This beer truly represents our head brewer’s background and brewing identity. Sean was born and raised in Australia 🐨 to Kiwi 🥝 parents. As such he found it difficult to take sides when the mighty All Blacks took on the Wallabies every year in the world-famous rugby Bledisloe Cup! 🏆 To encompass these mixed feelings and different cultures, this IPA was produced using 2 Australian hops (Topaz and Enigma) and 2 New Zealand hops (Motueka and Nelson Sauvin), hence the name: Oceania IPA.
Initially this hop combination produces a perfume of hibiscus and tropical fruit. A refined scent of gooseberry or white grapes can be found from the Nelson Sauvin hops before a ripe mango-like fruitiness comes to play from the Enigma hops. Motueka provides citrus notes, with the Topaz shining through and providing a solid lingering bitterness. This bitterness is well balanced by caramel malts which give the beer its beautiful amber colour and pays homage to the UK, the initial influence of Australia and New Zealand’s beer culture.
We are very proud of this IPA, and we are sure you will enjoy it as much as we did making it! Available from tomorrow, and on tap at the Rabbit Hutch this weekend.
