I don't do throwbacks very often, this might even be my first one, but I find myself thinking back to this crazy Norway adventure so much, that I really felt like sharing a little more of this trip.
-
What made this trip so special to me, was that my buddies and I had fully intended to put ourselves in a harsh environment. We wanted to struggle a bit, and do without most of the modern luxuries we are accustomed to in our daily lives. We wanted a slight element of danger, and most of all, we wanted it to be a true adventure. We got all that we bargained for, and more. -
-
We were supposed to drive half-way up the mountain, and park the car at the appropriate parking spot. From there it would be a hike to our cabin at the top of the mountain. (Technically It's probably a large hill, but it felt like Mount Everest at the time). -
-
The day we arrived, a huge snowstorm had covered the area in more snow than I had ever seen. It was so bad that even some of the locals got their cars stuck in the snow, and of course, so did we. After getting ourselves stuck, unstuck, and stuck again, we managed to break free and reverse the car up the final hill to get to the parking spot. It felt like the biggest victory ever. We cheered, celebrated and laughed, for we felt like we had just completed the hardest part, and we had succeeded by working together. Little did we know, the hardest part was yet to come.
-
A gruelling midnight hike to the cabin through a thick, fresh layer of snow was our next challenge. Mind you, all three of us are quite physically fit, but all three of us had to really push ourselves to make it to the cabin. We had no choice of course, for sleeping in the snow would mean never waking up agian. -
-
But we did make it, and had to sleep in a near-freezing cabin on our first night because we couldn't figure out how to use the wood stove. Getting what little warmth we had from only a couple of candles. We were tired, and we slept.
-
If anyone has made it this far into the story, please let me know if you would like me to finish it in another post. -

  • Mutatom a pontosidőt ezzel a Seiko Alpinist SARB017 -vel. Akivel ma hamarosan megindulunk a szombati @majsair Freelancer Leszek képzésére.

  • Doing some watch shopping, for my birthday and for the future..It’s been very difficult due to my wrist size but I’m making progress! If the Oris Aquis Date Women’s (last pic) didn’t have proprietary lugs, I would have choose that hands down. I am also weighing in heavy on Seiko Sarb017. Suggestions welcome! 😎
