Well damn I’ve been a bit slack in here lately. I’m so sorry!
But this week I thought I’d have a little chat about one of my favourite forms of photography - street photography. Especially in light of one of my favourite street photographers having a new exhibition opening in London that I am absolutely gutted I won’t get back to see - Vivian Maier and her colour images.
I started out with photography taking images of flowers and trees and buildings. But their staticness left me a little bored, in all honesty. I discovered street photography years later and realised that what I loved about capturing images is the ever changing environment, how anything can happen and at just the right second in time you could capture it in an image - now permanently immortalised. That’s pretty darn exciting if you ask me!
I wouldn’t say I’m particularly great at street photography - there are plenty of amazing examples and photographers out there. But if there’s nothing else for me to do, it is one of my favourite things to work on because it is always a challenge.
Have you ever tried street photography before? Thoughts?
