LOVE FOOD HATE WASTE 🌱
I’m always a bit reluctant to share these posts. It’s something I still grapple with. Fist of all, I realise that it’s plastic. In fact this is probably the most irritating kind. It’s not even plastic to preserve freshness, it’s to encourage a multiple buy.
This, among a huge amount of other fresh produce was reduced for a quick sale at @morrisons on 18th Feb. It is now 21st Feb and these Avo’s still aren’t even ripe enough to eat. Yet if they weren’t bought on 18th Feb they would have ended up in the the bin.
I’m sharing because 1.9 MILLION TONNES of food is wasted by the food industry each year in the U.K. That is the reason that I buy these products. Food doesn’t decompose in landfill. By buying these I’m at least making sure the food doesn’t go to waste. Also - by buying food waste items I am not driving demand. They aren’t selling, they are being reduced. When I scan the item it will be marked as a reduced item.
One more thing - I try to buy local and seasonal produce for the majority of my food shop, so buying products that would be going to waste is an option for me to make my diet more varied.
Lastly, @morrisons you are making a lot of good changes, please get rid of this type of pointless plastic - and take the use by dates off produce that does not need a use by date. We are more than capable of telling when an avocado is ripe!

You have heard this many times…”eating healthy is expensive!”...but, is it really? 🤔⠀
Well, it can be if you’re buying pre-made salads for lunch every week 🥗 , but if you make it at home and you take it with you, it’s actually affordable. Even more so than the boba teas we love!⠀
A lot of us love the refreshing taste of a boba tea 🥤 in the middle of a crazy work day...we do too! And we often don’t think twice about getting it when we’re craving it, but have you thought about all the money you spend in thinks like your favorite boba or even that latte from Starbucks you love? You could be spending more than $100 extra by the end of the month. ⠀
Guys, meal prepping is not as expensive as many people think. And believe it or not, it’s even more affordable than getting your favorite Boba tea 😉⠀
Since meal prep requires you to shop with a specific list and purpose, it basically forces you to save money. You’ll know what to buy as long as you stick to the list and forget about any impulse or extra purchases. ⠀
The best about meal prep 🍱 is that you’ll make your life easier. You’ll make decisions faster and simpler, and save money and time. ⠀
➡️Here are some benefits we love about meal prepping:⠀
💥You eat healthier⠀
💥You spend less time fumbling around your kitchen wondering what to make⠀
💥You take fewer trips to the grocery store⠀
💥You save money eating out because you already have food prepared at home⠀
💥As soon as you get hungry, you can eat. So you don’t even have time to get hangry⠀
What has your experience been with meal prepping? Do you love it as much as we do?⠀

This 4 day trip was the first time I had left my kids with my husband to get away EVER. It was pretty dang awesome. 😊 I had a blast, everything went right, and all the kids (including the baby who I was very anxious to leave) did amazing!! Phew.
This was also a super affordable trip! Thankfully, I was vacationing with 2 of my sisters and my mom who are all some of the frugalest ladies around. 😊 I would have dropped even more money on fun and food if needed, but I’m happy to have spent only $781.
What about you? Are the family and friends around you frugal causing you to be more frugal, or bigger spenders making it hard to be frugal because they’re always wanting you to spend?👀💸

✨ TOM FORD SPECIAL - ALL BOTTLES £20✨ FM 809 inspired by Tom Ford Black Orchid • I’m addicted to my Tom Ford inspired fragrances. Gone are the days when I’d have a cheeky spray in John Lewis and hope the salesperson didn’t look at me like I couldn’t afford to buy it (I couldn’t 😂). So… throughout February, all Tom Ford fragrances are £20. Not only is that about 10% of what they are on the high street (nice bottle - prefer to keep my money thanks), but that’s £3.50 off my usual price and the bottles are lush and come in gorgeous boxes which feel really luxurious. As always, DM me for the full list and to order (pay by bank transfer or PayPal). And just DM me anyway and say Hi because I love to chat! Jodi x #perfumesale#perfumebargains#savemoney#smelllush

How many times have you put off doing something out of fear you might not do it perfectly? A wise woman once told me to give up on the idea of perfection and do the next best thing-Just get it DONE! 🙌❤
How do you save money for traveling? I don’t make much at my job, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Because of this, I have to make the extra effort to set aside money for trips. I don’t know about you, but I’m awful when it comes to trying to save money in a bank account. So what I do to combat this is, is I pull out $20 each paycheck and put it in a piggy bank! Y E S! A piggy bank! And then I forget that it’s even there because I can’t touch it (I hot glue the piggy banks so I can’t be tempted by pulling out the money)! The money that I save in these piggy banks, I usually use as spending money or extra excursions. I have all the animals I work with to thank! ✈️

