  • One of the greatest moments of my life. When I had dropped out of high school my grandma stayed on me about getting my cosmetology license. She encouraged me and supported me while I focused on going to school and work. All through beauty school I worked at a truck stop waiting tables til midnight every night making $400 a week and then went to school all day. Half way through my grandma was diagnosed with cancer. She literally tried to prepare me for everything. Life, death, working hard and prevailing through tough times. I know she was smiling down on me from heaven saying “I told you handle your own business because no one will handle it for you!” Well girl I took your advice. Welcome to Brittany Deen & Co. .

  • #Throwback to working on this site for my main squeeze! Gotta be honest... doing work for your wife carries way more pressure 😅 She wanted a site that was simple but still unique and captured exactly who she was. She was happy with it, we're happy with it. #HappyWifeHappyLife

  • This subject feels strange/unnatural to talk about but I was reminded after a conversation with @llindsaybryant that I have a testimony and it needs to be shared even when it feels uncomfortable. The products I always talk about saved me at a dark time in my life. They helped restore my health, which then brought hope. I never had any intention of working this business but I couldn’t keep this to myself, so I shared. And you all embraced me and this new purpose that God graciously added to my life. But there is more to the story. We have walked through a very difficult two years. As most of you know, we have been in the valleys of infertility and going through a solid year and a half of invasive drugs, procedures, and the daily struggle of hanging on to hope. When I started sharing these products infertility treatments weren’t an option. There was just too much debt and not enough money. But God knew this road we were about to walk and that this opportunity was the answer

Through IUI after IUI, IVF and all kinds of treatments in between, we have been able pursue our dream of expanding our family without any debt and without destroying our savings. This doesn’t make the process less hard on our hearts but gosh, it has reminded me of our abundant blessings. Every time a check is written, I am reminded of Gods goodness and provision. He knew that this company would be a vessel of relief for Adam and me. He gave me a team that would carry me/our team when I simply haven’t had the strength. And through this business, He has given me a tribe of women that are a safe place for me to fall into. So if you wonder why I can’t shut up about this opportunity, this is why. It is helping make a way where there wasn’t a way before. Our story of freedom is unique but its ours and even in the dark moments, I will offer up the sacrifice of praise for what this has made possible for my little family💕

  • Running a day late for Wood Wednesday!
.
Ready ready for a wood-ucation?! 💡
.
🌲 A very clear difference between old growth timber and second growth timber. This old growth Fir 2x4 (left) has much tighter, thinner rings that give the wood its density and strength. Because of this, old growth also tends to be more stable as it expands and contracts less with the seasons. Second growth (right) is the material readily available at our everyday hardware stores. It's much softer and spongier. It's much less dense and tends to expand and contract heavily during the seasons.

  • Well....some things are back to normal after my first official day back in the office. I’m the last one to turn the light out. 💡
Numerous appointments, emails, phone calls, and research later it’s time to go home.

I literally had to ask someone to refrain from using the “F” word while discussing their case, made a few people cry by providing a listening ear, and laughed a lot while stories were exchanged.

I managed to take care of picking the kids up and getting them to where they needed to be also while the Hubs was at a coaches meeting.

I worked some legislative duties into the day also.
Blessed with the opportunity to effect change in my profession. Despite what my day holds, I always try to remember I’m someone’s voice.

  • ⁣There are 3 fundamentals of a great logo. Simple, distinct, and appropriate. I love this one that I came up with for the @evangelicalcatholic and our new discipleship resource! ⠀
⠀
⠀
It’s so simple that I’m surprised myself at how distinct it is as well! Nextstep is a resource with a branding “North Star” of human. Moving in that direction it needed a human typeface. I chose the very geometric typeface, Geomanist and used all lowercase in the type to hit home this persona of “human.” ⠀
⠀
The simplicity of the mark is appropriate to the simplicity of discipleship. Discipleship isn’t easy, but it is simple. We are just asked to take our next step, not to become saints just yet.⠀
⠀
What do you think?

  • Empty. My life is organized and simpler now, because of minimalism…but it has not slowed down. In fact, most days, I hustle so hard that I’m physically & mentally exhausted. I had a spate of bad health in the past few months that required me to slow down but I couldn’t – my body rejected rest.

It’s the busyness & not the hustle that I have a problem with. A balanced life requires a dedicated time set aside to relax, contemplate and enjoy what life has to offer. I remember my folks would set the phone receiver aside while having their evening chai. They would chat about everything under the sun while munching on hot snacks between sips of masala chai.

But transitioning from a hectic (nearly frantic) pace of life to something slower has been a personal challenge. Being so used to multitasking, I was physically incapable of sitting still and was even worse at letting my brain be still. Meditation has been quite helpful. Even more helpful has been scheduling empty hours. ‘Empty hours’ are the free period of my day. They are an hour or two (or 3!) of my day where I schedule nothing. These hours are not meant for any specific activity at all. Sometimes I meditate, or doodled, some days I binge on a favorite movie but most days I just nap. I can’t express how much incorporating this habit has improved my life.

My days are no longer a series of tasks meant toward a goal. The monotony of the day is broken up by the simple, rebellious act of taking an hour or two off simply to do whatever the hell I want.

Try it & let me know how it goes.
