Yesterday was Earth Day, but really, every day should be Earth Day! We can do so much on a personal level year round to reduce our consumption of resources and non-recyclables.
In Edinburgh, we are SO lucky to have several shops which support leading a more sustainable lifestyle. This weekend, I finally checked out @the.refillery.edinbugh in Newington. The shop has a great selection of loose foods and ingredients, making avoiding plastic so much easier! Just bring your own jars and fill 'em up!
I often find that plastic-free snacks can be difficult to find, but thanks to shops like The Refillery, it's becoming increasingly possible. This weekend, I bought loose dried apricots, organic almonds, cashews, rice puffs, and roasted green peas and fava beans. Not only is all of this plastic-free, but it's also healthier than the processed and pre-packaged foods we so easily find in grocery stores. In fact, I really should have brought more jars with me to The Refillery because I could've bought so much more.

Are your wraps looking a little sad? Cracking is unfortunately unavoidable with beeswax wraps, but it’s just cosmetic. If you would like to quickly refresh your wraps it’s so simple and relatively mess free.
1. Grab some parchment larger than your wrap.
2. Set your iron to the lowest setting (mine is silk/synthetic)
3. Place a piece of parchment paper larger than your wrap on top.
4. Firmly but gently iron the wrap, make sure you go over all corners and edges, you want to melt the wax but not burn it
5. Promptly remove the top piece of parchment and pull the wrap off the paper underneath
Some people say that putting it on a baking sheet and sticking it in the oven is the best way to refresh your wraps, but it’s quite messy and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Making progress with site clearence. We had to cut down dead trees for safety however we are stockpiling the wood to eventually use in our wood burning stove! Plans for the house have been approved, next stage building control.
