We are just two days away from the official start of Carnaval here in Salvador. Last weekend was yet another pre-funk, and now we’re ready.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, licensed beer sellers ready to go, businesses along parade routes are boarded up, and hundreds of police stands have been set up for crowd control and security. .
Grocery stores have replaced produce sections with booze and the grocery store by the house has put a limit of 100 cases of beer and 60 bottles of booze per shopper. . #salvadormeucarnaval#salvador#carnaval#carival#salvadorcarnival#carnavaldesalvador2019#carnaval2019#carn

Bet you didn’t know that Salvador carnival is already in full swing? .
We like to start early, so We start with a warm-up on December 4th for the Festa for Santa Barbara / Iensã. Then we pre-funk through a free five-day New Year’s celebration hosted by the city. .
Today the Pelourinho was rocking and carnival doesn’t even start until the end of February. We had such a great time playing and the crowd didn’t want to leave!
Day 9 of my South American adventures... After only around 4 hours sleep it was time to get up and play tourist for the day with the rest of the boys. Today was hard to get out of bed, one because I was still drunk though two as my calfs and neck was SO sore, I guess I literally danced till my feet fell off!
I tried to buy some magnesium but failed, you would 'think' the pharmacy had it, Roger said he'd help me next time buy something. I think my body was starting to complain a little from the beating I'm giving it.
We all got a uber to the old town, it was sooooooo beautiful! Look up the Michael Jackson song 'they don't really care about us', that's the town where we went! So old, colourful and unique! I'm so happy Roger took us all there for some proper culture! We had some really delicious food and walked around the city just admiring the carnival! It was pretty funny when Roger and I went to buy something for my tight muscles, no one in the supermarket lines up to pay for their groceries, who ever got the cash registers attention first got to pay hahahaha bit like at a bar!
Tonight we decided to start a little later then the rest, so after a catch up call with my bro and organised my bag for the morning (I had to be up at 7.30am to get my flight and I knew I wouldn't be in any state too) it was my last night in Salvador!
Boy did we go out on a BANG 💥 tonight was THE BEST! I think the rain mixed with the drums (and the skoll beats) did something to everyone, we were all on the biggest high! I have never had so much fun in my life and I'm so happy I got to experience it with the coolest bunch of guys, really I feel we are going to be friends for life! (and thanks to the cute little Mexicana 🍑, we rocked out pretty hard, my legs are paying the price today!) Home by 6am, up again in a hour and half to fly to Riooooo! #salvadorcarnival#carnival2017#brazil#riocarnival2017

Day 8 of my South American adventures…
Today Shervin and I went to the supermarket and bought our own food, there is only so much eating out one can do! And dude your money goes far here, we cooked up a mad feast! I had this old lady help pack our bags in the supermarket, she didn’t work there, just a customer being friendly. She was trying to explain that we shouldn’t mix certain foods in the same bags lol I love being in foreign countries!
We chilled today as the last few nights were pretty big so thought it would be a good idea to hang at the hostel and get some work done.
Work done, time to get ready for another CRAZY night!
Today we added three more dudes our crew, Brazilian guy named Roger (saved my life later in the night), dutch guy called Rob (he walked up to Alan the Irish guy in a restaurant and says “you look like you speak english” lol so he joined and an american guy named Victor, who is half Brazilian though wouldn’t pick it. It’s cool traveling, everyone is SO like minded and on the exact same page with everything, Its like we were in the ‘honeymoon’ period of our new friendship lol
Tonight we decided to hit a different part of town for carnival called Capo Grande. There was lots of Samba, drums style of music so LOTS of dancing and jumping, oh and super cool costumes, they definitely go all out on the dress ups! At one point i started to get real drunk so me and the Brazilian dude from our crew went and ate heaps of food. They have these drinks here called ‘Skull beats’ which is like a Smirnoff, the brazilians call it the ‘devils juice’ lol 8% alcohol and cost around $2 Aus.
Its so cool to see people of ALL ages all dancing and having a fun time! This has been one of the BEST things I’ve ever done and would 100% recommend you do it. We had SO much fun.. In bed by 6am, ready to do it ALLLLL over again. #brazil#carnival2017#backpacking#Salvador#salvadorcarnival#salvadorcarnival2017
