This may or may not be an actual video of me just trying to make it through the last of the week any way possible...
Anyone else still feel completely physically and mentally drained from #SpartanBigBear ??

To start our race weekend we realized we left our clothes bag at home with ALL of our race clothes in it. Luckily the @hardkourperformance team had our backs and everyone pitched in some spare clothes they had so that we did not end up having to buy new clothes or race in jeans! If I had to I would have raced in jeans looking like a fool, no way would I have just missed out on my race!
#bigbearbeast ... the race I swore I would never do again. 🤣 I was not as soul crushed this year as I was last year.
My time was far better last year at 4:10 compared to this year at 4:26 but they are different maps and different obstacles.
I placed 13th in my age group, was hoping for a top 10...somewhere along the way around mile 7-9 I was done, mentally over it. Apparently I need to work on my #grit
By the time @jimmystratton83 took these videos I was so beat that I was just happy to not fail any of these last few obstacles minus the multi-rig at the end.
Did a penalty loop for the new box obstacle (I underestimated that one), dropped with 3 rungs left at the twister 😢, and failed the multi rig 3 grips from the bell 😢. 🥳 Takeaways:
1. I am not injured! I came out of this race feeling like I had a long hard workout. Last year I could barely walk after the race everything hurt so bad. I am going with the fact that my running form endurance is improving the other possibility being that I just didn't push hard enough.
2. I made my spear!! This is only the second spear I have made in a race..at home I can throw spears all day it's a different story in a race!
Another epic Spartan weekend! Finished 9th on my age group on Saturday in 5hours 35 minutes🙌🏼💪🏼 this year was brutal as well but definitely not like 2018 or i got stronger in a year 😍🤗 We woke up to snow on Sunday morning. And due to the weather conditions Beast got cancelled (BUMMER cause i was going to get my 2x Trifecta🤦🏻♀️), emergency vehicles were not able to go up in case its needed, so i had to do a sprint. Which was a lot of fun too (well when you cut off 10 miles from your race of course its gonna be fun and easy😂) But in overall i love the me time that i get to myself in these races. Those 5hours 35mins was for all for myself, had a lot to think about so enjoyed every second of it.
Till next time...
Which will not be long for sure👌🏼
“Just wanted to share how proud I am of my little boy Adam. He spent the first 56 days of his life in the NICU recovering from gastroschisis repair surgery (Gastroschisis is a birth defect in which the baby's intestines extend outside of the abdomen through a hole next to the belly button.) That being said my boy had a rough start in life. 8 years later he is now a strong, smart and very active little boy! 💪🏻🙌🏼♥️ Earned his first Spartan Kids Trifecta last year and working on his 2x this year!” -Spartan Mom @thespartantoughmudder77#spartanbigbear#spartankids#spartan#determination#fighter#spartankidsrace

Dunk Walls are a little bit easier to do with good company!
We had to do the Dunk Wall not once, but TWICE during the @spartan Sprint at Big Bear this past weekend, since it was a double looped course. In 35° weather nonetheless, with snow coming down 😂 We all certainly earned those medals on that mountain!!!
Thanks @heathercatherineo for the pep talk and getting us through that freezing water!
#TwisterTuesday : In 2018 I finally got the Twister obstacle at #SpartanBigBear . This was the remaining obstacle that I didn't have full proficiency yet at the time. When I finally hit the bell it was a huge sense of accomplishment and a confidence booster during a very brutal mountain course.
Every now and then I watch this video and others to remind myself of that feeling of elation and victory. Today doing that obstacle is basically automatic.
These memories are a great way to remind myself to stay hungry and keep striving for what's next.

