Lava Beach Syndrome 🏖 is a rare phenomenon that happens only once every 75 years, and despite looking like Mars, it’s really when the light at @crystalcovestatepark hits a refractive moment for a few minutes as the angle of this caption is completely made up and I’m just curious who really reads my captions :) cool story eh?! #storytelling - so despite my caption being a joke, storytelling should really be the core of all your photography. Even a red sunrise landscape should make a viewer ponder, ask questions, want to be there. If you look at your own photo and have no reaction, then it’s likely you didn’t capture a good story. My story here was really all about the spectacular glow so I edited and enhanced that story by brining out the red tones. If it was super rough seas or windy I probably would have added haze, increased the whites, etc. Find your stories and tell them.
