  • Photo from the 1st day in Bansko - as soon as I got out of the chairlift, looked down the slope without seeing an end to it and realized where I was, I took this photo, since I instantly knew I was not going to get back there. Not that day, nor ever again.
Many, many hours later, after the chairlift got stopped due to the low temperatures, therefore taking my only chance to get back down without skiing, after my glasses froze up, blurring my sight up to the point where I could barely see where I was going to, I somehow got to the middle of the route and stopped for a well-deserved pizza. There’s really nothing pizza 🍕 can’t fix. Pizza and a boyfriend. He was the one to be patient enough with my tantrums, my speed anxiety and my general fear of heights.
What did I realize that day? I need my BF to be the one carrying my ski equipment for a minute, give me a pep talk when in need, make me realize I can do it too and to be the one who knows what I want to eat before I know it. LOL.
Thanks for that day and for the shot! 📸 .

  • “You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a lift pass.” That’s what a quoted image says on Pinterest. Well, I say it depends who’s using the pass. Here comes my story. ⠀⠀
I went skiing in Romania last week and went to the very top of the ski trail. It was a fail.
One might say people learn from their mistakes. Especially when they did the mistake only one week before. I’m one of those who make a mistake several times, just to make sure the result is the same. It always is. Always. ⠀⠀
This time I am in Bansko - so I did the same mistake of going to the very top, the difference being that the top here is at approximately 2600 m altitude. So I even find it appropriate to call it a “high” mistake, lol. I made it to the bottom of it in 3 hours, including tantrum, mulled wine and lunch breaks. ⠀⠀
I decided 1600 is not only doable, but pleasant and fun. So I should know better tomorrow. Can please someone remind me not to be an overachiever?
Stay tuned for fails, falls, but also some of the really good times. ⠀⠀ #RomanianSoloTraveler #shetravels #femaletravel #girlswithgypsysouls #skiing #ski #fashion #bansko #travelgirldiary #travelwriter #travellife #traveldiary #travelbug #visualwanderlust #welivetoexplore #ipreview

  • Happiness doesn’t simply come your way. You attract it, you make it happen. It’s in your laughter, in the love that you carry, in the relationships and people you care for, in the values you believe in.
It was two years ago, but I remember the moment captured in the photograph like it was yesterday.
My heart was filled with happiness and contempt. I was following my rigorous visiting schedule around NYC and was kindly asking strangers to take photos of me in certain spots I found more interesting. I remember asking a couple to take this one. I turned around for the shot. And while I was turned, I cracked a joke, telling them that was the moment to run off with my phone if they wanted to; that’s what I deserve for trying to be artistic, lol. They took a couple of shots while laughing hysterically. And they fired back humorously saying, “Ok, girl, we promise to send this photo to you via email as soon as we lose you.” That’s how a moment turned into a conversation. We then hit a barand exchanged traveling stories. Then we went on with our own itinerary.
That was a moment of happiness, a good memory, a story to tell today. .

  • “Live.Love.London.”, they say.
⠀⠀
I visited the city 3 times so far, at different ages and during different seasons. I was 14 years old when I visited it for the first time. I was immature and did not necessarily appreciate what my eyes were admiring. But what my immature and non-travel-educated mind stored as memories are sunny days (I got lucky and had a full sunny week to spend there), people’s laughter, the British accent I was anything but used to, the architecture. Tall trees, London Eye, London fashion. This Image always put a smile on my face and made me return.
⠀⠀
Ten years later, I returned with the desire to fill that story in with information, culture and history. What I wanted and what I got are two very different things. It was raining and cold. Something got stolen from me without even noticing and when I asked for directions (my battery had died), I received a very disgusted and almost whispered, out of laziness, answer. What happened to London in the last decade? Or was I simply unlucky to only bump into rude ppl? What do y’all think? .

  • Early Happy Halloween! I did say this was going to be a Holiday I’d be trying to bring back with me. Let’s hope people won’t get too worried about my sanity once they see me walking around like this, since they’re not all familiar yet with the concept lol 🎃 👻 🤖

