  • Well it’s not awkward...it feels awkward. I feel at times I should be going at 100mph but God says “Steady let’s do 50mph. “50mph ?! I’ll get no where at this point” I say. God repeats himself “50mph and steady.” “Lord can’t see you see the cars beside me, they are zooming past.”
Again He says “50 and steady.”
So I’m here steady when I know I can go faster. 
The difference between me and God is that I want to do 100mph with no idea what’s ahead and He says do 50mph knowing my start and finish, knowing my destination. 
So now it may feel awkward at times, this steady thing, but I have peace, and I know there are ways and places God is taking me that I can’t get to by myself. @k_essel_styles reminded me at the @flowingriversuk bible session to be content and that it’s dangerous to try escape the struggle of this season thinking the next is struggle free. That’s a trap. Every season has its struggles. I’m building my muscle here and mastering overcoming the struggle of this season. Whatever God is saying hold onto that. 
50mph is my speed. You might be 10mph, 100mph or even stop the car! The speed isn’t what matter but God’s pace is everything.

  • Unbeknown to him when Shakespeare coined this timeless quote was the fact that the message it carries provides a fast track to freeing the mind from stress, anxiety and emotional suffering.

Clinical research is showing without question that the key to ending stress and emotional suffering is not to try and change the variable responsible for the suffering but rather our response and judgement of the given variable.

I saw this powerfully in my own life when my work in cancer research required me to drive in heavy commuter traffic to Southampton every day, something that caused me huge stress. Needing to find a way of re-perceiving this, I decided to use the hour of traffic as a “creative hour” with a dictaphone. This provided over 90-minutes a day of creative work, building up huge course content in what was otherwise dead time. This period became so productive I generally looked forward to the commute and the creative work I could generate during it, something that ultimately led to the formation of Mind-Body Medical.

Thus the stressful event was the same but by changing the way I thought of it, it changed from a damaging negative time to a healing positive time. Victor Frankl proved this approach to also work in a situation as acute as the Nazi concentration camps.

If we can learn the skills of non-judgement and detachment, it opens up limitless positivity and emotional energy and paves the way for the cessation of emotional suffering. These are all techniques that we will explore in detail during our 2-hour interactive seminar The Empowered Mind, Thursday 25th July, online! Bookings via the webpage (link in bio) .

Bij het lezen van dit stukje uit het boek van Brené Brown dacht ik “fuck it, ik ga nu een video hierover opnemen”. Check mijn eerste insta stories video, staat tevens vastgepint onder “boeken”.   • I was mind blown!💥🤯 When I was a kid I loved magic, I had a Paul Daniels magic set,
I loved the idea that anything was possible and always wanted to know how the tricks were done.

When I was at University in the year 2000 one night in the student bar they had a stage hypnosis show,
I was intrigued as it seemed a bit like magic to me.

It was a fun night I remember having similar thoughts and trying to work out how she did it,
was it real?
If it was real, could you really change someone's behavior that quickly?

This played on my mind for a long time as I had grown up in a not so happy family,
I had terrible anxiety and felt stressed a lot, I never felt relaxed.

I let this push me towards overeating, I had cravings and an unhealthy relationship with food.

I wondered “what could you really change with hypnosis if you wanted to?” I wanted to understand more and I was really struggling with the way I was feeling,
feelings of panic and fear were my norm.
so I found a course on the internet and took a huge leap out of my comfort zone.

I came back with so much excitement, 
I had experienced some incredible things,
I now understood how people can change and change quickly,
I felt like a different person,
I was so happy I had left a large part of that nervous wreck behind,

The amazing thing is you can apply the techniques and ideas to so many situations,
so many possibilities and positive changes can be made.

just a few examples…

It can help you lose weight
It can help you with cravings
It can help you feel confident
It can help you let go of negative memories
It can help you stay focused on positive things in life

So for anyone that didn’t know I'm, not just a kickboxing instructor or a weight loss/nutrition advisor,

I feel like hypnotherapy is my superpower,
You can have the body and the life you always wanted even when it feels impossible.

  • I can’t believe what stress and exhaustion can do to the body. Especially my left side won’t cooperate like want to. It needs more stretching and balance is worse. I hope it goes away soon. Perhaps I need to attend the yin yoga classes again to create more peace everywhere. Not it was like that before. I thing what wasn’t good, is worse now. I guess that’s the state I am in. It also means I need holiday, that will be soon. In the meantime I should do my exercises more and not expect to much. Just being there, feel the postures and move my body like it needs to.
