Our legendary guitar solo of the day is the solo performed in "LAYLA" by the legendary guitarist Mr. ERIC CLAPTON. "Layla" is a song written by Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon, originally released by their blues rock band Derek and the Dominos, as the thirteenth track from their album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs (November 1970). Its famously contrasting movements were composed separately by Clapton and Gordon. Clapton poured all of himself into the intense, majestic “Layla,” which he named after the classical Persian love poem, “The Story of Layla and the Majnun.” by the 12th-century Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi, a copy of which Ian Dallas had given to Clapton. The book moved Clapton profoundly, because it was the tale of a young man who fell hopelessly in love with a beautiful, unavailable woman and went crazy because he could not marry her. The song was further inspired by Clapton's then unrequited love for Pattie Boyd, the wife of his friend and fellow musician George Harrison of The Beatles. The acoustic version won the 1993 Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. The original song began as a ballad, but quickly became a rocker, with Duane Allman reportedly coming up with the opening riff which would alter the tune. Eric Clapton rearranged this song completely new. But if you know the original, you’ll see that it’s less different than it sounds like. The keys are the same D minor and C# minor, which is just a semitone below. The song’s opening chords are straight forward and easy to follow. Dm-Bb-C-Dm are straight out of the F major scale. When the singing begins, the music takes a turn by changing keys. You move a half-step down from Dm to C #m , which is relative to E. #ericclapton#layla#duaneallman#jimgordon#guitars#greatmusician#derekandthedominos#georgeharrison#guitarist#guitarsdaily#guitarporn#guitargod#guitarspotter#guitarsolo#rocklegend#rockgod#rockguitarist#bluesrock#bluesguitarist#bluesman#blueslegend#bluesguitar#creamband#fenderstratocaster#fenderguitars#greatguitarist#electricguitar#guitarsofinstagram#guitarlegend

Our legendary guitar solo of the day is the solo performed in "TRILOGY SUITE OP: 5" by the legendary guitarist Mr. YNGWIE MALMSTEEN. "Trilogy Suite Op : 5" is an instrumental song by Yngwie Malmsteen and appears on the album Trilogy. Trilogy is the third studio album by the virtuoso guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, released on 4 November 1986 through Polydor Records. In the liner notes, Malmsteen dedicates the album to the memory of the late Swedish prime minister Olof Palme, who was assassinated on 28 February 1986. Malmsteen's "Trilogy Suite Op : 5" guitar work was praised as jaw-droppingly fast and technically demanding.“Trilogy Suite Op:5”, the closing instrumental, Malmsteen’s signature creation, one that would make every metalhead around the universe instantly recognize him. Back in the 80’s it could be heard from every radio station, manic shredding and piercing drilling leads assembled together to produce one of the ten best instrumentals in the annals of metal, a magnificent closure to the man’s magnum opus. His speed and dexterity on the electric and the accoustic as both played on this song are excellent. The greatest opus of this album is clearly the "Trilogy Suite Op : 5", which consists of 3 amazing sections. The first is kicked off with a crazy set of cadenza lines, that leads into a barrage of high speed lead riffs matched by some equally high speed bass (also performed by Yngwie) and drum work, and Jens mimicing the riffs on his synth. The slower section has some more acoustic work, functioning as a tocatta that introduces us to the 3rd and final section, which has an atmospheric quality that gives the feeling of flying through the air. 🎸❤ #yngwiemalmsteen#alcatrazz#steelers#neoclassicalmetal#instrumentalrock#heavymetal#hardrock#metalguitarist#metalgods#metalguitar#metallegend#metalhero#fenderguitars#guitarist#guitarsofinstagram#fenderstratocaster#guitarshred#guitarshredding#guitars#guitarsdaily#guitarporn#guitargod#guitarspotter#greatmusician#guitarhero#greatguitarist#greatmusic#stratocaster#rockguitarist#rocklegends

On a day like this our legendary guitarist was born. Happy birthday Mr. RICK DERRINGER (born Ricky Dean Zehringer; August 5, 1947) is an extremely gifted multitalented American guitarist, vocalist, Grammy Award-winning producer, entertainer, and all around great musician. He came to prominence in the 1960s as a member of THE McCOYS, when he was brought in to record lead vocals for the number one hit single with "Hang on Sloopy". He then turned to blues rock, scoring a 1974 hit with "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo". He has worked extensively with brothers Edgar and Johnny Winter, and with the group Steely Dan. He spent most of the late '70s and 1980s, however, as a producer, working with artists as diverse as Bette Midler, Kiss, Meat Loaf, Cyndi Lauper, Barbra Streisand, and Weird Al Yankovic, producing Yankovic's Grammy Award-winning songs "Eat It" and "Fat" and with the World Wrestling Federation, penning entrance songs for Hulk Hogan and Demolition. Derringer is known for his hard-rocking live shows, which don't necessarily translate well to recordings, or lend themselves to much originality. In 1973, Derringer released his first solo album "All-American Boy". Derringer opened for Led Zeppelin in Oakland, California on their last American tour in 1977. And our legendary guitar solo is the solo performed in "ROCK AND ROLL, HOOCHIE KOO" by the legend himself. It was written by Rick Derringer. It was first recorded in 1970 by Johnny Winter And, Johnny Winter's band from 1970–71, of which Derringer was a member. His "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo" is featured in the 1993 film Dazed and Confused. He influenced by Chuck Berry, James Burton, Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Wes Montgomery and Merle Travis. 🎂🎸 #rickderringer#themccoys#edgarwinter#guitarist#johnnywinter#steelydan#hardrock#toddrundgren#ringostarr#guitars#weirdalyankovic#gibsonguitars#rockstar#greatguitarist#greatmusician#lespaulcustom#greatsong#guitarspotter#guitarsdaily#guitarporn#guitargod#rocklegend#rockguitarist#rockgod#rockguitar#gibsonsofinstagram#guitarriff#electricguitar#guitarlegend#guitarstyle

