Or to give you a ‘how to' find your splits

I want to write about how yoga feels like taking off a layer of armour,
One breath at a time

And how when I move on my mat the stories I tell myself - the ones about being 'too fat' or ‘never ever enough’ - the ones I picked up and learnt; almost disappear completely.

I want to tell you about rhythm, and the magic of it all.
And how I don’t need to numb myself here.
Because I feel free on this small rectangle on the floor

I want to tell you how my life is different 
Not because I am more flexible
But because I can understand a little better what it is like to live without the noise of the world ringing in my ears
Because I can see beauty more now, because finally, I have felt it

And I hope that makes sense

  • FACT👉🏼cross-training when you’re off running pays off💰

I was off for almost 20 weeks {minus that one slip up🤫}, but while I was off I did 💩 tonne of cross training...stairs, spin, elliptical, hills, boxing; you name it I did it! And it 💯 made a difference🎉

Yeah, I’ve only done 7 runs and I haven’t ran more than 5km🙄 BUT aerobically {easy pace} I feel really strong! And I don’t feel like I’ve lost that much fitness🙌🏼

HOWEVER, where I do feel it is in my endurance #obviously 🤪 and in my “running muscles”...aka my feet, my hips, my core. I can definitely feel that my body hasn’t pounded the pavement for 20 weeks! So all the more reason to take it slow and let my body adapt to the load of running again💪🏼 I’ve already taken 20 weeks off, I don’t want to be off anymore🙅🏼‍♀️

  • Afternoon coffee chat:💉Botox, 💋fillers, plastic surgery…oh my! And yep...I’ve had all of the above done! I had a breast augmentation in 2017 and I started getting Botox and lip filler this year (swipe to see the before and after of my @themacokc lips 🤯👄). This is something I don’t have to share here on social media. I realize doing so opens me up to scrutiny and judgement. BUT, when I shared my breast augmentation experience I had SO many women reach out to THANK me for being an open book. So, I will continue to share! I’m not here to explain why I choose to have these procedures done (because to each their own!). But I will say if you choose to get Botox or filler…cool! If you choose not to…awesome! So thank you - feeling v grateful today 🥰⁣ ⁣
Full body workout is below BUT FIRST 🛑some tips to put together your own full body workouts together with confidence. And you can apply this to any situation – home or gym, whether you have a pair of dumbbells or a whole gym at your disposal. I’ve posted this before but I think it’s worth sharing again 🙃⁣

When I do a full body workout I try to include at least one of each of the following:⁣
⁣
🔺Squat (back squat, goblet squat, front squat, leg press)⁣
🔺Hinge (hip thrust, glute bridge, Romanian deadlift, conventional deadlift, kettlebell swing)⁣
🔺Upper body pull (chin-ups, lat pulldowns, barbell rows, renegade row, dumbbell row)⁣
🔺Upper body push (bench press, push-up, shoulder press, floor press)⁣
⁣
Of course this is just a starting point. I usually like to make sure I include a thrust/bridge pattern in addition to any deadlift I’m implementing. And if I have the time and energy, I like to include both a horizontal and vertical push, and horizontal and vertical pull. This isn’t always possible, and you can still have a great workout without it 💪🏻⁣

Also, I’d like to note that I would have preferred to do the deadlifts towards the beginning but the platforms were taken so 🤷🏼‍♀️ it is what it is. You do you 👊🏻⁣

I sat in my kitchen last night and sobbed. .

The kids ordered french fries for dinner and Phil and I had just made the decision earlier in the day to eat lower carb to start the weight loss cycle again. .
.
The shame spiral literally started spilling out of me and the tears wouldn’t stop. Phil held me trying to understand and then my story started seeping out of my mouth. The most vulnerable share I’ve had in a long time.

Sharing truths with my love of over 17 years for the very first time. .

  • It’s challenging to invest energy in defined directions. I naturally want to help, please, and say "yes". This results in my energy extending in multiple, chaotic, disjointed, directions at one time. When this happens, I lose balance, and any strength is lost.

Learning the essential part of the practice, the pose, the breath, has also taught me to be okay saying "no". Greg McKeown, in writing and teaching about the disciplined pursuit of less, allows that if you aren't beyond 100% yes in response to something, you need to learn to offer a hard "no". . . .
With that in mind, I find myself saying "no" more and more, even to my practice. By not pedestalling a pose, teacher, convention, expectation, or set practice, I allow the space to hold firm beliefs weakly, to say "no" to what isn't essential, and to be open to new ideas and new elements of the practice.

And then my energy is in line and pointed in the one direction that I choose.

You will NOT see instant results.
You will think about quitting sometimes.
You will battle with consistency.

But if you don’t quit, you’ll find the results.

Here’s an awesome core circuit you can do on a day you’re feelin lazier😂
don’t get me wrong I was really sore when I woke up especially after the week I’ve been having😅
A strong core is the base to all of your work inside and outside the gym, you don’t want to neglect it cause it helps posture, coordination and helps improve your lifting🙌🏼
incorporate these and complete them 4x though for 30 seconds.
Don’t forget to SAVE & 🧡 for your next ab circuit🙌🏼🧡
