?
So.. we have been total ghosts on the gram lately, because for the last three months we’ve been wracking our brains and pondering new ideas for staying afloat financially from afar.. aka how to make more money online so we can keep working from warm places. We have failed disastrously at several ventures, but indeed I think we are onto something now... a little thing called rental arbitrage.. sounds sketchy I hear you say.. but no, believe or not, you can rent apartments from landlords and sublet them short-term and it’s all completely legal! We have addendums to leases and landlord consent.. even the mayor’s on board ..for now anyway.. it’s all looking sound and scalable, or at least it was before the corona virus came along. we shall see .. if it all goes well we will be sharing some not so secret secrets so stay tuned.. #workingremotely#remotework#workwhereever#digitalnomad#airbnb#airbnbhosts#floridakeys#rentalarbitrage#travelgram#trip#livetoexplore#digitaldiva

Remote Well EP 11 with Meaghan Williams is up on the blog!
Meaghan is the Remote Work & Inclusion Program Manager at @hubspot ranked #1 best place to work in 2020 by Glassdoor and is quickly scaling their remote workforce.
In this episode, you’ll learn: 👉The creative ways that HubSpot combats the trap of “transactional” communication among remote teams
👉The office upgrades HubSpot has made to better connect co-located and remote team members
👉What Hubspot is doing to squash the “Social Media Effect” of Remote Work
When you leave something unnamed, it lingers in a nonverbal state and can seem nebulous and insurmountable. If you put a label on it, at least you know what you're facing.
When it comes to emotions, yours and others, naming them out loud can tamp down intense emotions even as you strategize how to handle them.
I use this emotion wheel to better understand my colleagues, friends, and family. When I'm writing fiction, I use it to understand my characters' motivations. What's your strategy? (This image could have copyright and I make no claims of ownership. Find your copy here: https://lnkd.in/eHXJ7kk)
I get it. Mel Bee is an unusual name for a virtual marketing company.
So if you’ve wondered why I chose it...drumroll please... 🥁 I am going to tell you!
It’s not juicy or clever, but it’s meaningful to me.
At my essence, I’m a teacher.
I come alive when I get to teach others what I’m passionate about.
I learn best when I am learning to teach.
And my heart excitedly longs for when my daughter is old enough for formal learning.
Another detail you should know about me, is that (up until having my daughter) I’ve always been connected in some way with special needs children. First in my home, then volunteering, and eventually teaching.
When my children are gone and my first desire is not to be home with them, I expect that is the direction I will head once more.
So when I became “Bee” to children who couldn’t pronounce or remember “ Mrs. Boltjes”, it just fit. “Mel” comes from my first name (obvi 😂) and tbh, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to saying “Mel Bee” together and think of the spice girls a time or two 🤷🏼♀️. Long story short, my business name is a little nod to the essence of myself.
I want to know, how did you come up with your business name? #businessnames#entrepreneur#remotework

By day, it's a workspace flooded with daylight, a deck for your morning coffee, and a great space to stay quiet and focused on your trip to L.A.
By night, it's a cozy lounge, complete with Apple TV and soft lighting... not to mention the fire pit outside. Did somebody say s'mores? 🍫

Friday yey!!!
Today marks 2 YEARS being a Rep for @zyiaactive! 😳🥰
When @zyiagal first reached out to me on Insta - my first reaction was “SPAM!” - and not the yummy kind in a can. Don’t you dare knock it till ya try it. 😋
Then I actually looked in to it. Umm - you can get PAID to wear cute activewear and this brand is all about empowering women?? 🤷🏻♀️👏🏼 It’s exactly what I’ve been lookin for...
I still regret not jumping in with two feet and putting everything in to it. So much opportunity! 🤩 But I also know everything happens for a reason and I’m so grateful where I’m at.
I have had a chance to not only hang out with @zyiagal multiple times but the CEO of @zyiaactive herself - @erinbradley26 and her cute mama @zyia_diane! 🙌🏼
This is not a “job” to me but a FAMILY. I love helping people find clothes they feel comfortable and CONFIDENT in. I love connecting with people I NEVER would have met.
I am truly grateful @zyiagal took a chance randomly messaging me.
Looking forward to the future and where this takes all of us! 🥰
This is my THIRD time starting my online writing biz.
Two and a half years ago, I built my website, landed a few online gigs, and moved to Spain.
Then I got offered a job at @expanishbarcelona and took it. No regrets. 🤗
I left one year later to start freelance writing again and got offered another full-time writing job (funnily enough, I thought it was a meeting about a freelance gig...NOPE). Again, no regrats.😅
I left AGAIN to give my business another go because my ❤ won't stop until I fulfill this career.
(Well, I am fulfilling it... let's just hope no one offers me a job! 🤞🤣)
If you don't like cubicles, office chairs, and time stamps....
And prefer choice, flexibility, and control, now's the time. .
Because the future is #freelance .
So don't give up!
You know what they say, 3rd time's a charm or whatever 🍀

Hi! Nice to meet you!
I’m Kanicia and I'm a boutique photo editor but when I was a kid, I wanted to be an archaeologist when I grew up.
What did 10-year-old-you want to be?
Wanna have some fun... We’re looking for a crazy talented creative to come along side us in ALL things graphic design, project management and operations assistance for ALL things architecture, interiors, landscape, pools and so much more sometimes.
We need only an incredibly fast, surprisingly experienced, stupidly common sense smart and down to earth individual to consider this. We don’t want to waste your time nor ours! We’re not asking for a lot right (insert sarcasm here), but we are easy, laid back, hard workin coffee shop hopping creatives that have uncomplicated our approach so we can have fun being creative in serving others well. This is not an employment offer, but can be remote and or local to Austin, Texas or preferably Pagosa Springs, Colorado if available.
We are design guides and client reps who mainly focus on private remote second home projects with story so we can build engaging teams of architects and consultants wherever the projects take us. We have some of the best clients in the world with some incredibly fun projects. With only a few at a time, each one is unique... some complex in unimaginable ways and others so simple it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve seen. 4 out of 8 projects right now are return clients and the other 4 are direct referrals from the previous clients... so fun and a little pressure which is inspiring.
DM us or email the contact above. Check out our connect page and FAQ on the website, follow our other endeavors and think strongly on this opportunity. It’s a lot of fun, sometimes full time, some times part time, and you’ll never know what’s next.
Thanks for following us!!!

My favorite local spot has much more than just beer - if searching for a mobile office for the day, try @rr_brewingco ! They have local coffee, snacks, tea, strong wifi, and friendly people. When the day ends (or gets tough), the beer is all excellent. Bring your furry friend to help!

. 👤 The Gatekeeper - “Look, I don’t have time for that now, just read my email."

What's your favorite thing about remote work?
I'm not surprised by this stat. If you ask me, I think remote work is the new normal.
Thanks to the internet and new tech, it's easier than ever to work from anywhere. And that's a win-win for everyone!
Working remotely doesn't just allow employees to make lifestyle decisions based on their actual life, but it also allows employers to recruit the best talent.
