Here's a weather fact for you.... Humble, Texas averages 0.1 inches of snow per year. That's not to say it never snows, it's just quite rare. Obviously this Texan beer was out of it's element on a snowshoe adventure in British Columbia. Sooooo, I had to put it out of it's misery which, in turn, caused me great amounts of joy. @Regrann from @ctao0 - I didn't go camping until I was 19. Not even car camping. My introduction to the outdoor recreation world was a lot of me pretending I knew how to set up a tent, how to filter water, where to put my trash, etc. I felt a lot of pressure to hide my ignorance amongst my peers who grew up backpacking. I hid out of fear of potentially being made fun of and shamed. As I became proficient in these skills and ascended the ranks of knowledge hierarchy, I started dishing the shaming and poking fun to those who knew less than me. It took me a while to realize how harmful this gate keeping was. How toxic it is to discourage others who also didn't come from a lineage of parents that took them camping or backpacking or climbing. I've been thinking about how important it is to know when I'm in a toxic cycle and having the awareness to break it.
I love to stay at yurts after a good day snowboarding or snowshoeing. Later, you sit down with your hot chocolate, play a board game, and go to sleep watching the fire. Unless you're playing Risk or Monopoly, then the morning ends in chaos cause the games take too long, and the winner is banished outside. Great family time.
This night we snowshoed up with some friends. One dad had forgotten his son's favorite blanket. A rookie mistake. The kid demands his dad goes out and gets it. His dad said he would freeze and it's a six mile walk round trip. His son replied just go back and get it.

When the world wants to swallow you up ... ok so I know you are all probably tired of snow but I took this picture only 2 days ago and I’m still having a blast with winter! That said, today I had the most AMAZING day in the desert 🌵 so things are going to change on my wall real quick!!!
I believe we are all a work in progress. Constantly evolving and growing as we learn about, and accept, our true selves.
I have met people who say they have all the answers. They will tell you how to live your “best life”, how to achieve your dreams, find your “tribe”, get the “perfect body”, define what “success” looks like. This has never sat well with me. How do they know?
We are all drawn to beautiful things. Happy things. Successful things. But how we see beauty, success, happiness, and everything else, is unique to each of us. Yet, we have tendency to compare our life to others. On social media, this means we do so without really knowing anything past what we see on a perfectly curated platform.
Here’s the thing, I don’t fit well into square boxes. And neither do you. We are all so much more than a perfectly captured moment. We all have so much more to offer the world than a filtered, edited version of ourselves.
I am not perfect...and neither are you. I am flawed...and so are you. I have bad days and good days... and so do you. I have days where I’m feeling on top of the world...and so do you. And that’s what makes us unique and special and human. I think there is so much beauty in our flaws. .
I believe we are all a work in progress. Learning to let go of perfection and embrace our mess. I believe we each have the power to enrich the world with our own unique perspectives and fire.
