I saw the craziest thing on our travels today, a big group of people standing outside a tanning studio smoking 🤔 Since being in the #uk I have noticed how many #sunbed studio's are around 👎 There is just about one on every corner, I am sure there are more than there are pubs - now that is saying something 😂 Except it is not a laughing matter 🙄
#sunbeds are banned in #australia (& Brazil & some states of the US) & for good reason ✔️ Just like the sun, solariums release UV radiation, which can seriously damage skin, harm your eyes and cause skin cancer ☀️ Tanning in solariums can be especially dangerous, as the UV radiation from solariums can be much stronger than the midday summer sun 😵Solariums are not a 'SAFE' or 'CONTROLLED' way to tan ⛔🚫 Research has shown that people who have ever used a sunbed are 20 per cent more likely to develop melanoma later in life, compared to people who had never used one 😥
And those who started using sunbeds before the age of 35 were 87 per cent more likely to develop melanoma compared to people who have never used a sunbed 💣
Here are some sobering stats for those who reside in the #unitedkingdom 🏖️ Around 13,000 Britons are diagnosed with skin cancer each year and it causes 2,800 deaths. Malignant melanoma kills around six people every day in the UK 😥 don't #dieforatan 😮
☀️☀️Keep your tan topped up after the amazing weather this bank holiday on our sun bed here at The Hair Market☀️☀️ #sunbed#tanning#beverley

Who's a sunbed user? I am 🙋🏼♀️
After having a brain wave why my hair could be feeling dry after using the sunbeds it came to me, we moisturize our skin using a tanning accelerator before and moisturize after to stop our skin drying out (yes I know the risks) so why not our hair? sunbeds dry your hair out not only from the heat but also the UV rays damage it, but I like to have a little bit of colour before I go away. It's what I do, I'm sure other people do it as well.
You can use a shower cap in the sunbeds, I tried this but I was so paranoid it was going to catch fire from the heat as it's plastic, I'm sure there are heat tests on them before they're sold but we don't know for sure. So I just couldn't do it I took it off half way through! There's also wrapping your hair in your t-shirt but again that just made me too hot and my scalp sweat and made it feel dirty, sweat has salt in and can also cause dryness. So I put my hair in a bun, I have a 100ml clear travel bottle of conditioner mixed with water in my bag and just apply that throughout it all with praying hands to get some moisture back in. You can get spray for your hair that filters UV but I don't have it 💁🏼♀️ so my hair isn't being protected from UV I'm just trying to maintain the moisture!!!
You can see through all 4 slides how different my hair has looked & for me this is the best way! I'm not paranoid I'm going to start a fire 🤦🏼♀️ my scalp doesn't sweat, my hair is up in a bun so it's all out the way & I'm getting moisture into it afterwards pretty easily. 💖
Javisst, jag stickar vidare på Barbies finklänning i rosa och silver. Barbie provar både klänning och en ny vit solstol idag. Båda passar fint! 🌞🌸
Oh yes, I keep knitting Barbies fine evening gown in pink and silver. Barbie tries both the gown and new white sunbed today. They both fit perfect! 🌞🌸
When I hit 50YO, I was a crying mess. I felt weak, like a wilted flower. My #MassageTherapist recommended #Fabutan#Canada#Sunbed for #VitDproduction
I told him he was crazy. I don’t suntan, it makes cancer.
Well he was right. After 6 months of crying, I went and tanned for 8 min and I felt stronger. I felt dryer. I felt better.
Since 2011, I have gone to tan every week. Feel so much healthier. #peace#collagenbabe#vancouver2019 .
Posted @withrepost • @drmarkhyman With the long days of the summer finally here, it seems suitable to spend a little time talking about the “Sunshine Vitamin,” vitamin D. This is actually a funny name for this compound, as it’s actually a hormone and not a nutrient, but for the sake of brevity, I’ll stick to calling it a vitamin. ⠀
You might be wondering why we even need to worry about vitamin D. If it’s a hormone, our bodies should just produce enough of it, right? ⠀
Actually, no. ⠀
It’s called the Sunshine Vitamin because our skin contains a certain type of cholesterol, that when stimulated by UVB rays from the sun, forms vitamin D3. It then goes through additional processes in the body, like conversions in the liver and kidneys, to form various derivatives that benefit that body. ⠀
This process can be inhibited in many ways: time of day, location, cloud cover, season, age, and skin color can all influence your vitamin D production. ⠀
So how can we get more of it? ⠀
Well you know I always turn to food first. While the sun is still the best source, you can get some vitamin D from liver, cod, herring, and sardines. Mushrooms and eggs also contain vitamin D. ⠀
Getting outside in the sun (without sunscreen) for just 10 to 15 minutes a day, with light hitting the arms and legs, can generate enough for most of us. It will also help regulate your circadian rhythm for a better night’s sleep.⠀
While you’ll need to prioritize your sun exposure for optimal vitamin D synthesis, it’s important to be careful to avoid over-exposure that can lead to skin damage. ⠀
