Ab exercises are great! You should definitely work your core, buuut they actually don’t get rid of belly fat

We can’t spot reduce fat, so it comes down to losing overall body fat, which comes from being in a caloric deficit!

We all hold fat in different places (hello genetics 👋🏼) and oftentimes those “stubborn” places are where it comes from last

You work out all of the time. You’ve been doing it for years - yet your arms don’t seem to be as toned as you’d like.

These are the most common problems I see with my female clients.

I’ve had so many women start training with me who are just doing the same workouts over and over again with the same weights. Stop the insanity! Increase weights once you hit your prescribed rep range. Please, of course.

The next two are the most important:
-
Time. No one wants to work hard, and do it for a long time to see results. But for 95% of the population, that’s the formula for success. Keep at it. I don’t know what else to say.

Reduce body fat. There is absolutely no way you will see the tone you’d like if you have excess body fat. No amount of muscle will change that. So, you can eat in a slight calorie deficit to lose fat, or you can eat at maintenance and take it slower to recomp.

As far as “arm day”, yeah, you could do that as long as you’re hitting your arms 2x/week. A better solution would be to hit your arms with compound movements (and some isolation) 3x/week. You’ll see the best results in your arms this way.

If you don’t have a distinct focus on the big moves: bench presses, rows, military presses, lat pulldowns, push ups, dips and pull ups, you’re missing the target. These should form at least 80% of your upper body work.

Last, but not least, you MUST consume enough protein to build and retain muscle. Most of my female clients - at least 80% - are not consuming enough protein when they start with me. When you don’t consume enough protein, your body will break down muscle to get the protein it requires. So do whatever you have to do - include protein shakes, Greek yogurt and other complete protein sources to get the job done!

I get asked so much how i have the motivation to gym so much and tips to start etc. If you start working out consistently, motivation to improve yourself comes naturally. I get that a lot of people find working out boring/tiring, but if you make it fun by doing exercises that you love then motivation will come naturally. Sometimes even i dont have the motivation to work out and its okay to not go once in a while, but i remind myself that each time i workout i will improve myself as a whole and be a role model to those who want to work out, or lack the motivation ❤️❤️

Don’t worry my posts are always aimed at helping you the follower. The embarrassing thing is I have made all of the mistakes in the book when it comes to training & nutrition. However, I wouldn’t change anything because it's how I have learned. Hopefully, you can learn quicker than me 👍

🔥 LIFT WHAT YOU SHOULD AND NOT WHAT YOU CAN - Of course we want to lift heavy but if you are always chasing the weight you leave yourself wide open to injury and ugly form. No one wants to end up on ”gym fails”. -

🔥 KICK EXER-PHOBIA IN THE BUTT - Those exercises that are really painful and you know you should do them but you end up sticking to bicep curls & lateral raises. Do them because you are limiting your potential. If they hurt that means they are effective! -

🔥 PICK EXERCISES THAT SUIT YOU - Don’t just do exercises because they are in the latest men’s or women’s health. Everyone is suited to different exercises and not every exercise is suited to you. You generally have a rough idea if something doesn’t feel right. -

Since she started to train with me, she has:
1️⃣ reduced how much she weighs herself to less than a handful of times a week, which is boosting her motivation & how she feels about herself
2️⃣ has consistently eaten 1,450 calories which is up from her restrictive 1,000
3️⃣ has increased her steps from 2,000 p/day to 8,000 p/day on average
4️⃣ lifts weights 3x a week, furthering her confidence & increasing her strength whilst toning her body
5️⃣ feels better about herself, how to achieve her goals and is able to maintain consistency but also motivation

If you feel you are ruled by the scales or ruled by numbers, then take a second. How’s it making you feel when you get on them? If it’s constantly putting you down, it might be time to throw them out. Opting for ⬇️ instead as progress tools:

  • time for a whole load of honest coming your way 👋🏼 the past two months have been absolutely fucked, for lack of a better way of putting it. I don’t think I’ve been this far down the hole of depression since high school- and that’s saying something. I keep piling projects and assignments and actual work on top of each other and hoping to god that nothing tumbles down. I’ve never been great at juggling and apparently I still suck at it. Some days (much like today) I can’t do it, I give up and I sleep all day- trying to be okay and get shit done all at once takes it out of you. I’ve barely moved from the couch at all today, didn’t even watch TV, I’ve just slept all day either on the couch or in bed. But I’ll again tomorrow, I’ll get up and I’ll to my best to keep going, because that’s what we do, we keep going. 🌟
