  • fun fact: it took me less than five minutes to edit the picture on the right into the picture on the left 🙃
.
no big moral lesson today, just a lil reminder that (almost) everything you see on social media is airbrushed or altered in some way. don’t get down on yourself if you don’t have a flat stomach, six pack abs, or slim legs. i have extra skin (and extra flab 😂) on my stomach and thighs, and i’ll continue to rock a crop top and itty bitty shorts as long as the weather allows ☀️🏃🏻‍♀️ life is too short to worry about looking perfect!!!!

  • Set new PBs for 10k (44:04), 5k (21:15), and 2 mile (13:40)! Great progressive workout! 20 min in Z2, followed by 20 min in Z3, and closing with 20 min in Z4. Splits got progressively faster. The last three were all about 6:50 (BQ times!).
•
That last 20 min in Z4 was brutal. My mind kept telling me to trim the workout down by 10 minutes. Who would know? I would and that was enough to keep me pushing til the very end. There are times to stop a workout when it is threatening to injure you, but more often than not, you have to push through to find your true potential and take your training to the next level. I train with a Garmin 935 so all my workouts are pre-programmed into the watch and it beeps five times when I’m coming to the close of a particular set. I gave this workout my all until I heard the last beep.
•
Here’s to everyone that sticks it out to the last beep of the last set! 🍻
•
I’m just thrilled to see some injury free progress. Time to roll out and give the legs a much deserved day of rest tomorrow.

Hope you had a great hump day workout! 🐪

  • When your parents catch the struggle. Decided to do Edison's workout with him and when I tell you I felt every bit of these extra pounds 😩 lol. 2-250s, 1-150 and 1-100. I was only the pacer but I felt it more than he did 🤣, but hey anything to push them.

  • I have always taken pride in my strength. Although at one time I wanted to be the stereotypical skinny runner, I would now prefer to look like I am ready to go to war. It certainly has been my mantra over the years. That may be why I felt compelled to lift up my 6’3”, 190 pound husband, off the ground on Easter Sunday. 🤦🏼‍♀️ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I have done it numerous times before and didn’t think much of it until I felt a shift in my knee as I exerted more force to lift him up higher. Once I set him down and started to walk, I could feel the pain. It affected me greatly on steps and hills as I then went on a walk with my family. In the back of my mind, I was petrified I had sustained some serious damage to my knee. Considering I am still not at a point where I am able to seriously train for any races, I knew I could not bear another obstacle. ••••••••••••••••••••••••
After utilizing the R.I.C.E method for nearly 48 hours, I sought out the insight of a doctor and physical therapist. By this point, I was already noticing some improvement. Praying and hoping for the best, I was relieved to learn my injury was relatively minor. Moments of examining and moving my knee was all my doctor needed for his initial assessment. Based on his examination, I likely pushed my kneecap back into a groove in my knee and may have slightly sprained the right side of my left knee. The physical therapist conducted numerous tests on all of my knee tendons and did not note anything of concern. I was in no pain when he moved it in different directions and he pushed down on the knee. There was some minimal swelling at the bottom of my knee where I still had some lingering pain, and my quad muscle above my knee was tight. Some treatment was performed before I left. ••••••••••
After this appointment, the pain has nearly vanished. I have been advised that I should only need to take a few weeks off, if that. At this rate, it shouldn’t be much longer. I am beyond grateful and definitely think I have proven my strength enough outside of the trails and roads. It’s now a time to keep the dream alive and focus on the day I make my complete return.🙌🏻
