Creating a timeline with my students is always my favorite year-long project!
It’s a great combination of social studies, writing, and collaboration skills.
I love it so much - that I decided to create a kit for you to be able to do the same easily! If you follow my store, I will be uploading it by tomorrow morning! 💗 (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Mrs-B-First-Grade-Sarah-Barnett)
"Let’s just all give @polka.dots.please a round of applause because THIS IS ABOUT TO CHANGE MY WORLD! She had the brilliant idea to use these doorbells from @sadotech_doorbell as a classroom management strategy. My next step is to create this as a classroom job and the new bell ringer will be the new favorite job. I see it now! A brawl on the rug over who is the next bell ringer." via @typeainprek
Is this you?! Would you be brave enough to lay face down on your carpet? Lol! Tag a teacher friend who can also feel your pain.. who would collapse to the floor with you... who knows what’s like to need a cocktail and then pajamas... who’s ready for bed at 8pm. Well done teachers! Enjoy your well deserved weekend! 💖

Our Book Tasting was a huge success today! My students loved being introduced to new books through this experience! They explored new genres and styles of books they’ve never looked at before today. There must read bookmarks were filled with all the books they plan to read. They talked and discussed books, author’s craft, genres, importance of titles, hooks, readability, and so much more! I call this a big win! Let our reading lives in room 230 begin!
Cupcake toppers will be added to the resource tomorrow! Just made them last night, but I love them! (Swipe to see-last pic). Link to resource in profile. bit.ly/booktastingevent #bookpusher#booklover#readersgonnaread

The best thing I learned as a #firstyearteacher was not everything needs a grade. Walk around the room, stamp, and have the students put them in their mailbox/folder. Don’t bother collecting and causing yourself extra work. Work smarter. Not harder. 📸: @theresourcefulteacher

Tosha is 36 today and we are celebrating by choosing one person who will will 36 of our tees. You can pick some shirts for you and your besties. All you have to do is comment with Happy Birthday Tosha! Feel free to tag your besties.
How are you feeling? Answering this question for yourself, honestly and without judgment, can change everything.
When you know how you feel, you can do something about it. There can be no healthy managing of emotions if you don’t know what you’re feeling in the first place.
And if you don’t know how you feel, you end up yelling at your innocent cat just for existing after you’ve unconsciously held in a mountain of student stress all day long (... just me?).
Follow the steps in @heyamberrae’s brilliant graphic and let me know how you’re feeling in the comments!

MATH READ ALOUDS • Seriously, students LOVE being read to! Yes, even in upper elementary! I always loved using this book to start our unit on place value!
I got this book from one of the teachers I did my internship with in college and used it every year after that! (I think it’s time for a new copy of the book... swipe ➡️ to see it’s current condition 🤦🏽♀️) Tell me your MUST HAVE math read aloud in the comments 👇
If you haven’t seen the post, we’re giving a way this book along with $350+ worth of math manipulatives and resources over at @upperelementarymath so be sure to head over there and enter for your chance to win!
Have you grabbed this freebie yet? It’s great for any candy like skittles, m&ms, sweet-tarts, and more. Or use pony beads and other small manipulatives instead of candy. This is part of my graphing pack that will be coming soon!
Do you want your students to memorize their math facts this year? What if I told you it could be easy to differentiate when they are working on this skill? Would you be interested in learning how? There is a link in my bio that will take you to more information about how I make this work! This method works for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division! https://pin.it/u3ge2erxtnsn4h #mathfacts#mathfluency#mathfactfluency#multiplication#iteach#teachersofig#happyteacher#iteachmath

CALLING FOR NOMINATIONS: ART TEACHER OF THE MONTH!
This past May during Teacher Appreciation Week, we noticed a lack of recognition for one very important group: Art Teachers.
Creativity and the arts are central to a well-rounded education for our children, and Art Teachers are the ones who spark inspiration in them every day.
Beginning this August, we will honor one Art Teacher as our Prang Tru-Ray Art Teacher of the Month! As a company built around the idea of inspiring creativity with art, writing, and craft solutions, we understand the value Art Teachers bring and the sacrifices they make.
Every month we’ll choose one Prang Tru-Ray Art Teacher of the Month. They’ll be recognized on social media and awarded a Prize Pack along with a certificate for their school or art room.
This is where you come in. We need YOU to nominate an Art Teacher who goes above and beyond and made (or is making) a difference in your life. Tell us who they are and why they should be recognized.
1. Like this page & this post.
2. Tag and nominate an Art Teacher and tell us why they should be honored.
Saturday, August 31st, 2019 at 12:00PM CT.
Our first winner will be selected and announced on September 4th, 2019.
This program is neither sponsored nor endorsed by Instagram. Rules subject to change. All decisions made by Dixon Ticonderoga are final.

Well, we’ve gone through a little makeover and have expanded our programming to situations outside the classroom, and would like to re-introduce ourselves as The Get Ready Project!
We have a lot of fun and exciting things coming to our new website September 2019, so stay tuned and give us a follow 🧘🏼♀️🧘🏾♂️
