  • It is impostor put this experience into words! We don’t have hills in South Georgia, so climbing over what feels like 2 mountains was brutal. But we did what we set out to do and it was incredible. The views were spectacular and the people just absolutely special! I am glad it’s over but can’t wait to do it again!

  • Maybe it’s because I’m trying to come back from the flu and so it was an easy pace, or maybe it’s because I am a nerdy nerd, but if you had asked me if a Brené Brown Netflix special would be the best way to pass time on the treadmill that I’ve found in months, I would have said “no way!” Seriously, though, it’s so good!!!   • Phew!!! 😅 What a morning! 🌄💪💕 I got us up early (Sorry Molly) and out on our bikes for an 8am strength circuit at the gym!
Squat jumps, kettlebells, pressups, burpees, dead lifts and core workouts first thing in the morning was hard! Lol.
(So hard!)
But it definitely woke me up!

We cycled straight from the gym to get to the track for my 9:15am track session.
Today I did 10 x 300m hard running with 1m30 recoveries.
I felt strong today whilst running but I have a little niggle in my hip, so I'm be talking it easy with speed work next week to let it heal.

Molly finished her sudoku puzzles while I trained. I just cut out lots of them the local paper and stuck them into my daughter's maths exercise book.
Nice cheap home edding, there. 😄👌 After the session and a good stretch at the track we headed to Sainsburys for frozen berries and figs to make icecream.
So after cycling home with the heavy shopping on my bike, that's what I made!
A beautiful blueberry icecream made from blended bananas, plums, carob powder, a few dates and frozen blueberries.😋🍦 I'm seriously loving these warm active spring days.
With all this energy and enthusiasm in me, and the smiles from my daughter, I can't help but feel so much gratitude for right now. 💖

Squat jumps, kettlebells, pressups, burpees, dead lifts and core workouts first thing in the morning was hard! Lol.
(So hard!)
But it definitely woke me up!

We cycled straight from the gym to get to the track for my 9:15am track session.
Today I did 10 x 300m hard running with 1m30 recoveries.
I felt strong today whilst running but I have a little niggle in my hip, so I'm be talking it easy with speed work next week to let it heal.

Molly finished her sudoku puzzles while I trained. I just cut out lots of them the local paper and stuck them into my daughter's maths exercise book.

  • As a male runner who works everyday as a therapist for people who have been sexually abused, I can't stress how fed up I am when I hear about assualts against women like the one that happened last week in the Bruce Trail. I'm very proud of the response of the running community with the soldiarity event that took place yesterday (I wish I could have attended but pre-planned family events prevented this). I consistently see on Instagram stories about women being sexually harassed, as well as running in fear in secluded areas...experiences I never have to worry about. I see the inappropriate comments on women's Instagrams: they are posting about their training and people (usually men) are commenting about their bodies, completely out of context. I know sometimes the comments are just flattery, but so often they go beyond that, and this is something women are dealing with every day. I'm wondering what else I can do to show my support for women runners, but, for now, this little post is a start.
