  • 5 June 2018 & today, 5 December 2019.  During my massive closet declutter, I decided to try this dress on. When I was last photographed wearing it, it was a month after something inside me shifted and I decided I was going to start actually exercising. I had had a stressful 2017, and it got to the point where not only was my mental health needing attention, but I was starting to feel physically unhealthy as well. And so I started doing short workouts every morning, usually between 4 and 10 minutes long, and all from @lucywyndhamread's amazing YouTube channel. This, combined with long writing walks in the park, being  mindful of (but not obsessive about) my calorie intake, and making sure to eat my 5 a day, have given me a huge sense of peace and control over my health. Eighteen months later, I don't know how much weight I've lost --numbers on a scale have never been good for me. What I do know is that I feel stronger, I have a better sense of what my body needs, and my clothes fit like they used to. I want to keep going, keep taking care of myself and see where it takes me.

  • Getting up at 430am every day wasn’t always as seamless (most of the time) as it is now. The thought of being an early riser and having to be up a second before I had just enough time to get ready for work, made me feel ill. ⠀

Here are some tips to help you get out the door quicker in the morning :⠀
⠀
⠀
1. Lay out clothes the night before. This is a must. The last thing I do before I go to bed is get my gym stuff all prepped and lay it out in the bathroom. This way, I wake up, brush my teeth, get dressed and go. There was a time when I would commute in the mornings (I was also up at 4:10 then) and have to get ready at the gym for work. I would have my bag prepped and ready to go the night before for a quick grab and go.⠀ ⠀

2. This is also the case for my water bottle and protein shaker (which I have pre workout). Everything is on the counter the night before. Once I’m dressed, I fill up my water and make my shake (I also feed my cat in the morning, so I have his dish and can of food on the counter ready to go). Then I can head out.⠀

3. Plan your workout a head of time (there is a trend here🤪). Know what you’re heading into rather than wandering around thinking what to do next. Need some help finding what to do - google it or ask for help!⠀

Eliminate the guess work. Plan ahead!⠀

  • Sometimes you need to inspire yourself!

I've been letting myself slowly slip into a state of not eating the best AND not moving the necessary amount my body needs. At the beginning it feels good to slow down and not be super conscious about the choices I'm making but over time I start to feel bad, like physically. I don't sleep as well, my stomach is upset, and I just feel yucky. So I needed to kick start the healthy habits which means getting out of BED to move and that starts a chain reaction of healthier choices. 
It's hard to keep making healthy choices BUT I know if I put the work in they will slowly come into my normal routine so o don't have to use the brain power to make the choices anymore. You know those last few seconds of every move in your workout - the final 3, 2, 1 countdown. How often do you stop in that final countdown?
 It is the people that push through those last few seconds of every move that get the jaw dropping, incredible results. You know, the kind of results that motivate the rest
of us to get up and make a change!
So, what would happen if we pushed through those last few seconds in every area of our lives? If we put THAT MUCH MORE into our projects, our relationships, our
learning, our health and fitness?
It’s those small, seemingly insignificant behaviors (like those last 3 seconds of every
