  • A few weeks ago, I shared that I was going to begin an anti-budget each week to track my spending. An anti budget is where you look at your spending, categorize it by importance and see where you can eliminate or reduce useless funds being spent. This was inspired by teachings I learned at a #manulife event (specifically from @kelleykeehnbiz) that shared that a little can do a lot. I've implemented this small practice into my schedule every Friday night right after the kids go to bed. I sit down in my living room, open up my chequing account from my laptop and record everything I've spent that week. The first week I did this, I was so shocked by how much money my family spent on take out. I've since cut that amount in half and I'm making a conscious decision to redirect those funds into saving. Do you track your spending? Are you spending your money wisely? I highly recommend starting an anti budget to see where your money is going. You just may be surprised how much you could be saving! #ALittleCanDoAlot #YourLittleVoiceKnows #Manulife #Sponsored

  • What a place to BEE 🐝! I spent World Honey Bee Day with @shopstc and got up-close and personal with these beautiful creatures. I was part of a special tour showcasing their Green Rooftop Project, a project they launched in partnership with Alvéole, a social beekeeping company, to create a more eco-conscious shopping centre. ⁣
⁣
Alvéole is working with STC to build 2 sustainable beehives where more than 15,000 honey bees are making their home on the rooftop of STC!⁣
⁣
It was an unBEElievable 🐝experience and I learned so much about urban beekeeping and how important honey bees are! Visit their website for more details, and check out my stories to see how close we really were to these incredible insects ! #MeetMeAtSTC #STCAPlaceToBee #STC_Partner

  • Our front door has had a complete makeover!! We painted it from brown to black, changed our doorbell a few week ago and most recently added a new @schlagecanada encode smart wifi deadbolt and handleset. This combo has a gorgeous and sleek design and also delivers some awesome features. I'm able to remotely manage my lock from literally anywhere using my cell phone. I can lock, unlock and track all activity from the app because it connects to my home's wifi signal. The lock can be programmed with a special code and does not require keys to enter. Swipe to see the before and after. I shared the full install on my YouTube channel and did a small demo of how it all works. Click the link in my bio to check it out. Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing a few more home reno's. Wait to see what part of the house we move to next. Stay tune.. #ad #schlagecanada

  • Every time I feel unusually bad about how I handled Aleyan in a certain situation, I pick up my copy of the book, 'The Whole-Brain Child' and read random bits of it. It gives me a strange sense of control over parenting and puts things in perspective. At least for a while.
.
A lot of South Asian parents tend to blame their own parents/childhood/family dynamics for the kind of parents they are to their children. Sharing below excerpt from the book because it says that even parents who have less then optimal childhoods can parent every bit as effectively, and raise children who feel just as loved and securely attached 👪
⬇️
"It's not how our parents raised us or how many parenting books we've read. It's actually how well we've made sense of our experiences with our own parents and how sensitive we are to our children that most powerfully influences our relationship with our kids, and therefore how they thrive.
.
It all comes down to what we call our life narrative, the story we tell when we look at who we are and how we've become that person. Our life narrative determines our feelings about our past, our understanding of why people (like our parents) behaved as they did, and our awareness of the way those events have impacted our development into adulthood. When we have a coherent life narrative, we have made sense of how the past has contributed to who we are and what we do.
.
You might be tempted to simply parent in a way exactly opposite of how your parents did it. But the idea, instead, is to openly reflect on how your experiences with your parents affected you. You may need to deal with implicit memories that are influencing you without your realizing it. However you do it, with a therapist or by discussing with a friend, it is important that you begin getting clear on your own story. Because through mirror neurons and implicit memory, we directly pass on our emotional life to our children - for better or for worse. Knowing that our kids live with and through whatever we're experiencing is a powerful insight that can motivate us to begin and continue our journey towards understanding our own stories. The joys as well as the pain."

  • I am so excited to finally add some art in my bedroom! Thanks to @oppositewall my bedroom is becoming warmer to me. I picked the two holding hands and love sing to represent the love between me and Aleksi and the two plants to represent our two little kiddos. I love it so much?

  • What problems can massage therapy solve or help solve?
The real scourge of modern people is problems with the spine: slouching, scoliosis, poor posture, and problems with the sciatic nerve.

Massage is able to eliminate these problems in the spine, but only together with specially selected physical exercises which will provide an opportunity to relieve tension from the back, and also strengthen the weakened muscle groups. Additionally, during the massage, manual therapy and stretching can also be applied. The success and benefits of massage depend on the degree of neglect of the problem, and on if the person returns for regular appointments.
Problems with cellulite can also be solved with massage. A canned massage technique is magnificent for diminishing cellulite and when done in combination with special creams that prevent stagnation, a healthy diet, and regular exercise, the outcome is very decent!
Problems with cranial pressure inside the body, tension headaches, sinusitis, neuralgia, and the general overall condition of the body can all be improved by massage as well.
In fact, our body is designed for the possibility of self-education, and one of the tasks of massage is to create favorable conditions for this. If you give an impetus, the healing process is much more effective.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Keep items you use the most at eye level and the pieces that see a little less use further away or up higher. If you can’t easily see or access something, the less likely you are to use it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Same goes for the pantry! Consider unloading cereals, baking goods, pasta and rice for instance, into clear containers. You’ll have more room, they will keep better and you’ll actually be able to see everything! Position things you use the most, like cereal, where it’s easiest to access.
