  • As my time in Buenos Aires is coming to an end after screening “Searching for Wonder” here in the city that has become my second home, I’m reflecting on my singular experience at the #SanFrancisco Dance Film Festival ( @sfdancefilmfest ). I got to spend time with dear friends. I ran into my festival buddy @angela_rosales_challis whom I met when we were both screening in Mexico City. I saw some truly brilliant films. This festival demonstrates how powerful music, film, and dance become when they are used in concert. I was so inspired by what I saw. And I had the honor of screening as part of the Raising Voices program, which featured dance films that tackled issues of social justice. The work that was presented in that program was so powerful and so important that I was almost brought to tears both by the art and by the feeling of gratitude I had to be included in such a magnificent show. The question and answer session afterwards was so nourishing, healing, and challenging. I’m grateful that the space was created, and I’m urged forward by the sense that so many of us are taking ownership of our own narratives and telling our own stories.
