On this edition of #womensdaywednesday , Jadaysha keeps it short and to the point when it comes to her role model. Thank you, Michelle Obama, for being a constant positive influence in the lives of our girls. You’re a #forever role model who embodies independence, hard work and strength. Your influence stretches across our Club, from our girls who are 8 years old to those who are 18.
My first #wcw EVER on instagram! 🌻 This intelligent, strong, kind, brilliant educator is a powerhouse of pure light-and also my dear friend. She has taught me empathy, understanding, professionalism, and mentored me in my first year as an educator in NYC(a bit of an adjustment from Virginia). From the moment I met her she has always supported me and inspired me to believe in myself. We need more people in this word like you. I am so lucky to have you in my life.
Have you been hearing Brad at the water cooler mumble things like "Kyler Murray, Nick Bosa, First-round pick... draft day... trades... blah blah?" Well, Brad won't shut the hell up because this Thursday is the beginning of the NFL Draft!
Ok cool, now WTF is the NFL Draft?
The NFL Draft is an annual event where NFL teams choose players to be on their team. Since the NFL is in the business of exploiting everything, this is a massive three-day event being held in Nashville this year.
College players are eligible to declare for the Draft after they're three years removed from high school. Unlike basketball where you can be like Zion and take one 'Sociology of Golden Retrievers' class and go to the NBA.
Here's how it works - Round 1 is kind of all we have the attention span for. Each of the 32 NFL teams get one pick in each round. (But, the teams scheme all year and trade picks, very complicated) Obviously, the best players go in Round 1.
Who gets to pick first? The order of teams who pick is determined by record. Worst team picks first, best team picks last. (This is interesting because if you were like a really good player in college...you usually get plopped on a terrible team, sucks). The NFL does this to give each team a chance to get great players, even if you suck.
Trading Picks - This is confusing BUT teams will trade an early pick that they have, for one of another team's players. For example, those cheating Patriots won the Super Bowl last year so they have the last pick. BUT, let's say the Cardinals (who pick first) really want Tom Brady. They could say, "Hi Cheating Patriots, we'll give you our first pick if you trade us Tom Brady." (This would never happen, but just sayin') Hopefully that's enough to shut Brad in the office up for today. 🏈

🐝Beyonce starved herself for her coachella diet.
🍵The Kardashians promote toxic fit teas and take no responsibility.
🙅♀️🏼JLO promotes no sugar cleanses.
🤷♀️🏼How can we expect the everyday women to fix their relationship with food and diet if their biggest idols can't step up and do better?
🤦🏼♀️Getting healthy doesn't mean being restrictive. This narrative we have been spoon fed for decades is why we have so much confusion around what it actually takes to lose fat.
🚩Restrictions and extremes may yield temporary results. It won't lead to lasting maintainable changes.
💪🏼So how to do find consistency when you are the all or nothing/ yo-yo diet type? 🤔
✅Create a workout schedule that is maintainable for your lifestyle. Don’t commit to 7 days a week hour long workouts if you know it’s impossible for your schedule. Start slow and schedule 3-5 active days per week. Put them on your calendar like important meetings with yourself.
✅Get accountability! Tell as many people as possible about your fitness goals. Find a workout buddy or join a fitness community (cough* I may know someone 🙋🏼♀️👋🏼😂).
✅BE PATIENT. Slow progress is progress. Maintainable results happen gradually not rapidly. Give yourself grace and know that progress isn’t linear.
👋🏼💓You are a smart cookie! Don’t invest in a quick fix. Invest in guidance, invest time, and invest effort.💪🏼Supplements aren’t the missing element in your routine, CONSISTENCY IS.

”I’ve been searching for ways to heal myself and I’ve found that kindness is the best way.” - Lady Gaga 💕What could be better than this?!? Bringing groups of girls together to spread kindness one girl at a time. Our GiRLiFE Facilitator @riseupleadershipacademy did a beautiful job with our “Rock Your Kindness workshop! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
“I am beautiful, I look shiny!” Those were little Marlene’s words. I always tell my eldest daughter Natalia to look at herself in the mirror, and tell herself how beautiful she looks, or to tell me one thing she loves about herself each day. Little did I know that our tiny Marleno has been listening all along, and has picked up on the idea. It truly made my heart happy. Some may say don’t let them have too much ego! However, self love is not selfish, it’s important! It’s important to teach them from a young age to love themself, love their beauty, their bodies, their flaws, their everything. It’s a tough world out there. Raising confident, strong, girls that love themself is so important to me. As moms, I think it’s important for us to show them we love ourselves; so they can love themselves too! 👭
We ache for people to say: “I understand you” or “I think you’re doing really great”. We pine for approval in some way, shape, or form- as if the fact that something makes us happy or excited or proud for ourselves/of ourselves is not enough. We ache hoping someone will turn and hold us and say: “I see you”, because seeing ourselves never seems to be enough. But for once I ask you to look at your own life and your own choices, putting aside everyone else.. and I beg of you to ask yourself: Are you happy? Are you proud? Did you do what’s best for you mentally or physically (or both?) At the end of the day, look for your own approval. You live your choices, not anyone else.
