I am crying - you’re crying 😂 AND ITS NATIONAL SPACE DAY! Does not get better than this

By the way - the students here are absolutely phenomenal! They are building all different types of robots. Many of these students are women and minorities too. Oh my gosh you are all AWESOME. 👏🏻 Keep changing the world .

  • Why havn't we returned to the Moon?

I've seen interviews with people who watched the original Moon landings and most assumed that a moon base would be the next stop down the road. Image telling Apollo astronauts that 50 years later we still wouldn't have sent people back.

Living in the United States means that much of what happens in our country is governed by public opinion and it seems as a nation we have lost our sense of adventure.

A recent survey showed that only half of our country thinks we should return to the moon and only a quarter of those people think it's a top priority. There's also a significant portion of the citizens who make the argument "Why spend money on space exploration when we have so many problems on Earth?" Well, we're not spending money in space, it's all being spent on Earth creating jobs and developing technologies that can change our world. The device you're reading this on was created in part due to technology developed during the space race.
Don't even get me started on flat earthers and people who think the moon landings are faked.

Back to my original point, the policy in our country is based on public opinion. Multiple presidents have pushed a return to the moon only to have it rejected by the next president. If you believe that space exploration is important and you want to see a future where you can visit the moon for a family vacation then advocate to your elected officials. Don't just like a post on Instagram. Tell your friends and family about why we need space exploration.

It seems now we will have to rely on private companies seeking a profit to get us there as opposed to the government seeking knowledge and scientific advancement. Maybe that's a better option, maybe not, as long as we get there I'm happy.

You can see based on the new lunar lander concepts, the technology is pretty much the same as it was 50 years ago. It's not that tough we just need to make it happen.

This is all directed at those living in the U.S. but applies to everyone around the world. Advocate for space exploration to your government.

  • Today we had Space Day in our class to spice up our venture into Space 😊. The firsties had a blast at the different stations and would not let me switch off the space white noise as they wanted to act like real astronauts.
