  • When I was 15, while playing ball at my homeboy Chris’ house, I broke my wrist in 3 places. The injury was severe and needed immediate attention. Healing would take around 2 months. During that time, I was unable to play the sport that I loved so much at the time. Not because I was afraid, but because I didn’t want to risk re-injury. In order to properly heal, I’d need to stay away from what caused the injury in the first place.  I had previously broken an ankle and not let it heal properly and was dealing with permanent damage due to my inability to allow time for it to heal. So, I knew this time what not to do. 
This is a lot like our lives. Many of you have been broken in certain areas of your life and find yourself still dealing with emotional aches and pains and soul sores because you didn’t allow the time needed to heal and you didn’t stay away. Instead, you kept on playing through the injury and now your injuries are far worse than they would have been had you left. No matter what you face, and who you face it with, if it breaks you to the point that your injuries are severe or life threatening (meaning harmful to your way of life, goal, morale or otherwise) leave them alone. Trust me, you will heal, things will get better and you’ll better having left them alone. Do what’s best for you. -B. Stewart

  • I wrote my book, “Drop The Weight” after one of the hardest times I’ve ever gone through personally in my life. Much of which, I dealt with in secret. However, thinking back, I can say that one of my most rewarding accomplishments from that period was when I gained the strength, will, and unwavering courage to finally push past, let go, and finally drop everything I had no control over. For years, “stuff” had become the “weight” that was holding me down and keeping from being the best me I could be. There would be no me today had I not surrendered back then. I had to free my spirit and mind of the hurt (past and present), fear, disappointment , and resentment. And so must you! I encourage you to do it today. Stop holding on to things you have no control over and can’t change. Whether it be friendship, relationships, attitudes, beliefs, job, or whatever. Don’t hold yourself hostage to your own expectations. I say it all the time. Free yourself. -B. Stewart

  • Perspective is everything. We’ve all heard the phrase, “I was at my lowest, then...” Some of us have even said it. However, I’d like to offer a different perspective. I believe it’s at your lowest point, that you’re open to your greatest change. You are never more aware, never more alert, never more open to change than when there are no other options. When we go through trials that break us down to our most vulnerable state, desperation leads to submission which often causes the awakening that provides the insight we need to bounce back, make corrections, change our path, or do whatever we need to do to get back in line. Remember: Awakenings Over Acceptance. I challenge you to see your lows as awakenings and watch how quickly you’re able to bounce back. Learn from your lows. Change your perspective. Watch your words. Make it. It’s never about the fall, it’s always about how you get back up. -B. Stewart

  • Life won’t always be peaches and cream. Thats a given. However, just because you can’t see the good doesn’t mean it’s not there. You have a responsibility to yourself to pull as much positive energy, optimism, and light into your life as possible on a daily basis! There’s a saying that say’s, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” But who says you have to accept the lemons? Sure, you could make lemonade. That’s fine. Lemonade is good. But me, I’ll find other fruit. I don’t just accept what life gives me me as a final option. Life may give it, but I ultimately decide how it will make me feel. I am the master of my moods. And at the sake of elevating my “heart rate” (Chapter 5 of my book, “Drop the Weight” 👉🏿Check it out...), I choose to pull positive energy into my life REGARDLESS of the situation.
