🇬🇧 The astronomical clock is one of the main monuments of the city.
Through a complex mechanism it indicates, in addition to the hour, also the position of the sun and the moon, as well as that of the constellations.🌌 At each hour the clock emits its tolling, the skeleton depicting death pulls the rope and from the two upper windows overlook the twelve apostles.
Even the clock is wrapped in a legend whose protagonist is the watchmaker who built it. He was blinded in such a way as to prevent him from reproducing such a marvelous work in other countries, and subsequently cursing the clock and whoever had observed it, threw himself right from the clock tower.
However, we advise you to challenge the watchmaker and to watch at least once when the clock strikes the hour.😬
Everyday on our trek in Georgia, we would see these enormous towers in the distance. Some of them looked friendly and welcoming; some look like they housed Dementors. No matter how they looked, our urge to climb them took us to the top of every tower. .
This was our first one at Omalo, the base camp of the trek. Traditionally, all the villages have towers above them. So you'll spot one almost at every camp, and every village on the way. .
One of them even had a temple where women were not allowed. We climbed up there, with the towers half shrouded in most. We had the strangest experience there. I'll save that for another story, with a picture that goes with it. .
For now, bask in this sunshine. I don't have many more sunshine pictures from Georgia! 🙈
Pillars of Creation, located within the Eagle Nebula (M16). This name is so badass that I find it difficult to believe that it was named by humans, and not by some elder-god.
These towers are enormous gatherings of space dust and gases, which are currently in the process of forming new stars.
I struggle to find the words to describe the feelings I have when gazing upon it. Despite all of our attempts at perfection, all of our collaborative efforts in attaining something we can call worthwhile, within the cosmic perspective nothing we have done, are doing, or will do can make something as beautiful as this.
Knowing this sad fate of ours might make some people become apathetic and nihilistic, while for others this might be the most encouraging factor.
For me, I’d like to look at some more towers.
I’d give it an 11/10. #tower#towers#pillarsofcreation#nasa#space#nebula#stars

~ Captain fish’s log. Today we found a ghost town full of high towers. We searched the story of the town in the computer and we found out that it has a very creepy past. The population of that town destroyed its self jumping and pushing each other from the towers... ok I don’t suffer from dizziness but this place terrifies me! ~
