Such an honour to be on the same pages as the incredible @tinaemelie and Jasmin Paris. We run the same races though I’m not a champion like them.
But we shouldn’t need to be champions to follow our dreams outside being a mother. Every mother has the right to chase them - from those trying to win to those trying just to run down the road again. It’s important that we tell more and more stories - and share how we all “do it” so that more women can follow in our footsteps. If that takes me talking about #pelvicfloor issues then so be it! @sundaytimes@theststyle@fleurbritten

Marathon training has been unusually brutal the last two weeks. I think I’ve hit the point of overtraining since I so brilliantly decided to train for two marathons in a row. At the time, training felt SO GOOD and I wanted to run all the miles. Now I’m just tired.
As I struggled through my 20 mile run this morning, I reminded myself what I’m training for. To run 26.2 miles in beautiful places like THIS. I choose these gorgeous destinations so that I’m in awe the entire way. The scenic views get me through the pain and personally, I think the best way to see a place is to run it.
My last marathon was here in Banff back in June. In a few weeks I’ll be running in the beautiful Cascade Mountains about 45 mins east of Seattle. I sure know how to pick ‘em.
I’m trying not to forget the hundreds of amazing miles that preceded the last two weeks. For months I felt like I was running on clouds. Every step felt light and seamless. But slumps happen. This is normal. Overtraining is also a thing. If you had a tough run today, remember that it only makes the good ones that much better. Also, rest is your friend and it’s often more beneficial than the prescribed run. Exhibit A. 🙋🏼♀️ And now, I taper. 😴
Boa noite, galera!

Just keep grinding✨ You’re going to be thankful months from now for the work you put in today. Sometimes it’s hard to keep your eye on the prize. That’s why I normally like to race frequently, so that my goals are never too far away. But, how do you keep focused when you are injured, and it’s not clear if you will even be able to run your goal race? I’ve struggled with this a bit lately. Here is what I know: I should be able to run again in 2-4 weeks assuming I heal as expected. I am currently signed up to run NYC Marathon, CIM, and the Miami Half. I’m flexible with my goals, and at this point my A goal is to be able to run/walk NYC and possibly be fully trained for CIM. But, if I’m not healed, NYC might be out of the question and who knows about CIM. I have shifted my focus in training to build the strongest, healthiest body that is ready to run when the time is right. This means doing things I really do not want to do: I’m talking to you, planks. According to my PT, I need to strengthen my core (ugh), loosen the heck up with some yoga (double ugh), continue to strengthen my glutes (easy), and cycle/swim to maintain my cardiovascular fitness (😃). That’s a lot when you think about it! But, if I do it, and put in the work now, I’m going to come out the other side a much happier, healthier runner. And this girl is in it for the long run. So it’s time to put in some WORK. I’m all in. 👊🏼
2+ hours at the gym this morning to fit all 👆🏽in... spin class + arms workout + PT stretches.

Obligatory straight mile snap 📸
Well @dataguyruns_ and I said hello to ol' Queenie today and stomped around her backyard for our #SundayLongRun , racing a few baby pheasants while we were at it.
Not easy on a belly and head full of prosecco for me from last night but we got round - dehydration besides.
Thanks to the sun for making its appearance and capturing the photo I'd SO not been planning all week.
✨Everything you want is on the other side of fear ✨as my wise little sis @alicebw_ tells me often and it’s so true!
Having had to pull out of a number of races this year (mainly due to the fear of failure and not being able to finish them) I’m so glad that I ran the @run_north_west Quarry Bank trail race 10 days ago! It was a huge reminder to me that times don’t matter but doing what you love and just keeping fit without any pressure really does matter! Mindset matters and after this race, I felt so much more positive about running again! This week, with the help of my Ironman @brookes07 I’ve managed 6 training sessions- including venturing into the weights section of the gym (something that massively intimidates me) and 35 miles! Feel through the weaker days and enjoy the stronger ones 🙌🏻!

Hanging on by a thread. It seems a little relentless in the gym right now. All means to an end though 👊
So when it’s a double workout day, including an hour elliptical doing a ‘session’ this morning (followed by strength 💪) followed by spin class this evening, damn right I’m rewarding myself with two doughnuts. 🍩 .
54 days to Chicago!!! The hype train is hurtling along now 🚆🚆🚆
Tonight's excitement brought to you by Blackhawks tickets going on sale tonight! I managed to bag a ticket for the sharks game for the day I arrive. So freaking excited to go to a NHL game, and it's the opening game of the season too!!!!! 😃
Happy Tuesday all ✌️🌱
Cruising my way to 2 marathons in two days! This was around mile 10ish of my second marathon of the weekend and I felt great. The first marathon (on Saturday) I hit the wall at mile 18 and struggled for a couple of hours but then day two saw me run my fastest mile at mile 23! Two marathons in two days was a target I never thought I would achieve but this weekend I did it. I am proving myself wrong and a lot of people in tears gone by who said I would amount to nothing! I'm not doing this for them though, I'm doing it for me, for my mental health, for my own personal goals. I will go on and achieve more, I will find the strength inside me to complete more marathons and ultra marathons and I will find it within me to say I'm proud of being me! 💪
Might have been a mistake to go running while still a bit bleurgh, but the sun was shining ☀️ & I HAD TO GET OUTSIDE. Had to wear glasses though 🤓 as eyes still too puffy from my allergy meltdown on Saturday.
Running is definitely restorative. Let’s hope tomorrow is no different 😬
Our @comradesmarathon champion from 2019 and @nedbankrunningclub green dream team athlete Edward Mothibi is finishing up his training block with his coach Dave Adam's in Dullstroom. Next weekend, Edward aims to become the World Champion over 50km in Brasov, Romania. We are behind you all the way Edward! #MoreThanAClub

