E vocês, qual a maior dificuldade? 👇🏻

  • Laufupdate

Ohne Ziele, ohne Plan!

  • Just keep grinding✨ You’re going to be thankful months from now for the work you put in today. Sometimes it’s hard to keep your eye on the prize. That’s why I normally like to race frequently, so that my goals are never too far away. But, how do you keep focused when you are injured, and it’s not clear if you will even be able to run your goal race? I’ve struggled with this a bit lately. Here is what I know: I should be able to run again in 2-4 weeks assuming I heal as expected. I am currently signed up to run NYC Marathon, CIM, and the Miami Half. I’m flexible with my goals, and at this point my A goal is to be able to run/walk NYC and possibly be fully trained for CIM. But, if I’m not healed, NYC might be out of the question and who knows about CIM. I have shifted my focus in training to build the strongest, healthiest body that is ready to run when the time is right. This means doing things I really do not want to do: I’m talking to you, planks. According to my PT, I need to strengthen my core (ugh), loosen the heck up with some yoga (double ugh), continue to strengthen my glutes (easy), and cycle/swim to maintain my cardiovascular fitness (😃). That’s a lot when you think about it! But, if I do it, and put in the work now, I’m going to come out the other side a much happier, healthier runner. And this girl is in it for the long run. So it’s time to put in some WORK. I’m all in. 👊🏼
.
2+ hours at the gym this morning to fit all 👆🏽in... spin class + arms workout + PT stretches.

  • Bravery is the audacity to be unhindered by failures. (MHN)

I’ve thought about this morning’s run all day, trying to figure out if I even had anything to say about it. .
.
.
It beat me up. I mentally tore myself up. It was unbelievably humid, my hip and hand were injured in a physical altercation at work yesterday and could feel the bruises aching. I wanted to give up, repeatedly. I walked several times. I had a brief fantasy about grabbing a slurpee at the gas station and taking an Uber home. .
.
.
.
“if you quit now, it’s only going to take you longer to get where you want to go” was the mantra that helped me finish it out. .
.
.
And you know what, I’d actually like to thank this run. I needed the reminder that I can’t get where I want to be without pushing myself through growing pains. I also needed the reminder that as badly as I’ve wanted to sometimes, I can’t think of a single thing I’ve ever quit.

  • I needed this run after yesterday! 5 easy, hilly miles complete! 🏃🏻‍♀️ 🏔
I was definitely in my element today 🌟 Every mile felt easy and I had some fuel ⛽️ left in my tank at the end! What a difference a day makes for running!
Some days feel good, some days feel bad, and that is just how the cookie 🍪 crumbles!
Happy Tuesday Friends! 😊

  • I went for my first run in over a week today 😆
And my hydrangeas are really pretty 🌸
Kind of sucked to feel like I was starting at square zero, but if I’ve learned anything over the last year of running it’s that patience and consistency are more important than just about anything. Plus, after being out for a week and busy at work I realized and appreciated just how grounded training keeps me. This upcoming training cycle is going to be ugly AF, but I need it just as much as I want it and I’m SO grateful that I’m feeling better and ready to get after it.

  • EASING INTO IT
W9/D2: 4 mi/41:53 mins/10:38 pace
🌸
Slow going was the name of the game for today’s #treadmill miles. Nothing fancy, just shaking out my legs as I ease back into mileage after Sunday’s 18 miler. Happy Tuesday, everyone!

  • Sometimes you rock your run, and sometimes the run rocks you. Today I got rocked.
•••
The last time I remember falling or tripping while running was in 2011....but today I’m not sure what happened. One second I was looking at my watch, the next second I took two steps and stumbled over my own two feet. Before I knew it I tucked and rolled myself to the ground and of course laughed at myself. Shoutout to the guy in the truck who stopped to check if I was ok! Oops 🤷🏼‍♀️😂🙈

Descansen y disfruten🙌🏽
Buen sabadoo!! 🥰

  • I’ve heard the expression, “don’t compare your day 1 to someone else’s day 5000” or some sort of version of that. I had an aha moment while running Monday night that this should really also be applied to training cycles. I think part of the reason I’ve been struggling lately is because I’m subconsciously expecting the early days of CIM training to feel like the late stages of Boston Marathon training where I was the most fit I’ve ever been. That’s not fair to think that and although I do have a stronger base going into CIM training than I did coming off of injury before Boston’s cycle began, it’s still going to feel hard because it IS hard.

The second aha moment came in the form of an audiobook while on a 5-hour drive back from Iowa. I was listening to Sheryl Sandberg’s “Lean In” for a book club I’m leading next week and heard the phrase, “done is better than perfect.” I started applying that in my work this week while working on projects, and turns out, my “done” was what people were looking for most of the time anyway. The same can be applied to workouts. Do I want them to go perfectly? Absolutely. But if it’s not going well I’m better for showing up anyway and sticking with it than quitting because it wasn’t “perfect”. It’s time to start focusing on the things that are so special about this cycle - like the fact that I get to run my biggest mileage months through October and November, my favorite months to run in Chicagoland. I’ll get to train through summer, fall, and the start of winter in this cycle and that means seeing the leaves be so green and plentiful on trees, eventually changing colors to beautiful reds and golds, before falling off and becoming the fun crunch sound that I’ll hear beneath my feet. This cycle will be different because I am different, too. But different doesn’t mean bad. It just means out of the ordinary, which is exactly what I’m going for as I’m trying to do something I’ve never done before.

  • I used to be embarrassed to sweat or show that I was trying. In school it was cool to act like you didn't care and to not do your homework. I was called names if I performed well on a test. People teased me when I a actually ran my laps in PE instead of walking them. Why was I embarrassed of working hard? Of caring? If people are questioning you about why you're doing something, explain to them why you're pursuing your goal(s). For me, I love what I do. • Nice evening run out along the trail way and river to the hydro mill and back through the surrounding fields. Sometimes after a difficult day, I just need to switch off and let my body take over for a while so that my mind can wonder off to de stress. For that time that I’m running - nothing matters,it’s just me and my breathing - I think that’s what freedom is.
