“Canto VII” violin inspired by Dante’s Inferno.
In classical antiquity, the cornucopia (from Latin cornu copiae), also called the horn of plenty, was a symbol of abundance and nourishment, commonly a large horn-shaped container overflowing with produce, flowers or nuts.

One of our concert halls - Derzhavin palace.
This vast villa, which was the home of the Russian classical poet Gavrila Romanovich Derzhavin (1743-1816), consists of three buildings on the banks of the Fontanka River. The greatest Russian poet of the 18th century and a prominent statesman in the reign of Catherine the Great, Gavrila Derzhavin bought this plot of land next to the Fontanka River for his suburban villa in 1791.
From the 1790s right up until Derzhavin's death, the poet's house was one of the cultural centres of St. Petersburg, a focus for the creative life of the capital. It was a gathering point for the artistic, literary, and political elite of Russia, including the poets and writers Denis Fonvizin, Nikolay Karamzin, Vasiliy Zhukovskiy, the fabulist Ivan Krylov (the "Russian La Fontaine"), and many others. From 1811 onwards, the mansion's two-storey hall played host to meetings of the famous literary society the Lovers of the Russian Word.
The Youth symphony orchestra regularly perform concerts at this palace.

Un ensayo en el escenario antes del concierto es siempre útil para probar la acústica del lugar y adecuarse al espacio, es muy importante sentirte cómodo cuando tocas y por eso hay que familiarizarse con anterioridad... • • • • • • • •
When your instrument is bigger than you 😂 and she’s 5’3” so it’s pretty tall!
We were so SOOO proud watching Virginia and all of the other orchestra members tonight. This is only the 4th year Grand Blanc has had an orchestra class, so the first group of 6th graders are now 10th graders, and we combined schools for tonight’s concert.
1st video- Virginia is in all black standing in front of the stage, you can hear her in the very deep notes
2nd video- 8th and 9th graders performing the theme from “Brave”
3rd video- high schoolers combined with wind, percussion, and brass instruments to create a symphony orchestra, playing the Harry Potter theme 🎻🖤🎻🖤🎻🖤🎻🖤🎻🖤🎻🖤🎻 #doublebass#symphonyorchestra
