“Be Still
.
.
"Do you have the patience
to wait
until
your mud settles and
the water is clear?

Can you remain
unmoving
until
the right action
arises by itself?"
.
- Lao Tzu

Muddy water is best cleared by leaving it alone. You learn this quickly diving in the cenotes of the Yucatan. An overly forceful kick stirs up a cloud of silt, and each attempt to force a correction brings another. The cloud builds quickly and obscures your vision. It diffuses your light. The path becomes hidden
.
It is only stillness which brings back clarity
.
The cavern systems beneath our earth's surface are places of utmost stillness
.
And utmost clarity
.
I suppose it is why I come here. I'm continuing a photo project started 4 months ago - an attempt to compose images which represent my various states of mind
.
While I tend to take wildlife images most of the time, I think of this as my personal human contribution
.
My aim with any photograph is to express a feeling. And the cenotes are a canvas to express my own”

  • Watch till the end and swipe for more. This is a story of some brave and kind people freeing a sea-lion that had a tire stuck around its neck! While we applaud these people and animal rescue, these videos should inspire every one of us to be more considerate about our wastes that pollute our environment and harm our wildlife. Let's #endplasticpollution

  • Sea turtles’ bodies are hypotonic (have a lower salt concentration) to the ocean. This means they must constantly get rid of excess salt ions. To do this, they use a special tear gland which produces salty #tears - saltier than the #ocean 😢 Sea turtles may live to be 80-90 years old, and some species take up to 30 years to become sexually mature. Amazingly, a female will return to the same beach where she was born to lay her eggs, even if it is 30 years later and the beach’s appearance has changed, a phenomenon called natal philopatry.

  • It’s taken me a long time to get here. Countless hours of brainstorming and walking into walls. Everyone has thought the question, “ How do I find a job doing what I love? “ 💭⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If you would have told me years ago that I’d be dancing 18 meters underwater for a living, a smirk and a laugh would have probably been the reply. But this isn’t a post about pursuing your dreams, because let’s face it, “When I get older, I want to become a professional Scuba diver” has never been on my palette🙃. This is about taking the risk, taking the leap and doing the things you “fear”. ⁣⁣

Three years ago I was terrified of anything that moves in the ocean.... Today I feel the most alive immersed in the big blue. 🌊⁣⁣

  • Beach ready! 😎

Did you know that our towels and bags are sand resistant? It's seriously awesome! You can also toss them in the wash with nothing to worry about! :) 🐸

What's your experience with our towels? 🐳

  • Why do sharks not eat female scuba divers?
.
Because they are man-eaters!!
.
Just kidding, whale sharks are filter feeders who feast on plankton, not humans!!

  • I uploaded a new YouTube vid from a recent SCUBA Diving trip to the river! We found a Giant Ground Sloth tooth, a Giant Beaver Tooth, petrified wood, horse teeth, tons of Giant Armadillo Osteoderms, and a bunch of other stuff! Check out the link to the video in my bio! ✊
