I’m sloooowly getting things crossed off my to-do list before I go back to school and this was one of them. ✅ I saw this idea awhile back from @truelifeimateacher and knew I wanted to try it. You smudge a little scented smelly smile on the back of a child’s hand when you are proud of them or when you want to encourage a specific behavior. I might use it to try to encourage more hands up! I do realize that this might not be appropriate for every child so I will have an alternative for them. How would you use them?
Let me know if you want me to add this tag as a Freebie in my shop.

*gets up early to cut out new “2nd” letters for first day of school board.... leaves them on the Cricut mat at home*
If that doesn’t describe the brain of a teacher on the first day I don’t know what does. I am tired and can’t even think about what to type so more to come tomorrow.
My collection of back to school books is growing and I can’t even decide which ones to read first! —-
Each one of these books has an amazing message about respecting others, being different, being kind, learning to make mistakes, feelings, fun stem actives and much more. Can’t wait to continue reading to my new littles this week!
Share your favorite read alouds with me in the comments pretty please!
Every campus I go to, I engage the students. I brought what I learned as a Five Percenter to my role as the former President of Student Government and peer mentor at Queensborough Community College. These are just some of the many students I worked with. #connect#engage#teach#inspire#motivate#excel

During a #blessing when I was still #pregs it was said to me, “it’s not only you who will teach your #child , it’s also the child who will #teach you.”I always remembered that...
...and indeed I have been taught a lesson in #patience . When I enrolled #Bardot in #dance#class she refused to participate. She screamed and whined and hung onto me like a leech, which gave me full on #anxiety and in turn exasperated her own #anxiety . So we made a decision that I would no longer come to these classes.
Since her #dad started taking her, as of last week she has been full on participating and she even seems to love it. My partner kept telling me to just give her time instead of judging immediately and imposing my expectations on her. I guess #time is what she in fact needed and probs for me not to be there 🤣🤣 (I think I have unresolved #dancetrauma from my own #childhood 🤣🤣). So moral of the #story : #patience and sometimes #moms need to back off and let the #dads do stuff

August bookmarks ✅📚
Giving my students these monthly bookmarks is always a highlight of each month. Gone are the days of me having to give out all of my post it’s just to have them rip book pages or to find them crumpled on the ground. The kiddos love these plus they’re so easy to make each month, year after year. Snag them with my #linkinprofile . #readingteacher#teachersfollowteachers

The grade 4s beginning their collaborative project to create a pen for our class pet, Todd the Turtle. They must determine the area of the base, the volume of the pen, as well as create a slip cover for the pen (while considering the price of materials). Todd’s a lucky turtle! 🐢 #teachersofinstagram#teachersfollowteachers#teach#teacherlife

Do you worry a lot to where it interferes in your daily living? Do you know someone who avoids situations because of fear? While anxiety is very normal and is the most common mental illness in the U.S., it is important to find ways that work for you to heal your mind so that you can live your healthiest life. There are many ways that people calm their heavy and persistent nerves. What are some ways you or someone you know handles anxiety?
And this happen yesterday! Such an extraordinary soapmaking class taught by yours truly! Teach them and they will come. Make it engaging and they will learn. Give them encouragement and they will encourage others. Give them a bar of soap and they will wash with it. Teach them to make soap and they will stay clean forever, said me. 😂😂😂
There is nothing I enjoy more than teaching. The @thegrangeissaquah kills it at educating the community!
I often tell my students that my goal for them as their teacher is not just to teach them English, Maths, Science etc but also how to be good people and strive with pride (our school motto) but it’s up to them to decided what kind of person they want to be and to do the right thing because they know it’s the right thing to do and it makes them feel good, and not just because they think they’re going to get a merit! Hopefully it’s sinking in for some!
Before my first year teaching my best friend since middle school hand painted this beauty for me to display in my classroom 🎨🖌It brings me so much joy every time I see it 🤗 What are some things you have in your classroom that make you ☺️ when you see them?!
7th annual Elite Basketball Camp in the books! Thanks to everyone who makes this event better and better every year! Honored to have NBA coaches, Norwegian coaches, professional players, and college players all under one roof supporting Norwegian basketball. Special thanks to @nba / @nfl / @mls photographer Jacob Gonzalez for capturing the event! 🇳🇴🏀🙌🏻
Eight years ago today, I accepted my first teaching position. I still remember getting the call from human resources and being so excited and grateful to be given the chance to do what I love to do.
Every year I still have that same excitement I felt eight year's ago. Even though I spend most of my time coaching teachers, I am still able to instill the love of reading and writing in K-5 classrooms.
Time flies when you are in a career that makes you happy. 📝📚❤️ #unforgettablefirstgrade#teaching#teacher#teach#teachingmemories#firstyearmemories#teacherlife
ELA & Art // 🍋➖➿〰️➰...
...As a former ELA teacher, I recognize the bits and pieces of ELA that can sometimes be rushed over due to lack of time, lack of resources, and children with deficits. As an Art teacher now, I want to align my curriculum with the ELA curriculum as much as possible. // In Louisiana, the 3rd grade students spend the first 9 weeks using the text The Stories Julian Tells. The first chapter is FULL of imagery and detail delivered through similes and metaphors. // I will read the first few pages, asking students to close their eyes, and visualize “mind movies” based on the details used in the text. Then, for our introductory lesson to lines in art, I’m using an excerpt from the text that creates a vivid image in the reader’s mind. Using simple lines (curves, diagonal, waves, geometric and vertical), I will guide the students as we sketch the image based on text details. Then, the following week, the students will use markers to fill the white space using any type of line they wish! // I look forward to posting this piece in the 3rd grade hallways.

Lately I seem to have accumulated tons of stickers and had nowhere to store them. I purchased a small expanding file from @therangeuk for £2 and used my label maker to label each tab.
I love keeping things organised so for me this is the best! 💪
