  • Official half way point, 20 weeks pregnant, baby is 11 inches and around 11oz, size of a large banana! 🍌 -
My current craving is chips and curry sauce, but I have to let the chips go really soggy into the sauce and a bit cold. 🤤 I’m very out of breath, exhausted and tired. I could sleep all day if I had the chance. My hair is growing super long as you can see! My hair NEVER grows so everyone has noticed! Today I picked up my usual 90p flip flops from primark, every time I’ve been pregnant I just live in them with my mammoth feet! I’m having such strong dreams every night, my sense of smell is INTENSE, it’s really annoying Ryan because everything smells awful to me. Feel little flutters but not much as I thought I would, with Reuben I felt full on kicks at 17 weeks. I’m wondering if my placenta is blocking? I’ll find out soon. -
Next Tuesday we get to find out *hopefully* if baby number 3 is a boy 💙 or a girl 💗 I’m excited but so nervous! Any last guesses?? -

  • Mom of BOYS! No one is more excited about our new baby than his big brothers! 💙💙💙
.
It’s a good thing I’m the only one that can nurse the baby, because there’s a high demand for newborn snuggles!

  • SIXTEEN WEEKS: the baby is the size of an avocado [annnnd so is my brain 🥑🧠.] My nausea keeps coming back like a John Farnham concert 😑🤢🤢 and every night Javier exclaims “mummy there are TEN babies in my belly!” Which makes me feel like I really shouldn’t be complaining because he’s obviously got it WAY worse than me 😒😑. I’m a fully savoury person now too ...which is weird/means I can’t go anywhere anything sweet [#whoami 🤨]. And lately I’ve been starting my morning’s with a mantra to my lady parts that goes something along the lines of “just one more time, I promise. Only one more ...YOU’VE GOT THIS!” 👊🏽👊🏽 Which has felt [slightly] reassuring and semi-empowering following the first meeting with my midwife... who casually told me third babies just fly on out 😐... #letuspray🙏🏽🤰🏻[Ps. shoutout to my kids who always bring their A game to our photos 😆👧🏻👦🏽✨.] #sixteenweekspregnant

  • 𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫. ⁣
⁣
My first birth was incredible difficult. Other than walking around campus and standing for hours dissecting, I didn’t exercise. ⁣
⁣
The second time around I thought being fit would help me have an easy labor. So I pushed myself, often past discomfort, to be fit and strong. ⁣
⁣
Don’t get me wrong, it was easier than my first but was that because I was more prepared and knew what to expect this time? ⁣
⁣
Zoey’s birth was probably the easiest, most definitely the quickest. (I mean, it was my only unmedicated birth so it wasn’t a walk in the park.... but in comparison) ⁣
⁣
Exercise-wise, I did at-home strength training workouts 2-3 days a week throughout pregnancy. I modified a lot and often. I didn’t worry about lifting heavy. I didn’t push past discomfort. Towards the end I quit going on walks entirely and rested more than any other pregnancy. ⁣

What WILL help is preparing yourself mentally for the challenges you may face in birth. 👈🏼 That’s one of the things we do in my program Third Trimester Comfort and Calm. ⁣

  • Oh hey there baby 👶🏼 •
You probably haven’t noticed but I’ve been a little absent the last couple of months and here’s the reason why! •
I forgot how hard growing a tiny human can be!
Between being extremely exhausted and pretty sick it hasn’t been the most fun so far! •
But we are now past the initial shock and the 12 week hurdle with a so far healthy little babe and we couldn’t be more excited. Fingers crossed the morning sickness will go ease off and give me a chance to enjoy this pregnancy, as this WILL most definitely be my last!! •
Oh and how cute is the little thumbs up 👍🏼?!? .

  • This little bun in the oven is 17 weeks today!🤰 ⁣
⁣
I might still be fighting this head cold going around, but I’m super grateful that I was able to get my body moving with some Barre in my living room and avoid the hip and back pain from sitting on the couch the last few days! Still got the congestion and bad cough but not dizzy anymore! 🙌⁣
⁣
I’m also still craving the balsamic vinegar salads and strawberries. Today I even tried chocolate hummus for the first time 🤤 I’ll just recommend that right now to everyone if you haven’t tried it yet 😂⁣
⁣
Now to get the energy to make dinner! 😩What are you having tonight?

