  • We rescued our first bully breed dog, Ace, right off the street in March 2015. He was an American Bully- we knew nothing about his past except that he had been used for breeding- and he was an exceptional dog. So calm and even-tempered. The veterinarian said he was around 7 when we got him and we only were given 3 short years with him before he passed (they think it was an abdominal tumor that burst) but from then on we knew bully breed dogs were the ones we would forever advocate for. I first saw Tucker at the Humane Society 2 months after losing Ace, he was filthy and jittery and something immediately told me he was what we needed to make our lives feel whole again. Fast-forward a year and I was so damn right. His personality turned out to be the complete opposite of Ace’s. I have actually never met a dog with as much personality as him; he has taken me on a wild ride trying to keep up with him. It was through Tucker that I became enthralled with dog behavior, took the time to invest in obedience training, started volunteering at the shelter, found out about tons of amazing brands, organizations and small businesses supporting pitbulls and rescue, and made lots of friends in the rescue community. He certainly has some neurotic tendencies what with his circle-spinning, zoomies, mouthing, loud snorting, and being my constant second shadow. But that is what brightens my days. He makes me laugh. His happiness and enthusiasm is contagious. It comes in handy for someone who struggles with depression. Our bond has grown stronger with each day and when I look in his eyes I feel like we just understand each other. He’s just so lovable and I wouldn’t change anything about him, even when he’s difficult and is work. He is without a doubt, my up when I am down.