(Pantaloni 👖@castellicycling e 🎽 @biciclistaofficial nuovi nuovo invece. La parte migliore della maglia è dietro, per vederla venite a trovare me e @vitali2483 da @sportlandweb_ a Vinovo 😃) #roadtomare#sportland#teamrycling
🇺🇸🌟 Chicago Marathon Training Week 9 Day 2 🌟🇺🇸
TRACK TUESDAY, only there was no track at 6am this morning so I had to make do with a lumpy field 🤣 .
When my alarm went off at 5:20am I felt tired before I’d even started the session. The weekend miles & yesterday’s marathon back to school shop 😂 🛍 🛒 has me totally done but I told myself, just get your feet on the floor, just this session to go & tomorrows is rest day & day off work 👍. It’s the only thing that got me out as the thought of this session certainly didn’t, totally EVIL 😂😂
🔺 2 mile W/U @ 10:35 - 11:15 min/mi ( 10:58 & 10:49) 🔺 HARD - 7 x 800m @ 7:50 - 8:34 ( 8:03, 8:06, 7:51, 7:57, 7:43, 7:53, 7:40) 🔺 EASY - 7 x 01:30 @ 00.00 min/mi
I could not think of anything apart from the rep I was in, I took my eye off the ball & totally missed the start of rep 6, I did tried to catch it but my legs were dying 🙀
🔺Cool Down 2 miles @ 10:35 - 11:15
I killed my legs and had nothing left I told myself that I was totally fine with walking the cool down before I hit home to prep for a day of work but now I’m home I’m like - I really should of pushed through 😫🤦♀️ #bloodyknackard#aftershokzuk#ad#asicsfrontrunner#8before8#trackday#chimarathon#tracktuesday

☽ instead of regular static stretching, do dynamic stretching. studies show that just holding a muscle in a fixed, stretched position for 20 seconds doesn’t really prevent injury and may even cause issues.
✧ check out a guide for different ways to tie your sneakers’ laces.
☽ take lots of brisk walking breaks.
✧ do shorter running workouts.
☽ turn your run into an immersive adventure game. download zombies, run if you want to run away from zombies, or the walk if you’re into spy stories.
✧ make a running mix with songs that have more than 120 beats per minute.
☽ break up your run with bodyweight exercises. run 1/4 mile then do 25 squats.
✧ go to a pro (sports store) and find the right sneakers.
☽ motivate yourself and give yourself a pep talk.
✧ wrap twist ties around the base of your earbuds and loop them over your ears to keep them in place.
☽ follow #runchat and #seenonmyrun to get inspired.
✧ make your pre- and post-run snacks into delicious rituals.
☽ get cheaper running clothes by buying them at the end of each season. shop for warm weather clothes after summer, and winter apparel right before spring.
✧ get wool socks – a ton of comfort, drier feet, less irritation, just the right amount of support, and fewer blisters.
☽ for sports bras, ask a worker at a running specialty store to find the right one for you.
✧ trick yourself into going for a run simply by putting on your workout gear and heading out for a brisk walk.
☽ use longer runs as opportunities to get lost in an audiobook or catch up on podcasts.
✧ use an app to track how many miles you’ve put on your sneakers.
☽ tie your key to your shoelaces.
✧ register for a fun race – color run, mud run, etc.
qotp: do you run?
Injured runner alert ‼️ suffering from a strained adductor.
May have episodes of tears for no known reason, moodiness, snappy behaviour, tantrums, foul facial expressions and just a general grump! 😒
Dearest Little O,
Being injured sucks but for a runner it is more than just an unfortunate event. It plays havoc with your mental health, it makes you feel worthless, lazy and underachieving. Not being able to do the one thing that gives you purpose each day and causes you complete fulfilment and content seems unfair. It makes you feel like fate is out to get you and you are the sole person losing out. Although it’s 💩 being injured it’s important to stay positive. There is light at the end of the tunnel and you will be running again, it’s not the end. It’s an opportunity to progress in other areas, cross training, strength, other hobbies or just sleep! There is always someone worse off than you so count your blessings and take on each day as it comes. You have this injured runner 💪🏻 Love, little O x
