  • Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah did not get along with each other, and reportedly instructed hotel and cinema staff, to ensure that they were kept separate from each other, during the press tour for Volume 1. They were again at odds at the film's screening at the Cannes Film Festival, and ordered separate areas to be created at the after-show party, so they wouldn't clash. When the two women won "Best Fight" at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, only Daryl attended. (Uma's absence was conspicuous, considering she had gone the previous year to collect the award for her fight with Chiaki Kuriyama in Volume 1.)
Robert Rodriguez scored this movie for one dollar. Quentin Tarantino said he would repay him, by directing a segment of Rodriguez's project Sin City (2005) for one dollar.

  • When asked how he got into the violent, baseball bat-wielding mindset of "The Bear Jew" for #InglouriousBasterds, #EliRoth partially attributed his performance to the historically accurate costumes: "Being in wool underwear will make you want to kill anything." He also stated that his girlfriend had secretly added some Hannah Montana music onto his iPod; when he listened to it, it inexplicably made him able to tap into the violent nature of The Bear Jew. ⚾️

  • Man. This movie got me thinkin' some type of way. I dunno why not many talk or know about this but this crazy. This gotta be one of my favorite movies. Just watched it on Netflix just yesterday, I suggest anyone that wants a good drama to watch this right now. It's about a teacher tryna make light from bad schools. It's real good.

The Banker
Releasing: 6th Dec 2019
Where: Theatres + Online streaming
Director: George Nolfi
Stars: Anthony Mackie, Samuel L. Jackson, Nicholas Hoult, Mia Long.
Synopsis: A story of one of the first African American bankers in the US during the 1950's.
>
The Banker is an American drama film written and directed by George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau) and distributed as an Apple Original film. It stars Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Nicholas Hoult & Nia Long.
The Banker is a true story of two African American entrepreneurs, Bernard Garrett (Mackie) and Joe Morris (Jackson), who during the 1950’s tried to circumvent the racial limitations of the era and take on the establishment by recruiting a working class white man, Matt Steiner (Hoult) training him to pose as the head of their business empire while they posed as hired help. Nia Long plays Bernard's wife Eunice. Garrett and Morris become two of the wealthiest and most successful real estate owners in the country with Steiner as their front man, but their success brings about unforeseen risk of exposure that threatens everything.

This movie looks absolutely fantastic and it is clear that Apple are going all in with their new streaming services, including original TV series and movies. This film has the star power from Mackie and Jackson and a tried and tested director in Nolfi. I have been impressed with his works to date including his theatrical debut, The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt.
It is a fascinating story to tell and I think the cast will bring so much warmth and emotion to their roles. Mackie and Jackson seem to have great chemistry and this can only be helped by their work together on the Marvel movies. Hoult is an inspired choice to play the white frontman of the operation. I have become a massive fan of Hoult since his inclusion in the X-Men franchise and love seeing what he does next.
I think this will very much be a character driven drama story with a sprinkling of humour rather than an action driven film. But sometimes these are the types of movies that impress and entertain you more.
The film is scheduled to be released Dec 6th.
