  • A lot of people think I have "always been a runner" ✋🏼 Absolutely NOT. I was never involved in any sport growing up. I thought running was something only certain people were "capable" of. In my mind, it was physically impossible to run 🏃‍♀️ I wrote myself off as "not capable" for too long.
👉🏼At 18 years old I was Overweight (175 lbs), high blood pressure (140/90), unable to complete basic fitness assessments. I seemed so far away from being in good health. How could I possibly change my lifestyle?
👉🏼 The secret? : commitment. Being consistent day after day. Month after month. Year after year. Hard work ALWAYS beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
👉🏼 goals are NEVER hit over night. They take years and years of dedication to achieve. Once to reach your goals, it only gets harder! You must constantly fight for your health. Even the healthiest people you know make a conscious decision every day to re-commit to their goals! RENT IS DO EVERY DAY!

  • Could not be more excited that those 8 miles are over. Sometimes you wanna quit the run before you start. Next week, im cutting back my long run by a few and will start building up again from there. The legs are tired!!

I am really excited to do this race again next year despite my sore feelings right away post race.  Try not to ever let a race performance bruise you.  Take the time you need to recover/be sad/ sort out your thoughts.  But, come back stronger than ever to fight for your goals.  It sucks when things don’t play out like you want but it sucks even more when you let that one time ruin the rest of your goals!  Running is a lifelong sport with lots of ups and downs.  Run for those up days and take the down days with a grain of salt!

You have probably have seen it in the produce section. It looks kind of like a cross between a turnip and an onion. Jicama is a root vegetable that is native to Central and South America. They are grown mostly in warm climates as they require between 6-9 months of frost free growth time. .

Health benefits of Jicama .

✔very low-calorie root vegetables; with only 35 calories per 100 g. However, its high-quality phyto-nutrition profile comprises of dietary fiber, and antioxidants, in addition to small proportions of minerals, and vitamins. .

  • Negative splitting is a great race strategy….for some! It has never been my forte in racing short distances which is weird because I can almost always negative split my training runs. Well, today I thought I would try negative splitting my 2 mile race. That was a dumb time to try it out! The first mile went as planned, around 8:40. I felt like I could have sped up by about 30 seconds but I held back. So, for the second lap I couldn’t get the speed up and paid for it; 2nd mile was 9:26 or so and i missed my foal by over 1 minute. ✔So, I will be sticking to the race strategy that works for me for short races; sprinting like hell the first mile of a 2 mile race then just taking what comes the 2nd lap. May not work for some but based on past race performances at this very course with that strategy; I have done much much better!

Needless-to-say, todays race did not go as planned for me. I have been following a great training plan from my girl, Lindsey @ontherunfit and my race fell apart despite being fully prepared. Races will not always go as planned. I swear it is like 5% of the time everything falls into place like you imagined. Don’t ever let that stop you, though. You can be upset and have a pity party and get to almost tears like I did (or full tears), but never let a bad race stop you from the love of the run!!

Sin lugar a dudas un #maraton va más allá de correr 42.195 km, ya que en el recorrido de este experimentas todo tipo de sentimientos que vienen desde felicidad hasta tristeza y también enojo, por eso dicen que es como la vida resumida en unas horas, tienes altibajos exorbitantes, en esta ocasión la preparación ha sido mayor, enfocado sobre todo en disfrutarlo ya que tengo una revancha personal puesto que el año pasado sufrí bastante y llegue a pensar que no lo acabaría, el o una maratón es celosa/o y te juega malas bromas pero a su vez cuando cruzas esa meta y te das cuenta de lo que eres capaz, ese sentimiento de satisfacción y felicidad combinado con lágrimas es inolvidable sin importar si es la primera vez que lo logras o la numero cien, es por ello que disfrutemos esta fiesta llamada maratón!!!
Y sumamente agradecido por mi estupenda playera!!! Diseño by @indio_pachanguero

  • I am not good at relaxing! Anyone else??

I swore that I was just going to relax today so I started the day with walking Axel. Then laid down for a bit. Then started feeling antsy so I did the dishes and some laundry. Still felt wound up….so I went to gym and climbed 105 floors on the stair master, did a little lifting, and row intervals. Then went to a few stores. Cleaned the entire basement when I got home and did some more laundry. Now I am trying to hit that relax button again. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

  • It was raining, HARD. So hard,  traffic was stalled because no one could see 5 feet in front of them. By the time I made it back to Rosemount, i was just ready to go home. Instead, I went that extra mile down the road and took my run to the treadmill....1st run on that dreadful thing since like December. I went that extra mile to prove i dont give in to excuses. Treadmills are there when we can't run outside; there was no reason i couldn't suck it up today. 💙Going the extra mile can mean many things. Today, it meant stomping down my excuses.  Did you go the extra mile today? .

  • Forty-two, If you understand me. Ah a maratona, a rainha das provas de atletismo! Desde 2016 participei de seis delas, sendo que a mais difícil foi a do Rio em 2017, quando a abandonei no quilômetro 21. Difícil e dolorida pois fiquei dias e dias me martirizando por não tê-la concluído. Estava bem fisicamente mas a cabeça estava um lixo. E sem cabeça não se completa uma maratona. Assim, das seis em que participei, cruzei a linha de chegada em cinco delas. Em ordem decrescente, Rio 2019, Rio 2018, Floripa 2017, Foz do Iguaçu 2016 e Rio 2016. Deixo aqui o meu agradecimento a todos que sempre me incentivaram a seguir em frente em busca dos meus objetivos e o meu abraço a todos meus muitos amigos maratonistas, no nosso dia. Una medalla que me hace creer que, eso que un día se veía imposible, hoy no se ve tan loco. Una medalla que me hace creer que puedo lograrlo y que me hace soñar en grande, que hace que mi corazón se aferre nuevamente a una nueva meta, a un nuevo sueño.
.
Que duro fuiste, 30k. Me hiciste creer en la primer vuelta que era pan comido mantener ese ritmo. Y ya entrados en la segunda vuelta, cuando toco apretar el ritmo, me demostraste que una mente fuerte es clave para este tipo de pruebas.
.
Con el bailecito de ayer se armó la segunda distancia de este ciclo. Hoy comienza la tercera semana de entrenamiento, me quedan diez semanitas para seguir afinando detalles antes del gran domingo.
