June has been all of the things. It’s been fabulous + shitty. Challenging in the best + sometimes worst way. I’ve learned a lot at my new job + a LOT about myself, my relationships, and what I want me life to look like.

One thing I know without a doubt - always take the leap. Take the chance. Accept the challenge. It’ll help you grow in ways you could only have imagined. ✨

You can talk about what you want to do so much that you actually trick yourself into believing you’ve achieved your dream.

To live your goals you must understand that “trying” is unmoved energy. It’s a form of the fatalistic thinking pattern better known as “potential.” If you don’t know how to do what you want to do, then make it a priority to learn more, but at the end of the day YOU are the dependent variable in making something happen or not.

Remember, there is no such thing as being “ready.” There is always risk, so you must commit and put yourself in a situation where you have to make it work.

There is only one way to succeed: Take action (you walk) on what you say (your talk). #actionnotwords #youvsyou

Not gonna lie - this is not something I always feel. It’s actually something I haven’t felt much lately.
.
Stressed.
Tired.
Overwhelmed.
Rushed.
Scared.
.
All things I’ve felt lately and all pretty far from motivated. ☹️
.
Those other feelings all led to me taking action - sometimes good, sometimes bad.
.
But I don’t want to take action from a place of being scared or stressed.
.
I want to take action from a place of feeling CONFIDENT, EMPOWERED, EXCITED. 💕
.
So now I’m motivated to feel those feelings. And I’m using past experience to know what leads me to feeling those things.
.
Planning. Working out. Eating well. Sleeping 7 hours a night. Moving my body often. Drinking more water + less coffee and alcohol. 💪🏻🔥👊🏻
.
This Sunday night has got me feeling hella motivated to take those actions this week so that I can get back to a place of feeling good.
.
No. GREAT. I’m not settling for good.
.
 I believe that we can all have a great week. I believe that we are in control of that.
.
So who’s with me?? 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  • Half Marathon number 7 is in the books and what a gorgeous half it was! Running through Vancouver felt very different from the big city, concrete jungle feel of Toronto. Lots to see and, with no pressure of meeting a time goal, I felt relaxed and enjoyed the moment. I even caught myself smiling at kilometer 19 instead of my usual pain face! 😃 Big time shout-out to @runderfulness who crushed this race with a very strong showing and even though I don't think she'd admit it because her competitive juices started to kick in at times, I think she enjoyed herself too 😂 Thanks @runcrswest and @sauconycanada for a great event! This felt like a great ending to a training cycle, and though the spring has been tough times, it's always good to slow down a bit and smell the roses, or in this case all the trees! 🌳🌲 Team Yu will be back for some more speedy times, Vancouver!

  • Sunday Runday:  I took advantage of the benches along the Dunn-Erwin Rail Trail... 3 miles of running, sprinting to a bench once I spotted it, then using the bench for a mini workout - for a total of 6 benches 👍

  • While our friends were smothering in the humid Alabama heat we had nothing but blue skies and cool temps for the @vailrecdistrict Summer Solstice 10K.

We didn’t completely escape the pain. They have their own way to make you suffer out here. We covered over 700 vertical feet in the first 2 miles. Good thing for the views and downhill on the backside.  Then it was back around for another loop.

This was the longest run I've done in a while, which of course, is a bit frustrating. Having lost the distances I've trained for in the past, and getting my legs - and mind - back in proper shape...it's definitely resulted in more than a few moments of negative self talk.
😬
But at the end of the day, it's not always about the distance covered. 
Sure, training is important. 
Adding in miles is super important. 
But the way running makes you feel, inside in out...that's what matters.
💕
It's settling into a pace that feels right. 
It's forgetting your worries and fears, and losing yourself on the open road. 
It's reminding yourself what it feels like to be alive, to be able to run. To truly be at peace.
✌🏼️
That's what I want from life. 
That's what I want from running. 
And I will continue to chase that feeling. 
I will continue to chase happiness. 
And I know for a FACT I will find that every time I lace up my running shoes.

Do something today that brings you peace and happiness. It makes all the difference in the world.