You just made homemade fettuccine and you have some little pasta squares left on the cutting board?
Don’t waste them! 🚫🗑
Make a good chicken soup 🍲🍲🍲and instead of the classic noodles add these “quadretti” (little square in Italian)

Some of this week’s
Meal 🍴Prep .....
Did you know that meal prepping can not only save you time, but it can save you money?
I know meal prepping isn’t the easiest. However I guarantee that once you get started, and choose the proper food for you it become second nature.
And remember the food you eat should be something you like.
Most importantly have fun be creative, it makes things a lot easier. .
No matter how many different type of food I make, plant based is by far my favorite.

Two years ago, @daveramsey had me on his show and shared my story. He and his team were kind, enthusiastic and incredibly supportive. .
I was thrilled to be there, with my friends @katrolfe10 and @kittyredqueen, who came to Nashville to celebrate my win, and eternally thankful to all of my internet money friends who rooted for me while I was paying off debt and cheered for me like family when I became debt free. .
Life is so much better without debt. The options I have now mean personal security, the skills I learned to get out mean I am a great steward of my money now and will have future wealth. .
I am thankful, grateful and blessed. The work was worth it. The day to day sacrifices were worth it, they've faded in my memory now like a dream. .
I watched my show today and I said telling myself no was the hardest thing. I don' remember a single thing I denied myself... so I'd definitely trade all those things again for what I have now... freedom, options, a fun budget. 😁 soon a property and additional income stream. .
Be patient. Keep working towards what matters. You got this.
Personal finance is PERSONAL. What we spend our money on is often a reflection of our values.
When I first started tracking my spending, I was surprised by how much I spent on parking fees. I was getting too many parking tickets here in Los Angeles. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ .
Now I always look for free parking even if it means a longer walk. I plan ahead because I hold my money really tight when it comes to parking fees. .
What do you hate spending your money on?
Ahhhh... cash envelopes. Love ‘em or hate ‘em? I used to hate them. They were annoying. I always stole from one envelope to reimburse another. I felt silly carrying them around (enter- @rachelcruze with her clip system 🙌🏽). I didn’t know where to start with my budget so I was pretty much blindly stuffing envelopes with money and praying it would work. Spoiler alert: It. Did. Not.
What I have learned is that your cash envelopes are always EVOLVING especially when you’re paying off debt. I refused to use cash envelopes because any unexpected bill would throw me over the edge. I hated that I had to change my budget monthly.
Reality is that life changes monthly. You can have a structure but it’s fine if it’s not cookie cutter. Start with 2 or 3 envelopes- ones that are constant and help you gain a sense of control. This helps build confidence in managing your money. Remember, you are the boss of your money.
I budget weekly because keeping track of 30 days was impossible for my small brain. I suggest starting with groceries, fun money, and eating out.
Here’s an example of what we do: $100 fun money ($50/$50 split w/ husband), $120 groceries, and $60 eating out. That’s what works for MY family of 4 on a single income.
Start there. Let it evolve and be flexible with it. Don’t buy fancy cash envelopes if you’re just starting out. Go to the dollar store and buy envelopes that you can write on and adjust to fit your needs. To be continued...

HELLO! We have new items for your wardrobe. T&N Bow Ties and Apparel is a kid-operated clothing boutique that sells stylish bow ties and neckties at reasonable prices. SAVE $$! Shop now or later at www.tnbowties.com.
I don’t generally plan breakfasts or lunches because we are pretty predictable when it comes to the first meal of the day 🤓, and hubby and I sort out our own lunches during the week.
This could mean leftovers from dinner or getting some rolls/salami/cheese from the shops (my current fave 🤤) to keep at work.
Dinners are where we put the most effort and planning, and what the bulk of our grocery budget ($150 a week) goes on each week. 💰 I plan out 6 meals each Tuesday, add the ingredients I don’t already have into my Woollies cart for delivery 🚛, and make a list of the things I need to get at the farmers market.
Being organised in this area honestly saves me so much stress during the week. 🙌 I don’t have to think about dinner (except to get meat out of the freezer, which I definitely forgot to do this morning 🤦♀️). It also reduces the amount of extra shops I have to do during the week - which always end up costing more than they should!
How do you meal plan? Or do you wing it? Hit me with your favourite recipe in the comments!! I always need inspiration! •
