Ps. Bukan aku orang baik itu.
Aku manusia bodoh yang kebetulan dikasihi Bapaku. Banyak kesalahan kubuat namun tak sanggup berbuat jahat.

#sokbijak 🙏😂 #sorryday #goodfriday

  • Children of the Stolen Generation, twin sisters Aunty Wend & Suze @aboriginalartistsaustralia started dot painting at a time when they both suffered with Cronic Asthma . Without conscious Intention, their passion and vision for depicting and focusing themselves on precise dots, they literally eleviated all asthma symtoms, simultaneously.
THEIR BREATH was their Cure.
All of their somewhat controversial #dotpainted artpieces depict the untold stories of the Stolen Generations, that of the generations who birthed and nutured the stolen children and the stolen children themselves. Bless

THE STOLEN GENERATIONS WERE.. the children of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent who were removed from their families by the Australian Federal and State government agencies and church missions, under acts of their respective parliaments. Wikipedia

  • "In a time long ago and not so long ago children were taken from their parents, their sorrow echoing across the land. Sorry Day follows Maggie and her mother, who watch the Prime Minister give his apology to the Stolen Generations on behalf of the Australian Government. In the crowd Maggie loses touch of her mother's hand and is lost. At the same time, some 60 years earlier, we see a group of young Aboriginal children play hide and seek by the creek on the fateful day they are taken from their families."

  • Families can commemorate the anniversary of the National Apology speech by making their own Sorry Day bracelets.
Our Activity Time for Sorry Day ( which is now available to view on SBL, read by Trevor Jamieson and Kevin Rudd), was inspired by a powerful illustration in the book (swipe to see). In addition to pledging support for the rights of the Stolen Generations and their families by wearing the bracelet, there is time to chat as a family as you plait the thread, about what the colours of the Aboriginal flag represent, about what occurred to children of the Stolen Generations, and about what we can do as individuals in working towards Reconciliation.

  • Today marks the 11th anniversary of the Apology to Australia's Indigenous peoples; the day our Prime Minister formally recognised and apologised for the mistreatment of our Indigenous people, and the laws and policies which inflicted immeasurable suffering. .
.
As an Anglo-Australian it's my obligation to help right those wrongs. I can't change the past, but I can uplift and stand behind Indigenous people and support Indigenous owned businesses.
.
.
@supply_nation manages a directory of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses for organisations to support. As a consumer, or as a business, I encourage you to check out the directory for some Indigenous owned businesses to invite to the table. .

  • It's been 11 years since Kevin Rudd delivered the National Apology. Here is a snippit from the council ceremony this morning where Miss Wagga was in attendance. .
.
'.. and the pain is as real today as it has been from the start. The Stolen Generation. Stolen memories, stolen history, stolen livelihood and stolen culture. Stolen. We have a long way to go yet, but with hope, love, kindness and a dash of sensitivity, I know we can help to heal the trauma. As Paul Kelly put it, From little things big things grow'. - Miss Wagga Wagga, Stina

  • Today is National Apology day.
This important day recognises the mistreatment of the members of the stolen generation in Australia.
Today, we acknowledge our past so we can walk the path of healing and reconciliation together.
Sorry isn't just a word. Sorry requires action.
We must persist in our efforts to close the gap and advance the human and healthcare rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Sorry means you stop doing it.
Sorry means you don't do it again.
Sorry means you do better.

🖌 by aboriginal artist @ilukaart

🐍"This is an old land
For ever nurtured and nourished
by the spirit of the Rainbow Serpent.
The land of the Darug people,
Of the Darginung and the Dharawal,
The Gundungurra and the Guringai.

An old land.

This is the new land of the convict and the refugee,
Of the European settler,
Of the Asian and the African,
The American and the Islander.
It is the golden hope-filled land.

A hope-filled land?

This is the silent sun-baked land
Of the gibber plain and granite outcrop
Of the waterhole and the rain forest
Of native title and pastoral lease
Of skyscraper and empty reservoir.

A golden land?

This is a land battered and blackened by bush fire
But look! a land of grass trees green-shooting
in the still dark-smouldering ashes;
Of wildflowers in the sun-heat-blighted desert
And of cities glistened smog-free by an autumn wind.

A sacred land!

This is the Dreaming land, the land of spirit ancestors
Of campfire and corroboree, of rock art and cave painting
A land of mosque and temple, of prayer book and philosophy text
A land of tribal elders and politicians.

And how slowly we have learnt, 60,000 years slowly, how to live with this land
And how slowly we have learnt, 200 years slowly, not to abuse this land
And how slowly we are learning, day-by-day slowly, how to share this land.

We who are black of skin, and white and brown and yellow
And sunburnt pink
Native and newcomer
Blue-eyed and brown-eyed and black-haired and fair-haired.

We will live in harmony in this land
Because this is the Land of the Rainbow Serpent

And we are the Rainbow People."

  • "Not everything that is faced can be changed but nothing can be changed until it is faced." ~ James Baldwin
I've recently come across these wonderful books by South Australian historian Alan Tucker. There are 3 in the series (written for older children & adults) showing us through pictures & words widely unknown stories of how this country was not taken peacefully, how Aboriginal people bitterly fought the invasion, & how, despite murder & massacre, dispossession & overwhelming injustice, there were also profoundly amazing relationships between white settlers & Aboriginal people. Needless to say they were by far the minority however as Alan so beautifully points out, they show us both then & now "the potential for racial harmony has always been present in Australian society". May we all as Australians have the courage to listen with our hearts to all the stories, to share them with each other & especially our children, & to know we are as much a part of the evolving story now as we ever were & always will be 🙏