  • Matchy matchy with the 🏟 stadium. 💖💙💚 What’s most impressive about Barcelona? Hard to say - Gaudi ‘s architectural projects, the cleanliness, the Mediterranean influences in their cuisine, the crazy amount of tourists, the metro efficiency? I don’t even know where to start and what’s more interesting to share with you, my friends.
l am today sharing the only event left in my camera roll - the soccer match between Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven.
First things first - we weren’t actually planning on attending any actual sport events during our trip, however when I started booking tickets for all our upcoming stops (because I would be too stressed out if I weren’t planning it all in detail and ahead of time), I noticed we couldn’t visit the famous stadium at the time I had an opening in our schedule because of a game. I read more about it, and saw the Title “ Champions League “. Even I got excited, without being a football fan, and even if knowing like around one or two players only (yes, Pique is amongst them), I went ahead and booked front row tickets to what I was sure it will prove itself to be a one of a kind type of experience.
I live for experiences - if you’ve followed my trips, you might have noticed I always link each trip to one memorable experience. This was it for this trip.
Maybe because it was the first football game I ever attended or maybe it was the huge stadium, or the supporters or the game itself ... I don’t know. What I do know is that I got chills when they sang short supporting lines. It’s true I couldn’t understand it all but the passion in their voices reminds one that FC Barcelona is not just a team, but it’s also history! FCB since 1988!!! No wonder older people were cheering away, FCB is already a family tradition, their parents had been supporters before they were and they passed the passion on to their children and grandchildren.
Not bad for a first football game to watch in real life.
Did you watch the game? Who’s your favorite FCB player? .

  • On our first day in Barcelona, we started walking down Passeig de Gracia and were so fascinated by the architecture, the neighborhood diversity and city vibes that even though we were tired and wanted an afternoon nap, we kept on going “2 more blocks” until we got to the beach and ended up walking for over 20km.
If you are a book lover, then you must have some idea about La Barceloneta from Don Quixote. Otherwise, I’ll tell you more about it.
Locals head to this neighborhood to surf and sunbathe on Sant Sebastià Beach, and to dine out at seafood restaurants and tapas bars. Posh yachts fill glitzy marinas, and you get to enjoy the Mediterranean Sea on a long and palm-lined promenade.
The beach is wide, the sand is inviting and the sea was almost still and only had waves enough to reflect the sun in a beautiful mirroring effect. Once gotten there, we wanted no turning back. No music to distract us from nature’s peaceful sound, no loud laughters to disturb the passing tourists - just some white noise of the sea and subtle chatter. Lovely! .

  • We got lucky and stayed right on Paseo de Gracia (aka the most expensive street in BCN). Centrally located, one of their major avenues, where fashion meets luxury, where tourists outnumber locals and where some of the city's most celebrated pieces of architecture wait to be admired by thousands of people every day. (Such as Casa Milla -pictured, casa Batllo (Gaudi) or casa Lleo Morera (Domenech i Montaner)). As soon as we left the luggage at the hotel, we went for a stroll down Passeig de Gracia. This avenue was how the city got introduced to us. Way to go, BCN. It felt like walking down the streets of Disneyland with modernist architecture, background street music and the sun shining through the trees’ leaves.

  • I will start with apologizing for having spammed you all with the abundance of insta stories from our Barcelona trip - I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was a 3 day long trip and we made the most out of it. I will share everything with you in the next few days.
This photo was taken on our 3rd day in the city, at Arc de Triomf. Magical place! A concert was being prepared at the time we got there, so there were many tourists around, soap bubbles were floating in the air, the palm trees were standing still, and locals were resting on the grass. We had lunch at a place nearby and had a very pleasant walk in this fairytale-like corner. The day unfortunately ended with an unpleasant event I will be sharing later so stay tuned.
Can you guess what could have happened?

Can you guess what could have happened?

  • At 512 meters, Tibidabo mountain has views over the city and surrounding coastline. At its top, there are the Sagrat Cor church and Tibidabo Amusement Park.
If you are a thrill seeker, I must warn you the rides won’t feed your adrenaline hunger, they are more focused on providing better views of the city and are fairly relaxing and child friendly. However, I do recommend including it to your itinerary for the church, beautiful views and very nice walk in the colorful alleys of the park.
While all Barcelona’s public transportation systems are very fast and efficient, the way to get there was in my viewpoint slightly trickier. As former Bucharest resident, waiting for trains, having to change multiple lines and having a quite intricate way to get to my destination was no new business so we did just fine.
The main idea is that there is a bus going from Plaza Catalunya directly to Tibidabo (Tibibus - €3 each way), however some locals say it only works on weekends in extra season, some locals say it would eventually arrive but with no excuses or explanations of its delay. I had no intention on waiting without the certainty I would get to my destination on time, so I chose an alternative option, as follows: 1. Take S1 train from Plaza Catalunya for 5 stations (which arrived quickly and moved fast), then 2. took Barcelona’s first Funicular up the hill and then 3. waited for bus 111 until its last stop. Considering that the bus is taken mostly by tourists, do not expect people respecting the order everyone arrived there in so do go all “hunger games” on it, otherwise you will be waiting for a 2nd one, like we did. LOL

  • I will start with apologizing for having spammed you all with the abundance of insta stories from our Barcelona trip - I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was a 3 day long trip and we made the most out of it. I will share everything with you in the next few days.
This photo was taken on our 3rd day in the city, at Arc de Triomphe.