All kinda thoughts going through my head 🤔 at this point of #spartanbigbear :
Who decided to put this obstacle at the 12.4 mile mark 🤔? This has gotta be the longest, rockiest, barb wire crawl 📆 of all time. Ok, I'm exaggerating, but I'm toast. This race has damn near 🥺 killed me.
I...I.... I can't bear crawl this, man. 😖 I'm out of gas. Gonna sit here for a sec, get my shit together, and ass-slide the rest of the way.
This video was taken during the Big Bear Sprint this past May. The Beast was shut down on Sunday and they made the Sprint into 2 loops - so that meant 2 spear throws, 2 sled drags, 2 rope climbs, 2 dunk walls, etc. Throw in some rain/snow, mud, and 35° weather and you've got yourself one miserable race 😂
“Losers quit when they’re tired. Winners quit when they’ve won.”
Believe it or not the only other time I’ve run this many miles at once was at #spartanbigbear earlier this year. Prior to that my max was 9 miles so to put up these numbers as my final big run before #spartannac2019 is a huge confidence booster.
I made the decision after #spartanportland that I was going to make some changes and even though the Portland race was only a week ago, the changes are already yielding results.
Today’s run I felt like folding it in after the 6 mile mark. I managed 10:35 avg mile uphill and 8:35 downhill at that point and when I got downhill my body wanted to stop but my mind said you’re not done.
I pushed through the pain and carried on in search of my goal - 12 miles. And because I didn’t quit I noticed that my average mile time was creeping sub 9 per mile. Now I had two goals - a 12 mile run and an average of sub 9 minutes per mile.
As I bombed down the last hill and crossed the 12 mile mark my time also crept under the 9 minute mark finishing at 8:59 avg mile. Success!!!
I was so pumped that I let out a rebel yell at the bottom not caring that there were people all around.
I was just as proud of these numbers as I was the fact that I didn’t quit until I won.
Now to taper as I head to #spartanwestvirginia later this week.
Keep moving y’all! And don’t stop until you’ve won.
2019 Mission Accomplished, baby!!!
All five Spartan U.S. National Series races, plus my epic battle in the Dubai desert at the Middle East & Africa Championship, are complete, finished, in the books.
This was my personal Mission Impossible. Since I started all this a couple years ago, I’ve only been healthy enough to make it to 30% of the races I’ve registered for. That was not going to happen this year. It doesn’t matter how many times I fail. I’ll always bet on me.
In 2019, I had to go huge, baby.
It’s been one hell of a ride. In January and February, I was sick between every race. I healed various injuries with meditation and different biohacks, while flying to a lot of the races. It’s incredible what I can do with my mind when flying on airplanes.
Now, I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been, in the best shape of my life, and having more fun than ever. I’ve made it to 100% of my races: Six Spartans and three triathlons, so far.
I really feel like I’m just getting warmed up. #spartandubai#spartanjacksonville#spartanalabama#spartanseattle#spartanbigbear#spartanutah#spartanusns2019#relentless#unstoppable#spartanrace#impossibleisnothing#riverrecovery#medalmonday

#BeautyandBeastmode Friday! Following one of my inspirations @vanessacnfitness’ lead! Love seeing the changes in my body and how much stronger I’ve become both mentally and physically. I enjoy dressing up just as much as I enjoy playing in the mud.
I could make a cheesy post about swing into the race weekend; I could make a post mentioning my @beastgoodr King Cash’s Mescaline Mocktail in honor of my flight out to Vegas tonight; I could make a #tbt post about this being a picture from the last #SpartanUSNationalSeries2019 at #SpartanBigBear . Really, though, this is just a badass picture that I wanted to post.
Coming off of #SpartanPalmerton , it hasn’t sunk in yet about the absolute epicness of this coming weekend. Tonight, I’m on a flight to Vegas where @the_ocr_carpenter, @heathercatherineo, and I will then drive to #SpartanUtah for the last race in the National Series. I’m currently sitting in the top 5 in 30-34 and would love to pull off a performance of the season. Then I’ll get to spend some time with one of my best friends, and newest Utah residents, @kauf219 before hopping on a grueling red eye, with a layover in Orlando, to make it back to Boston in time to see the Champions of Europe @liverpoolfc play in my favorite place everrrrrrr @fenwaypark. So as you can see, a badass weekend deserved one hell of a badass picture.
Happy Thursday, Friends. I hope your weekend has the potential to be sheer awesomeness like mine. Let’s go kick some ass. 👊🏼👊🏼
Grateful for another great year 🥰😍 thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today! I feel blessed to have so much support around me! >>>> Swipe for some throwbacks >>>>>

