  • Please don’t forget that someone once drew OLDMANGLOOM as Thundercats. My phone just autocorrected to Tindercats, and I now I need to know what a Tindercat is. Tinder for cats?!? I’m in, swiping right all night. #tindercats #oldmangloom #thundercats

  • Tacoma has made appearances on our FB page before, but never with the ADOPTABLE status! After 13 months in #deCATurFosters, Tacoma is finally searching for a home.
Once she is comfortable in her space, and knows who you are, she loves to be pet, rub on your legs, and roll on your feet. She is not a lap cat, but she is completely adorable and cuddly on her terms. Tacoma likes to carry toys to her cat bed and sleep with them. She has no medical condition, just very slow to adjust and can be scared and skittish. Tacoma actually just received a 3 year Rabies and FVRCP vaccine, which is above and beyond our standard protocol. All Tacoma needs is a family that understands her personality and will allow her to acclimate on her timeline. #TinderCats #ValentinesDay2019 #Galentine #fostercats #findlove #adopt #catsofinstagram

  • Introducing Jack! Jack has completely come out of his shell in foster care. He craves cuddles and attention, and loves to be held and rest his head in your arms. Born in a large feral cat colony in Decatur, IL, rampant with upper respiratory infection (URI), Jack was not unscathed. His chronic condition is known as Idiopathic Rhinosinusitis - not contagious, but permanent congestion and susceptibility to URI. Idiopathic Rhinosinusitis is often the result of persistent URI that permanently damages the nasal passages after time. Jack is looking for a family that will play and cuddle him, but also keep an eye on his health. His favorite toys are the chirping mice... and a kitty playmate!

Jack's story:
One of our caring volunteers trapped him and his littermate (Jill!) intending to perform a standard TNR, but didn't have the heart to return the kittens to the colony. Jack and Jill were treated with antibiotics, but Jack was not getting better. His lab test results showed that he was suffering from Calicivirus. Jack's URI persisted for months, and in October, he and Jill were accepted into #deCATurFosters. Jack was immediately put on Doxycycline, Lysine, and probiotics. Within weeks, Jack's URI symptoms began to become milder! After months of treatment, Jack's residual congestion persisted, and he never had a firm stool since coming to foster care. When a cat contracts an upper respiratory infection, the clock starts for permanent damage. Although Jack was able to clear the infection within weeks in foster care, permanent damage was done to his nasal passages (Idiopathic Rhinosinusitis). Yoga4Cats is still working with our veterinary partners to determine the source of Jack's diarrhea. At this point, we suspect IBS, food sensitivity, or something of that nature. Jack is being introduced to a prescription duck and pea diet.

  • Aslan was featured on our FB page in January, and has yet to receive an application. Aslan is perfect in every way: handsome, cuddly, and playful when he wants to be. However, he is FIV+. Cats with feline immunodeficiency virus can often live long and healthy lives. FIV is only transferrable to other cats and cannot be passed to humans or other species of pets. The virus is believed to be transferred during serious, aggressive fighting when a bite containing the infected cat's saliva contaminates the blood of an uninfected cat. Aslan previously lived with two dogs, and he does not seem aggressive towards other cats. We believe he would do well in a house with dogs, children, and most cats as long as he is safely and properly integrated.