  • Doulas aren't just for emotional support, physical support is vital too! 👍 Ex: at the last birth I was at, the midwife said the baby felt OP (sunny side up). So, I got the mom to do a few side lying releases and a modified inversion. After that, her labor picked up and intensified and she even felt the baby move! This was her third baby and labor was off and on for days and slow to progress, which is a sign that baby isn't in the best position. Who knows, baby may have turned on his own without help, but I'm happy I was there to give that physical support to help things along! This knowledge is key as a doula!
___
Reposted from @bundlebirth Back for more education- this time let’s talk about the journey your baby makes through your pelvis! I thought it would be fun for you to understand how the baby navigates your pelvis! ·
·
I think it’s easy to think that when you’re in labor, you’re doing all the work- but your baby has to find his/her way through the bony ridges, push through your pelvic floor muscles and ligaments and twist and turn their head to try to find their way! Remember this when you’re in labor! You’re doing it together. ·
·
First, the baby drops- if you haven’t seen my YouTube video about how this happens and how to encourage it, check it out! This can happen at any point in the process and they tuck their chin to their chest, making it an easier fit. Tell your baby to tuck! It’s super important early on. Then, they start their journey ⏰clockwise (although this is very flex&flow and if there is tension or misalignment they may have to find another way). As they twist, their backs come forward so that the back of the head is towards the front of you. This is ideal although they can deliver vaginally in any of these pictured positions. As you’re pushing, you’ll see the back of the head first on your vagina hole and eventually when the head pops out they will be facing the ground (your butt). Then, their little shoulders will slip through and they’ll be on your chest! 🐣About 5-8% of babies will be born in an OP position (sunny-side up) or looking right at 👀you face up when they come out. It can make labor harder and longer, but is still possilble!

She is batons excited for her new baby. She went through his dresser today, ooh-ing and ahh-ing at all of his little outfits and bibs and toys. She is going to be such a good big sister.

  • Coffee or wine? ☕️ And for the record, my intent is to NEVER purposely ignore my kids. But rather to make sure that I’m getting some solid adult interaction and prioritizing personal time for ME.
With a new baby at home, sometimes it feels like days before I have any sort of communication with another person over the age of five. (Besides my husband.) Am I even capable of holding an adult conversation anymore? 🤣 Quality time with girlfriends is NEEDED and NECESSARY. Again. While the intent isn’t necessarily to IGNORE your kids, it is also healthy to set boundaries and give your kids independence while mama gains some healthy adult interaction.
In the throws of new baby life, my time with girlfriends is few and far between. So when I get the chance you better believe I’m going to make the MOST out of it. And yes. That means kids, go play with your friends. This is mommy time. So. Girl chat time. 💁🏼‍♀️ What’s been on your mind lately? Take a second and feel okay about using social media to vent in the comments section. Maybe it’ll help your mental health so that when you do put your phone down to be with the kids you’ll feel like you finally released some pent up energy and can then be actively present in the moment. I’ll go first. Personally, I’ve had that crazy six month postpartum hormone shift (which I talk about in my stories). I’ve been feeling abnormally overwhelmed, paralyzed with anxiety, regular migraine headaches and depth perception issues. My husband is out of town, so I’m on full kid duty. And guess what? I need to vent about it. I know it's temporary but without anyone around to talk to about it - and kids who don't often understand - it can be hard. It’s okay, I’m still a good mom. ❤️❤️❤️

  • We kinda can’t believe we’re already on the home stretch!
Baby brother is happy, healthy, kicking and squirming like a pro, and his big brothers are very (very) excited to meet him. Only 12 more weeks, give or take!
I honestly expected this pregnancy to be harder than it has been, given my “advanced maternal age.” But about the only thing that has hurt worse is my back, which touché medical world, is likely because of my age 😂
It really makes the days go fast when you’re chasing a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old. There are no naps anymore, least of all for Momma. There are very few moments of our day that are quiet or calm or don’t require me to be on my feet. But it’s just time for extra snuggles, books to read, stories to tell, songs to dance to, and laughs to share. I can’t wait to add one more to the wild world of the Howell boys. We love you so much, littlest brother.

  • Happy 1 week baby girl 💖
This time a week ago I was pacing around our hospital room, you’d caught us all out arriving early - I was at the cinema watching sonic with your big brother & sister when I knew something was up and your daddy was in Leicester (like 2 hours away from us) in work for meetings .... it all came together in the end ... at 18:15 I was examined and told I was 4cm , I then got into the water ready for a water birth and by 18:42 you was born so quick in the end, so quick it took you a while to come round (pretty scary at the time) but you did it about 45 seconds later you let out that “cry” that all mums (and dads) are desperately waiting to hear!
It’s been so amazing to have a baby in the house again my sweet Sienna Skye really is the sweetest and so loved by us all 💖🌸🎀🦄 •#SiennaSkyeJ #Newborn #1DayOld #HoursOld #GoingHome #BirthStory #ItsAGirl #ThirdBaby #BabyGirl #February19TH #Motherhood #HelloWorld #FirstWeek #InstaGood

  • I thought, I’d be all I’ve seen it before. You’ll learn to walk and talk 🥱. We all do it. Boring 🙄. But how wrong was I?? I still find all the little things amazingly magical and like my (third) babe is the first child ever to learn all the things.. despite pretty strong evidence to the contrary.. e.g all the people walking & talking & eating around me every day 😂🤷‍♀️⠀

My youngest has had a huge cognitive leap in the last day. Her language has just exploded! Her babble is the absolute cutest thing in the world. We’re having ‘conversations’. Love these moments ❤️ What’s your favorite thing you’ve seen your babe learn so far?
  • I thought, I’d be all I’ve seen it before. You’ll learn to walk and talk 🥱. We all do it. Boring 🙄. But how wrong was I?? I still find all the little things amazingly magical and like my (third) babe is the first child ever to learn all the things.. despite pretty strong evidence to the contrary.. e.g all the people walking & talking & eating around me every day 😂🤷‍♀️⠀
