I didn’t tell you before about a pain I got in my foot two days ago while playing Padel. I don’t know what happened but yesterday when I woke up I had a lot of pain.. It was so painful that I thought I had a fracture in one of the midfoot bone.. 🙈😅. Today it’s much better, but I can still feel a bit of a pain. Even though some pain is still there I feel such a relief cause I don’t think that it’s something that will last for long. Yesterday I thought that I would have to cancel all my upcoming races, now I’m more calm😅. I’m resting from running today and hopefully I’m back with full force in a couple of days. I wanna last forever! My dream is to be that old lady crossing the finish line at different races. To reach that goal I’ve realized that I need to train smart. While being injured I’ve been listening to my body more than ever. Right now I run more or less every second day and sometimes I have two days off in a row. Before I got injured I ran 5-6 days a week. I will take it easy from here and increase my running when my body tells me it’s okey. Two weeks until my next race and I feel ready to enjoy it without any pressure on myself. .

I managed to run 10k tonight in preparation for the Great North Run with a wheelie bin on my back. I'm not gonna lie it was grueling and both my physical and mental strength were tested but giving up is never an option. 🔹
I got a lot of smiles, some thumbs up, a few car horns, a couple of frowns, a hi-five and i'm pretty sure I heard someone mutter 'what the f**k is he doing'. I certainly got noticed 😂
I've decided to do this for 2 reasons firstly in memory of our little boy Joshua who we sadly lost following him being born extremely premature. Secondly to inspire people to keep going no matter how hard life gets. 🔹

🏅 @scmtny Marathon completed !
With a finishing time of 4:03 and 9:18/mile , I am thrilled, exhausted , sore and proud .
Dedicating this race to every #lymewarrior#momwarrior#lifewarrior : WE CAN DO HARD THINGS . That right there , the mantra that got me through the toughest part after mile 18 when my calf muscles started really being upset with me 🤷🏻♀️. Those words scrolling through my thoughts , and also telling my legs to FLY or just run/jog 😆 .. 1st half I was averaging 8:30/mile pace but couldn’t maintain once the calves bottomed out.
Still in treatment for Lyme disease and although this chronic illness becomes especially invisible when you see me accomplish this goal , don’t be fooled . Still had symptoms flare this week including shortness of breath and weakness in muscles as well as many cognitive. Many times I questioned whether I could pull off this race . My mind started to wander in that direction with a “ what r you thinking ?” A few times 🙄. But I understood my mind , this is natural for it to do . I gently redirected and said loudly ( in my head lol) I can do hard things ! That means running with my pain , waking up after broken 5 hour sleep , taking my meds this morning and catching my breathe more . I did it , it is done , I am in charge.
There were amazing volunteers, perfect racing weather for August ( 60’s , cool and rainy first half 👌🏻) , getting to meet and chat with an absolute phenomenal woman Shamita who ran the @scmtny 3100 mile race in the past and this race as well , seeing recent finisher of the @3100film race Harita Davies , and the beautiful scenery and flat course . What a perfect transcendent morning.
Oh, and the best part , the post race massage for my sore legs in the medical tent . That alone was worth the whole race ...aaahh- a moms dream 💭 😊.
Looking forward to R and R on the agenda for the entire weekend 🎉... well, sorta - I mean I do have 5 kids to take care of . But , mostly no running for a couple days at least . Feet up and sleep on !
Have a Great Weekend ✌🏻
Everyone, everyday: You ran hills, haven’t stopped dancing all arvo, you’re drinking tequila, and going to work all night... do you sleep? 😳😂 .
Barely haha. And not gonna lie, I slept 9 hours on Monday and it was amazing, but I have so much energy most days I’m just not tired. This is also actually the first summer out here I haven’t had to take at least a week off training due to my knees giving out and I blame it all entirely on CBD 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 .
"Runners run not because they want to live longer, but because they want to live life to the fullest. If you’re going to while away the years, it’s far better to live them with clear goals and fully alive then in a fog, and I believe running helps you to do that. Exerting yourself to the fullest within your individual limits: that’s the essence of running, and a metaphor for life – and for me, for writing as a whole. I believe many runners would agree.” 🏃♀️🏃♂️

Day 8: Mile 9
Running towards the weekend as fast as I can. I really like my job but I’ve found it really hard to focus this week. I have a charity walk tomorrow morning but then I’m looking forward to some quiet time with my family to get my head screwed back on. I hope everyone has a nice Friday!
