  • Machu Picchu. We saved the biggest till last, well at least as far as ancient civilisation structures go. They say that the buildings in Machu Picchu date back 600 years, but the truth is that beings have inhabited this sacred site for many hundreds of years before that.
.
So what’s special about Machu Picchu? Well first of all, the Incas built everything in alignment with the sun and the astrological system. The slab walls have no cement between them but are fitted so perfectly together that they have withstood earthquakes for hundreds of years. There is little scientific understanding of how the Incas knew how to build such a thing without modern technology, but if you’re even a little in touch with the spiritual world you’ll understand that they, like many of our ancient ancestors across the world, were in a much higher plane of functioning and contact with other beings in the universe. There are several temples inside the Machu Picchu site, built for connection with the Moon, rivers and mountain gods called Apus.
.
What’s sad is that, the huge and uncontrolled onslaught of tourists here has put pressure on this ancient site and the mountain is starting to sink. Locals say it sinks about 1cm every year. Though the number of people allowed in every hour has now been limited, there are talks that Machu Picchu might even close in the next two years so that it can be preserved. There is no doubt in my mind that this site is still just as spiritually alive as it has been for hundreds of years, and these universal mysteries can only be properly explored with the telescope of consciousness rather than only our pityful metal ones, when we’re talking about ancient civilisations.
