You'd never know that behind the dog that you see curled up in a ball in the shelter, lies a sweet, treat-loving, special gal named Cocoa. Cocoa is housed with multiple dogs, but isn't quite sure what to make of this living arrangement, so she just finds the best place to lay down to nap. Take her outside and she'll light up. She may need a few minutes to shake off some of that grump, but her sweet nature doesn't allow her to be grumpy for too long. We'd love for Cocoa to find a furever or foster home so that she can enjoy her naps in peace. #adoptdontshop#adoptfosterrescue #summercampfun#cocoa#adoptme#fosterme
This article about "snowplowing" for kids today is exactly why we started Find Your Path Utah. To help youth experience challenge, take appropriate risks, lean into discomfort, learn from adversity, and develop confidence. And the recent college scandal is just an example of snowplowing on steroids. We as parents so want what's best for our kids and want to help in any way we can, but in doing so, we are depraving them of so many lessons and skills that they can only learn for themselves by forging their own paths and having the space, and obstacles, to figure it out. Some resonating points from the article:
• Julie Lythcott-Haims, author of "How to Raise and Adult", who states that the cause are parents who had never let their children make mistakes or face challenges. "The point is to prepare the kid for the road, instead of preparing the road for the kid."
• Snowplowing has gone so far that many young people are in crisis, lacking these problem-solving skills and experiencing record rates of anxiety.

Tides are an interactive combination of forces between the Earth, the moon, and the sun.
They have several impacts on the shoreline, and in human activity. Tide prediction allows surfers to choose the best time of the day to catch waves... Tides change our favorite waves and spots, but they also alter the way we surf them. With time, experience and observation, you'll notice that tides can be more important than the classic swell variables of height and period.
