The secret to raising active kids is to be an active parent🖤
Kicking off the week with a double stroller run! After logging 40 miles last week I am ready to have a week of just fun mileage with zero pressure to reach a certain distance.
This heat is crazy and even more so when pushing close to your own weight.
You want my honesty? Running solo is the easy way out where I can just go without any distractions. And I enjoy it so much because I need ME TIME. BUT when it comes to running with both boys in tow, it always makes me appreciate every mile we can achieve together successfully. I am humbled to do this in the dead heat (NOT EASY) as I know these tough moments will get me to that finish line come fall.
Most importantly, I am one proud mother to have two boys that have grown to love our stroller runs!
Cheers to a new week!
Less than 24 hours & well you will see........stay tuned 🙌🏼
Treadmill miles done ✅ My speed part on this has been wonky the last couple days. Feels like it's going slower & then all of a sudden (without hitting the speed button) it will speed up a couple seconds and go slower again 😳 Has this happened to anyone else?

Went to bed late bc it was raining and I thought run group would be cancelled...WRONG 😂. Started off walking, then decided to try and run the whole way to work on endurance...maintained about a 12:30 pace not including the walk at the beginning. The goal is a 10k at this pace or faster with no walking! Thanks Dawn for hanging back with me this morning 😁
OH.EM.GEEEEE 59° this morning and the best run I've had in weeks (maybe months)
It's no secret that running in the heat and humidity makes it harder for most people. But I feel like as I scroll through IG (while telling myself not to compare my running to others🙄) I see people who's paces have slowed maybe 20-30sec this summer. And some people have adapted so their paces aren't really affected at all anymore. MY paces are a solid 60-90sec slower than what they were in the spring. Which had me wondering if I've lost that much fitness or something was wrong with me (I did this last summer, too😏) But today's run assured me that wasn't the case; I just reallyyyy struggle in the heat and humidity.
Today's easy run was a 9:19 pace and an HR of 146. Stats from the other day's "easy" run were 10:22 pace and a 152 HR (v typical of my easy runs this summer). The difference is CRAZY! so I will remind myself of this run as the heat and humidity continues and try not to question my fitness.
Ps. Bring on fall🙌
First run in the new nike vaporfly next%. Broke them in with an 11km run home from work today.
After wearing ASICS kayano’s for about 15 years of running I switched to nike at the start of this year and honestly haven’t looked back.
2 pairs of vaporfly 4% Flyknit and now the next% added to the shelf (and 2 pairs of zoomfly flyknit in the training rotation as well). These are definitely a much higher shoe than the 4%’s but only have an 8mm drop as opposed to the 10mm in the 4%s. I honestly didn’t think it would be noticeable but it definitely felt different in the run home today, not a bad different, but different.
Threw in a quick 1km effort and pulled out a 3:24/km split just to see how they felt at race pace and although it seemed harder to get onto the balls of my feet and get that “push” these shoes are designed to do, once I got there they definitely had an extra pop even compared to the 4%s (and the 4%s were miles ahead of the kayanos id work previously)
These definitely feel more “specialist” than the 4%’s
Cons: - the reduced drop overall made me feel like I was having to put more effort in to get that “spring” effect of running closer to the forefoot - the shoes look slightly short for toe room (orders same size as 4%’s but the toes are noticeably closer to the front of the shoe - but after the run I’m convinced this won’t be an issue) - with the reduced drop my feet definitely flatten more with each stride and made them a little ache-y through the run. This had eased considerably by 6km in and was non-existent at the end - definitely less rewarding at a “slower” pace. The 4%s just make running at any pace in my range feel super easy, these feel a bit more labor intensive until I got into that sub 4:00/km range.
Pros to follow
"There was a time when one needle used to made me cry,
Now, I smile even it's 20-30 needles at a time." Running changes everything. It makes you endurance machine where you endure all kinds of pain.
Long story short, I was struggling with Runner's knee that affected my running in late May and early June. Following an advice of a senior runner, I visited @perfectbouncephysio.
She examined me thoroughly and found muscle stiffness all around. She advised Dry Needling, Cupping and IASTM(Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) on back, calfs, quads, hamstrings - a total 7 sessions where I endured 20-30 needles with vacuum cups, followed by massage with wrench like instruments in every session. 😃
Thanks Dr. Richa, I am getting back to running and increasing my mileage gradually from last two weeks.
First good effort after knee injury recovery ...
22km run with 1000m elevation in Masurie of Bangalore aka, Nandi Hills.
1.5 loops of Nandi climb + 1200 back stairs climb exhausted me multiple times. The exhaustion was so much that I had a quick nap on the way. Today, the hill was too crowded. There was almost 3km traffic jam. That made our run tougher. However, dew drops of the top took all our agony away.
Including evening planned 16k run, today's mileage will make my weekly mileage to 71km, a big number in last 7 weeks. Hope it will rise steadily from here.
Interval Tuesday! It has cooled of here in Ohio and my workout flew by..... felt great and I wanted to keep going! .
Running tip Tuesday will be posted later today. Post your questions.
Running streak day 104