Eyes on the Prize 🏅
"The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus." - Bruce Lee
Always look where you're going. Now that half the year is over, it would be easy to "take a break" and lose focus on what I set out to do this year. But the facts remain that I have 30+ miles coming up in about a month. I have to crank it up and keep my eyes on the prize.
Yesterday's hill repeats left me missing Big Bear 🐻 It's been one of my favorite races of the year. It's always nice to the @fitness.on.fire tribe cheering through that last barbed wire crawl. And the Helix is wayyyy to fun. Gotta keep my eye on the bell.
#tbt in the past six months, I raced 3 + 8 + 13 miles through obstacles and HELLA mud to finish the Spartan Trifecta 🏅
2nd pic is from my first race the SoCal Sprint, 3rd is from Las Vegas Super, and 4th from the soul-crusher Big Bear Beast. It’s named that for a reason lol
It was brutal, BUT... I’m planning to race a Sprint again in December, this time in a competitive age group heat. Feelin ready to grind hard & absolutely crush it 😤
#fbf to last month’s Big Bear Beast. I left it all on the many inclines and obstacles that day. The post race beer was probably the best tasting beer I’ve had in my life 🍺🤣 One more Stadion race to go at Oracle Park (formerly AT&T Park) in November. Looking forward to the yellow medal! It will also be my first competitive race since I’m signing up for the age group. Time to see what I’m really made of out there! #spartanstadion #spartanbigbear #challengeyourself #spartantraining

My first @spartantrail 10k with snow in May?? It was cold but it was so much fun! Running down hill makes me feel like a kid again!
Sometimes, things don't turn out the way you expect, like this A-frame cargo flip 😂😂 Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

Posted @withrepost • @_mfrae "As the summer begins, many kids lose access to the regular meals they are used to receiving at school and food banks have an increased need for supplies. Peanut Butter is usually on most "items we really need" lists for food banks.
So, this month, your challenge is to do something awesome for your community while getting in some great rucking miles.
In addition to your regular ruck weight, put as much Peanut Butter (or canned goods) as you can manage into your ruck. Then, head off to your local food bank. "

Important message from client @jaymedelrosario about what you can control: your attitude.
Spoiler alert! She took 4th place and had a blast ☺️🙌 Big Bear Spartan Beast
Here’s what I know:
- Stop number 4 of the @spartanrace national series
- 5300 ft of climbing
- Steepest incline will be close to 40% (multiple)
- 12.6 miles and 33 obstacles, half of which are in the last 1.75 miles
- Final obstacle gauntlet: 11 obstacles testing grip and strength, including a spear throw
- This course has been deemed in the past as the “Spirit Crusher”
What I don’t know:
- If I’ll have fun
What I can’t control:
What I can control:
- My attitude, perspective and by association, if I can have fun on a course/racing (uhhh hiking a.k.a walking like the living dead 🤣) on Saturday.
Seattle already crushed my spirit, so that’s all taken care of. And what I’ve only admitted to one person, I haven’t had fun racing and training since mile 2 of the Seattle Super. But where motivation is lacking, discipline enters. One day at a time, one dragging foot in front of the other.
Good news: I woke up excited this morning. Good luck to everyone tomorrow and see you out there! @spartanwomen let’s show this mountain who’s boss! #legday here we come 😂 📷 credit @warrioraidashark shot: from Tahoe, the last time I refused to get my spirit crushed. Last beast distance and mountain race I ran. #homecoming@gritcoaching@beyondmacros
There's no better feeling than running above the clouds 🏃🏼♀️!

“I have one power. I never give up.” – Batman
A Medal Monday salute to my fellow Spartans who know the pain of pushing through mental and physical barriers, preconceived limits, body aches and sprains...all for one goal.
That is when you discover what you're truly made of. Big Bear Beast was a breakthrough for me this season and I learned some amazing things on that course. Now nearly halfway through my 6x trifecta goal for 2019, I'm gearing up for summer races in NY, PA and HI.
I appreciate everyone I've come across during this journey and look forward to seeing you all out there. 👊
1st national series race of the year #spartanbigbear ended up in 2nd. Looks like I am going for round two for my 2nd national series race in Utah about 39 days a way. I am excited because we got about 12 of us from Team Phil.4:13 going and we haven’t raced in Utah before. Another adventure for the team. 👊👊👊👊
I will never forget last year running the super in Diablo and I saw @kacole41 running almost the whole way with her bucket. To this day haven’t seen very many if any elites doing this probably why she should be running in elites a complete stud. Anyway it motivated me and since then I have been able to run with my bucket not the whole way but so much better than most. Those little seconds add up when your going for the podium. Look at ways you can cut off here and there and trust me it matters if your going for time. Train your bucket carry most really die on this section and it’s $5 at Home Depot you just need a good hill!
