  • As I set off for my run this morning I was rocking a tan and a big smile but was feeling a little bit lost in this running world!

Since December I have been religiously following my marathon plan and to be honest I've been struggling without it! I love following a plan, it gives me confidence and a routine both of which massively help me to stay motivated and ready to go. Since the marathon I have some brilliant recovery weeks in the sun with no pressure on running times or distances but now I'm home with no plan to follow I feel lost and unsure!

The last year has made me truly proud of what I can achieve and I am determined to keep this going! 1 year ago today I struggled round the #londonmarathon in a time of 4:14 (the heat did not help) and just a couple of weeks ago I managed to smash #manchestermarathon in 3:38 (in much better weather) an achievement I still can't quite believe!

I guess what I'm saying is I'm rubbish without a training plan 😂. I'm not a runner than can just make it up as I go along! But with my next goal set and a 10k training plan being finalised it's time to get back into a routine and go for it!!

Or like today it’s to taunt and scream at you, chew you up and spit you out...yes that was this morning. Did I give up, not a chance. Was it ugly hell yes!   • We were lucky enough to have a parent take amazing photos at all of the XC and Track meets this year. This photo is so powerful to me... This was Reagan’s last meet. Her last 800 of her 6th grade season. You can see the exhaustion in her face and heavy breathing in her posture. You can also see a pile of girls coming in behind her. 🏃🏼‍♀️👊🏻

  • Yeah mon, my Jamaica sun n’ fun getaway was excellent mon 🌞 but it is also good to be back home, at least for a little while... less than two weeks until our next adventure. Any guesses on where? 🧳 ✈️ 🏃🏼‍♀️ Easy morning miles to start this first day back to reality. I spent those miles thinking about how lucky I am to live in a place that I really love ❤️!

  • Monday morning and I am surprisingly full of energy 💪🏼 5 miles with negative splits (last mile at 6:50) and it felt comfy. Had a restorative weekend disconnecting and staying present with friends and family. Now time to get back to work ⚡️enjoy every stage/mood and #nevermissamonday !

  • Well that week went by quickly! 
I'm still resting up and enjoying my down time. Recovery is king to me and I gain nothing by returning too quickly! 
However, I am day dreaming about fall race goals! I'm done with this distance for now. Shorter and faster is what I excel at and what I'm going to focus on. I can't wait! But for now- REST!

  • Last time I ran I had a really bad run. I ran slow and stopped early because I was scared I was going to get soaked by the rain (it never actually rained). I beat myself up about it all day. But today, I was highly motivated to do well but also get back in time for Easter lunch with my family! I reached my goal of getting in the 10 minute zone and felt great after! It goes to show that you can vary by day and that it is all about mindset. Don’t get down about the bad days, just let it motivate you for your next run 🏃‍♀️.

  • Last time I ran I had a really bad run. I ran slow and stopped early because I was scared I was going to get soaked by the rain (it never actually rained). I beat myself up about it all day. But today, I was highly motivated to do well but also get back in time for Easter lunch with my family! I reached my goal of getting in the 10 minute zone and felt great after!   • Finally, a run.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Got to my favorite running path today for the first time in what felt like forever and got in some slow but mostly pain free miles. My knee still feels a little weak, my bruised calf felt tight,  I ripped off the scab on my hip because of my running tights, and I had to walk a few times, but I got the miles all the same.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s no way I’m going to be ready for my spring races (Broad Street Run and #popularbkhalf) so I’ll be happy if I can finish them (and figure out another NYRR race to improve my corral with). But honestly, that’s okay. I’m bummed about having to put aside my goals, but at this point I’m just thankful that my injuries from my crash weren’t worse. My arm in that last picture shows one of the more minor healed injuries and last week it looked way worse because my entire forearm was bruised too. I’m sure in another week, I’ll feel even better.
