  • Save the environment !!
🌿🌲🌳🌴🌿
Every year June 5th is celebrated as the World Environment Day. Also known as environment Day, eco day, this day is celebrated worldwide by the people aiming to protect the nature. Though environment conservation is not just a one-day affair, the United Nations’ message is to inspire people and at the same time, also educate them as to why it is important to conserve the environment. In fact, ever since its inception in 1972, the campaign has laid great emphasis on the need for active conservation efforts.
The Earth, to an extent, doesn't need saving - yet. The Earth needs protecting. Superheroes aren't the ones that cause chaos and then fly in once it gets bad to fix it (that's what Syndrome from The Incredibles tried to do). Our planet - our natural environment - can take care of itself on its own. It is us that are getting in its way, abusing its resources, taking advantage of our environment with only us or profit in mind, with no thought as to what our actions might warrant even decades down the road.
This year’s celebrations, held under the theme ‘Beat Air Pollution’, called upon people to explore renewable energy and green technologies, and improve air quality in cities and regions across the world. More than 6 billion people – one-third of them children – regularly breathe air that is so polluted it puts their health and well-being at risk.
There’s another thing: the mind set of people believing that “this isn’t their problem”. But the truth is it’s “Our” problem. We all live on this planet together, therefore it is out responsibility to take care of the planet together.
We've only got one planet, so why not protect it?

  • I understand inspiration. Getting influenced. But I don't get imitation, copying or plagiarising. Because, they lack originality. Frankly, it's tiring, too. How can one go on doing something that has not come to his mind effortlessly?
.

Style... In writing, dressing up, talking, ideating... How does one sustain these actions if they are not original!
.

You may ask, what is the basic difference between imitation and influence. Imitation has no ingenuity. Or originality. It's a copy and paste job. It's not like you buying a sari seeing what I have worn and styling it according to your aesthetics or preferences. You just buy whatever you see here and imitate the look. I don't think that works for long... Because you are not being yourself. You are trying to be me. Now imagine if I wanted to look exactly like Lady Gaga! You get my point? .

I absolutely adore Lady Gaga. For her brains, her talent, her art, her aesthetics. But would I allow that admiration to cloud my fashion sense completely? Hell no. Because I know what looks good on her would appear disastrous on me.
From a young age I have inculcated an instinct to dress up my way. Write in my style. Express My thoughts. Hence, I encourage that in others as well. .

I abhor plagiarism. In any form. I believe in crediting people for inspirations. If I take a leaf out of anybody's work, I credit him. Even if it is a thought. A line that might have provoked me to jot down my musings. A look that has inspired me to dress in a certain way.
.

Friends often wonder why I am saree-ing at fashion weeks and nightclubs. I tell them, because I want to. I don't follow trends. Or replicate look sported by someone. Because that's lame. That only shows that you are not confident enough to style the clothes in your own way... I admire the intricacy of ikats and richness of Kanjeevarams everyone is wearing. But then, I feel more comfortable floating out in a simple taant Jamdani... That's me! Happy flaunting my original sartorial persona...