Our legendary song of the day is "SMOKE ON THE WATER" performed by the legendary band DEEP PURPLE. "Smoke on the Water" is a song by the English rock band Deep Purple. It was first released on their 1972 album Machine Head. "Smoke on the Water" is known for and recognizable by its central theme, developed by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. It is a four-note blues scale melody in G minor, harmonised in parallel fourths. The riff, played on a Fender Stratocaster electric guitar by Blackmore, is later joined by hi-hat and distorted organ, then the rest of the drums, then electric bass parts before the start of Ian Gillan's vocal. Jon Lord doubles the guitar part on a Hammond C3 organ played through a distorted Marshall amp, creating a tone very similar to that of the guitar. Blackmore usually plays the main riff using a finger pluck or occasionally a plectrum upstroke (to accentuate the tonic). There are two solos in the song; the first was performed on guitar by Ritchie Blackmore, and the second was performed on an organ by Jon Lord until the song fades out.The lyrics tell a true story: on 4 December 1971, Purple were in Montreux, Switzerland, to record an album using a mobile recording studio (rented from the Rolling Stones and known as the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio—referred to as the "Rolling truck Stones thing" and "a mobile" in the lyrics) at the entertainment complex that was part of the Montreux Casino (referred to as "the gambling house" in the song lyric). On the eve of the recording session, a Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention concert was held in the casino's theatre. Today is the Birthday of seven Grammy Awards winner from nineteen nominations Mr. JOHN MAYER, born 16 October 1977 is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer. A talented guitarist with a plaintive vocal style, Mayer updated the confessional singer/songwriter style for the new millennium. John Mayer steadily widened his approach over the subsequent years, encompassing everything from blues-rock to adult contemporary in the process. Arriving during the tail-end of teen pop's heyday, he crafted pop music for a more discerning audience, spiking his songcraft with jazz chords and literate turns of phrase. He partnered with legends of several genres, making guest appearances on albums by Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, and B.B. King, while touring alongside jazz icon Herbie Hancock. Mayer also retained enough pop/rock foundation to continue his reign of the charts, making him one of the decade's most popular songwriters. He attended Berklee College of music in Boston. He formed with Clay Cook LO-FI Masters band. In 2003 he won the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for the single "your body is wonderland". After developing an interest in the Grateful Dead and connecting with Bob Weir, Mayer formed Dead & Company with three former Grateful Dead musicians. He influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, Buddy Guy and many more. He was named one of the "New Guitar Gods" and nicknamed him "Slowhand Jr". In this video clip John is performing his "GRAVITY" amazing song. It was written by John Mayer and was released as the third single from Continuum in 2007. Our legendary guitar solo of the day is the solo performed in "TENDER SURRENDER" by the legendary guitarist Mr. STEVE VAI.
"Tender Surrender" one of Vai's most popular songs, is a seventh track from Vai's 1995 Alien Love Secrets album. This is of his that blends subtle tones and controlled nuance in a similar style to Wes Montgomery a guitarist known for his octave approach to melody writing. The guitar plays a very sweet, touching part throughout the whole song. It's got a very basic guitar part, with a simple enough song-long-solo, but Vai uses the tempo in his favor, slowing down just as the song is about to flow to the next part. Steve Vai’s iconic guitar tone has been an inspiration for guitarists around the world for a few decades now. Steve Vai’s guitar rig is just as complicated as his guitar playing. His constantly evolving rig is quite complicated. It’s impossible to nail exactly what makes that Vai tone based on his live rig. He told the story behind this guitar-based instrumental: "I was sitting and recording something in the middle of one of my records - I always keep some sort of a documenting device around. I felt this urge to just play and to get out of the way, and I hit the first chord and I sang the melody, and just fished for it. Once it's there, it's almost like low-hanging fruit. So then I had this cassette with me singing just the first verse melody and the chord changes, and I knew that it had some energy to it. There was a presence to it. So I just put it on the shelf, and it was yelling at me for about ten years. Finally when I listened back to it, I said, 'I know there's a beautiful song in there,' so I completed it, and then when it was done, I listened to it, and it told me its name". 🤘🎸 #stevevai#tendersurrender#guitarist#greatmusician#greatguitarist#guitars#guitarsdaily#guitarporn#guitargods#guitarspotter#guitarshred#greatmusic#ibanezguitars#ibanezjem#joesatriani#yngwiemalmsteen#paulgilbert#rockgod#g3#instrumentalrock#progressivemetal#progressiverock#frankzappa#geartalk#heavymetal#leadguitarist#rocklegend#rockguitarist#metalguitarist#metalgods

I remember when this epic album was released and me and a group of high school friends went to Stockholm to see the whole thing live. When they had played the first song Pat said something like ”We use to say that this song is from our latest album, but this song was actually the entire album”. Yeah, that’s right, the whole album consists of one 68 minute long song, divided into four individual tracks and they opened the show by playing the whole thing in full! Amazing experience!
Good times! 😎🎶
