I spent the day with my family celebrating our Swedish heritage at the Scandinavian festival in Estes Park. It is midsummer! Of course. we drove into the park to enjoy Colorado’s beauty after the festival.

A rather chatty group of elk. This morning at Rocky Mountain National Park.
My Mema was the first person to take me out of Texas. She was the one who showed me real wilderness for the first time. The reason I’m so passionate about hiking and wilderness backpacking is because of her. #rmnp#coloradorockies#mountains#family#grandmother
Another visit to #rmnp before heading to Denver. #wncw going places.

Happy Testimonial Tuesday! Here at Colorado Pain Care we love hearing feedback from our patients. Check out what Gary N. has to say about his experience at CPC. Write us a review, and you could be featured next!
Yeah. Overall, I’d say the odds were fairly good 🤓

Repost: Estes Epic! Registration opens for this awesome, local, and non-profit event today (6/25) @ 6pm. Which are you going for?Mountain bike, run, or both? This event has been improving a lot over its first few years and can only have 75 athletes in each event. So, if interested, sign up quickly! Donations for entry go toward supporting @estesmtb. I can't wait to be out there to race or volunteer.

GEAR REVIEW...I used the Gregory Zulu 30 on my Canyonlands 14 mile Chesler Park Loop/Druid Arch hike last Friday and my Rocky Mountain NP 8.5 mile Mills Lake/The Loch hike in the snow on Sunday. This is a great pack for your mid to full day hikes. Absolutely love how Gregory designed the Zulu 30. I tend to love packs with a ventilated suspension system to keep moisture off my back. The Zulu 30’s FreeFloat Dynamic Suspension does this perfectly and allows the pack to flex with your body. .
The Gregory Zulu line has larger packs and I love that the hip belt is designed for a bigger pack. This allows the Zulu 30 to ride on you waist without any pressure on the shoulders. Often daypacks have smaller hip belts but they are not designed to carry the weight, but the Zulu 30 the belt takes the weight off the shoulders. The two pockets on the hip belt are huge allowing you to store plenty of snacks or a large phone at your finger tips. The main compartment is laid out well so you can put a lot of gear in the Zulu 30. It has two smaller compartments to put important items in and the inside upper pocket has a clip for your keys (a must in bags). Two other features I love are the sunglass storage on the shoulder strap and the quick clip to keep your water bladder upright in the pack. One more great bonus is it comes with a rain cover! At 30 liters, the Zulu 30 has plenty if room for extra clothes, lots of food, and whatever you need for a long day in backcountry.
If you are looking for a full day daypack, absolutely check out the Gregory Zulu 30. I loved using it last weekend and look forward to more adventures with it.
This shot was Rocky Mountain NP on Sunday (in the snow in late June, you have to love Colorado).

If you're planning to visit somewhere that has wildlife and you want to take nice pictures of them, please consider bringing a camera that is capable of taking the type of photos you want from a safe viewing distance. Camera phones can take great pictures, but I can only guess their optical limitations are what I was seeing drive people to get uncomfortably close to this guy.
It was so frustrating to watch this man harass this poor moose. I think he was trying to get the moose to eat from his hand or something, because at one point he threw leaves at it 😡 The park is not a petting zoo 😡

Do you have a favorite rock? I love to sit on this one in the canyon by the rivers edge. I guess it’s not a rock, it’s a Boulder!
