This week is @fash_rev week⚡️
On the 24th of April 2013, the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed. 1,138 people died and another 2,500 were injured, making it the fourth largest industrial disaster in history. The victims were mostly young women. Out of this tragedy the Fashion Revolution began and is growing stronger everyday! 💪🏻
I’ll be at Brisbane’s very own @fash_rev_ausnz event tonight and tomorrow with my goods. This will be an all local line up of makers, menders & creatives who are making and shaking the crazy world that is fashion upside down and inside out! ✌🏻
Together we are louder, together we can create an industry that works to conserve and restore our environment and gives the people, especially women, a voice!⚡️

The earth turns. And the sun cuts through the starry night to make the fields golden again. The dew falls from below to quench the lake. The wind lingers in the hair ever so slightly. The ink takes its time drying; as thoughts wed memories. You dance to the rhythm of a beat deep inside you. You reap, garnish, season, unravel, gaze. With every meal you can taste the day. With every chore you fulfill a purpose. With every breath you come alive. You wash off the weariness of all the women in you. And then the earth turns again.
Day 5 of Fashion Revolution Week.
We’re lucky enough to work with some great local designers who ask us to produce their designs. Keeping things local helps to reduce the carbon footprint of the garments and ensure high welfare for workers. This stunning bikini is from the “Paradise Found” collection by @kjsstudio and we’re in love! 😍

I’m sewing 🧵 well overlocking! It’s not very often that I get to do hands on projects these days, of course I’m always drawing motifs for my Surface Pattern Design work but generally I have everything made & outsourced for my company & studio work. It was great to rediscover my passion for sewing whilst filming my new interiors based online masterclass with @simionhawtinsmith@relovedupholsteryanddesign back in February, we have joined forces to teach you everything you need to know to turn your drawings into beautiful fabric designs which can then be applied to creative innovative statement cushions for a design show / event or even your own home. We capture everything from the Adobe software through to sewing piping, buttons etc. & host videos for both beginner & advanced level. The online classroom opens Wednesday May 1st but as it runs on a self paced structure you can work through at your own speed & you have 24/7 access for 6 months. Right now the early bird offer is on until Sunday (now £67 was £89), please see my bio link for further info, hope to see you in our NEW @makeitindesign ‘Surface Pattern Design & Cushion Making Masterclass’. I can’t wait to make my next cushion too 😀. PS we don’t expect you to have industrial equipment & Simion demonstrates on a domestic machine & also guides you with alternative options. We make it super easy so it’s feels fun no matter what level of experience you have 🧵
